Between you and Mike Morgan, you're driving me to get my own saw mill and start making my own lumber. Great job and you made it look so easy. I'm just about ready to pull the trigger! Thanks!!!
So glad you now have the time to do this work and still have more family time. Loved the video content and all the camera angles in addition to your saving $800+. Blessings!
Got to the end of your mill video and saw the green grass on the pond dam and said out loud, "Oh come on, Adam, you're really not going to show us the pond?" Thank you for the update, looking great!
Adam, LUV a good pile of lumber too, only I am not as spoiled, I have to buy mine. Can’t quite justify a sawmill for myself. That’s okay, I can buy from folks like you and I’m good with that. I did similar over last winter only I did my pole barn porch ceiling. I wanted shiplap or tongue and groove Hemlock. Found a younger gentleman close to me, bought roughly 670 board feet for a good price. Made all my shiplap boards and stained it and now I can enjoy it. Again, keep up the good work.
Wishing i had gotten into this 50yrs ago when i was still young. But they didn`t have things like these bandsaw mills back when i was your age. What they did have, we couldn`t afford to buy it. Great job Adam. It`s really awesome to see you youngsters doing this.
You are great at videoing, editing & the material you share, Adam - so interesting, & I appreciate your choice of background music!! 👍 God bless you and your family! 🙏💞🙏
@AdamsMom921 Always pleasant to watch Adam's videos!! I mute so many other channels' videos when the music starts because it's aggravating!! 😬 Adam never fails!! 🙏💓 How is your airbnb doing? I'm sure you stay booked because it's so beautiful!! Have a blessed weekend!
Just a quarter inch gap between the boards would massively increase airflow, drying them much faster and more thoroughly. Great to see my siphon idea working!
This channel is going to be huuuge! :D As I said few videos ago - I'm watching ALL of them one by one due to my similar projects on the way :) All best from Poland, Europe :D
yes it's nice to have a sawmill and saw what you need. i have not sawed in over a month be cause heat and smoke you did a nice job i really like ship lap. take care, be safe and well.
Here’s hoping you get those spruce logs sawn up before they get too dry! Problem with spruce is the knots are 100 times harder than the clear wood when sawing dry logs. Even a perfect new blade will want to climb or dive when you get into a knot. You will know what I’m talking about if you ever saw a big spruce that was grown out in the open with disproportionally big knots!
You guessed 18 boards from the first tree, got 16. That's pretty damn good eyeballing you can do now that you're really running the saw! Can't wait to see this end up on the other wall in the garage.
Nice detail, instructions and video. The work reflects excellence, well done Love Watching, Listening and Learning from your Videos. 😊✨🪵✨👍👍👍 from Canada 🇨🇦
Adam I always look forward to your videos! Milling isn’t my thing but I wouldn’t pass on your video to help give you views and likes 😊. Your giving me confidence to start my own channel even though I don’t really have content. Maybe I could be a Seinfeld of UA-cam… a channel about nothing 😂
Nice work on the garage walls, the ship lap looks great. I've done 2 garages with OSB (I think it looks cool) and even that was a huge upgrade from dust collecting studs and tar paper that was getting damaged.
Great video Adam!!! Your hard work is very inspiring and your garage is going to look awesome when you get it all finished! I wish you the best with your pond repair! Have a great night! 😊
Nice to see the pond filling up again. I would not butt those boards together when stacking, leave a gap between them so air can move freely. Nice stack of lumber though.
Nice close up shots of the sawmill in action! I always love a nice stack of lumber. I’m working with rough sawn a lot. It’s perfect for my barn and sheds. No planing necessary for that!
nice job thinking about winter projects now! Also thanks for the recommendation for the Togo Power station. I got the 300 and its perfect for my security system back up power!
Here’s where having a solar Kiln would speed up your drying time on that lumber! Hope you consider building in the future. Many types and plans exist and the whole thing could run on solar and wind power.
Have you looked at painting the ends of the logs to prevent them from drying faster than the center? Andy's Little Homestead (Facebook person, very entertaining) had a video about that. He's got a saw mill, but it's the giant wheel of death type.
@hometownacres, I've just noticed that the saw dust exits your mill right where you walk, causing dust in your shoes. Curious if you noticed in your research when purchasing your mill if there are options/manufacturers who put the dust chute on the other side?
You should buy or build a chainsaw attachment for the other end of your saw mill to make slightly less precise beams without bark. Keep it lightweight and fast. Technically only need to slab top and bottom with chainsaw for sawmill to do the rest. Just a thought, the difficult part of building the sawmill is already there.
Would it be a good idea to leave space on the SIDES of the lumber? Air can not get all around the wet lumber with them pushed up tight against each other.
Great video Adam. I’ve had the sawmill bug for a little over a year but can’t justify spending the money right now. I may try to make a deal at Boonville or Bunyan. We’ll see!
Do you send your old blades out to be re-sharpend ? Also the way I was taught to undo a bandsaw blade is to take the wrist tie off and toss the blade away from you. MUCH safer than trying to unwind it while holding onto it!
When stickering, why not leave a gap between each board? It appeared when you stacked, you put boards side by side with no air gap between. Wouldn't a half inch air gap between each board permit better air flow for drying?
Awesome looking good. I have the same problem. Had a one and a half acre pond dug last August and due to a bad install on the drain pipe I will be draining my pond this August to fix the problem. The contractor said he will get it fixed but I am a little unsure if he will. I looked at other excavators to help. I even tried sodium bentonite. I may line the pond bottom with it. Did you ever consider using it? May make a good video about the sodium bentonite clay. Thanks for the videos!!!
Very nice presentation today , Job well done, Both in the milling and the videography. The time, effort and thought you take to produce these is very apparent . And appreciated. The reason I'm asking is I believe there may have been a mistake at the mfg in Missouri. I got a easy boardwalk 40 too. But it has a 630 which is I believe a 18 HP. But should be a 24 or 28. Just wondering what yours is.
Nice stack of wood. Just a quick question... Yesterday, my wife was at one of tke furniture stores near the lake. She saw someone that looked very familiar. She couldn't place the person... Later... She thinks that it may have been you. She only watches your videos more or less when i have it on the TV. So she is not sure at all. Just wondering?
@@HometownAcres This is Trudi, the wife. Cool. I'm glad I didn't blow your cover. 😂 I'm the one who did a double take when I first glanced at you. Keep up the nice work on UA-cam. Frank definitely enjoys it - as do I when I watch.
Adam, I'm not sawmill savvy. My question is, does leaving the cut boards on top of each other as you cut. Does the extra weight pushing down on the blade, dull the blade faster? Thanks.
Years ago, I had a friend, who had a Lucas Mill, mill some big Radiata pines into 2x4s (or rather, 100x50, which makes more sense...😋). I got about 250 3m (10ft) lengths. Took me several years to use them - woodsheds, chicken shade cover, pig shed, and a couple of English style 5 bar gates. Saved a lot of good wood from being burned...👍💪🪓🇦🇺
Between you and Mike Morgan, you're driving me to get my own saw mill and start making my own lumber. Great job and you made it look so easy. I'm just about ready to pull the trigger! Thanks!!!

