I have a 1970 Ford 3000 diesel and can testify that it is an outstanding piece of equipment that has greatly exceeded all expectations. Now I see why after watching this video. They don't make them like they used to.

Grew up with Ford tractors in the 60's 70's and till present time.
    I still own a Ford 7000 and a Ford 3600 both diesel.
I like the Ford tractors cause they are reliable, tough and easy to work on. You can still buy just about any part for repairs or replace.
I just recently bought a Ford 501 7' sickle mower to cut my hay. Works like a charm!

Those old Ford 2000 tractors are everywhere up here in these hills. My dad was a all Oliver man but in 53 my papaw got a Ford 8N series from a new Ford tractor dealership that was 25 miles closer than Oliver and allis Chalmers dealership. By today's standards you would be amazed how much work that little Ford tractor could handle.

I am still using a 10 series Ford. It's on its way for its second engine overhaul.
Used and abused by many, with a loader, run low on oil, low on coolant (not by me) it just keeps going. I think that these along with a few other 60's and 70's design tractors is where they reached the apex. Fords, Masseys and Fiats of that era remain highly sought after.
I considered getting a new machine, but they cost as much as a house and they practically do the same job - maybe a little faster.
In fact I just got another used 10 series, so I should be all set for another 30 years! Let's hope that there will be parts support in the future.

Ford had some advantages such as considerably fast max road speed, exceeding ~45 kph by the time with models 3000, 3600, 5000 etc. But the others (MF 135-165, Fiat 480-640 in a similar power range) could not as seen around here. But it's also commonly told the steering elements and the front axle damaged faster due to the speed. And Ford tractors had unic dashboard.
Ford's gearbox is a bit different than seen on the other tractors also.
Ford was fun to drive but I have no idea to work with...

Nice, well shot, piece of propaganda. Despite all the so called quality checks on the Ford 6X line, they still managed to produce a line of 'lemon tractors', with many inherent faults.
So much so, that a lot of revisions were required, and the tractor line re introduced to market in 1968, as the 6Y range.
Never did like Fords short stroke engine - very little torque - you had to rev the guts out if them to get anything close to an acceptable performance.
A Perkins engine, on the other hand, had a longer crankshaft through, and a better torque figure as a result. Easier on fuel use too.
Only thing I would say Ford got right on the original 6X range , was the bonnet styling, with its fluted design on the sides - much more aesthetically pleasing compared to the 6Y range styling. I guess having had to spend so much money fixing all the mechanical faults, money had to be saved elsewhere, wherever possible. A simplified, and hence cheaper to produce bonnet design, was one such example.
