Excellent footage Victor! Completely crazy scenes at Bray Daly Station. Thankfully, we are getting over 95 new Dart trains by Alstom in 2025 to help with capacity. The GEC/LHB/Siemens 8100 and 8300 Class units are definitely on their last legs of use and have only about 3 to 5 years left of service with Iarnród Eireann due to age. They seemed to have the most difficulty handling the crowds and departing due to trespassing. The Tokyu Car Corporation 8500 units have about 20 years left in service. They also experienced problems too due to crowds walking on tracks. Irish Rail could have also included commuter services stock such as 29000 Class units and 22000 Class units to deal with crowds too. Irish Rail will have to work harder to handle massive crowds at stations when major events happen in towns. They also have to make sure that all their rolling stock have to be equipped with proper air-conditioning, have huge amount of rolling stock available in storage and have to be prepared for these events.
The summer prior to that, i was on a 29000 dmu from Connolly to Clonsilla and jt was melting that day and there was no air conditioning at all and as soon as you hit the sunshine, it became uncomfortably hot and myself and 2 others went and opened the doors at EVERY stop to get fresh air. Even with all windows open, it was still roasting. They seriously need to introduce air conditioning on trains or else the government should demand then to
Indeed. Apparently Irishrail didn't like the comments posted about their service. But you can really only blame them. They left people on roasting carraiges for ages. Not a good thing to do.
@@IrishtransportspotterMany of them are bone lazy Union reps who are coasting towards retirement so they could not care less - the trade Union culture is not what we need in the 21st century and is not dying out fast enough
The scene at bray station yesterday was a mess, glad I took the bus to bray and back home, the bus was almost full but I managed to get on before it got completely full.
Ive just seen people walking out of a DART 8500 onto the tracks, on Twitter, and I don't blame them. Hot weather, and appaling response from Iarnrod Eirrean. Awful!
@@Irishtransportspotter Not even that! They should extend the platforms to accomodate bigger trains, so that the risk of COVID is less. 8 cars for a big event is not good enough.
@@unitedrail-mainchannel8991 they can't just extend platforms whenever they wish. There may be infrastructure (railway related and not) blocking the ends of the platforms. The trains in Ireland and most other countries have a set length that they can't go beyond so that they fit in smaller signal blocks and platforms that "don't need to be extended." I think Victor's solution of installing Air-conditioning units would be a good option. I see no point in doing it on the 81/83s since they are on their way out but the 8500 Family could use them.
@@IESpotter it is kind of obvious that air con would not fix capacity issues. Like I said, extending platforms to accomodate longer car trains would help the capacity.
I was on the dart that had to be evacuated, it was a mix of people fainting due to heat and it being unsafe to move due to people being impatiets, forcing opening the doors and walking the tracks
This incident needs to be fully investigated by the Gardai with a view to certain individuals being held criminally liable and a file being sent to the DPP - criminal charges need to be brought against certain individuals and they need to be brought before the courts, because this avoidable incident was totally unacceptable

No problem glad you enjoyed it.
I agree like they could have given the people who had to jump out of the carriages a whole week of free travel
They had a few 29000's running it, that was the last one that actually made it to the platform, I was on the 8100 behind and we had to evacuate
@@Irishtransportspotter I would've liked that

I believe they are meant to have air con but they don't use it
Kind of silly to have the All Ireland final on the same day as the Airshow

im glad the rosslare trains both directions were'nt affected

I instead went to the hill after failed to get on the train
We missed 3 trains before my dad said were going to the hill

Huh?
do u know what exactly happened?

Overcrowding due to Bray Air Display. The event shouldn't have gone ahead if Irish Rail wasn't equipped for the event.
Why am i watching this
Its shocking how people are crammed on train like on First Capital Connect 2 year later, Irish Rail should be ashamed of themselves.
Absolutely wow… They definitely could’ve done better…
Yes definitely