I love that sawmill and big cants. They are massive looking!
How cool Adam. Your hard work shows and more family time to boot. Super happy for you.

That must be so satisfying to see a log become lumber you made with your owns hands!!!
One of my favorite things is getting through a project using stuff I have laying around. I'm completely satisfied when I don't have to drop a nickel.
It so satisfying to see a well stacked pile of wood! Nice work pal!

Adam,
I really like the simplicity of the EZ Boardwalk mill. From your first review of it when you traveled to see it, I was sold.
Great stack!

I need that wood chipper right now. just cut down 2 acres of cedars. my neighbor has a 8" I have a 6 LOL
Good work man.
I would love to have some of those odd thin boards from your final cuts for crafting.
Awesome work Adam. Looking forward to getting a mill myself and doing the same!
Remove one board from each stack, You need some space at the edges too Adam.
Thanks Much..

To speed up blade replacement, move the power head to the other end of the track. less walking.
That’s a great idea. Never thought of that
I love it when someone saves money great job Adam

I cut my logs long so I have some room to cut off the ends of that happens

Mr Adam - Any update on pond?!?!?
I Love working with wood!!! Obviously, you do also. Good work!
Great job Adam.
You need to put up a lumber drying shed to protect the lumber while it is drying.
Awesome
Great work. Curious as to why you didn't leave an inch or so between boards side-to-side to allow airflow vertically, as well as horizontally.
I’ve found that it still dries just fine and takes up less space stacked tight
Would it be a good idea to leave space on the SIDES of the lumber? Air can not get all around the wet lumber with them pushed up tight against each other.
100% think it would be awesome to see you do a solar kiln project :)
Great job
Just curious on why leaving the top cut boards when cutting down further.
Always fun watching your videos. Question...what does the blade look like it's cutting at an angle @11:52?
Do you use a metal detector to check for any metal in the logs before milling them?👍👍🇺🇸
Great video Adam. I’ve had the sawmill bug for a little over a year but can’t justify spending the money right now. I may try to make a deal at Boonville or Bunyan. We’ll see!
I think I would build a drying shed.
Pone looks great and that lumber Probably straighter and flatter. Then any of what you would buy at home depot?
Are you getting any of this heavy rain across the northeast? It should help filling up that pond if so.
Do you send your old blades out to be re-sharpend ? Also the way I was taught to undo a bandsaw blade is to take the wrist tie off and toss the blade away from you. MUCH safer than trying to unwind it while holding onto it!
Not yet but I have about 12 dull blades that I need to get resharpened
When stickering, why not leave a gap between each board? It appeared when you stacked, you put boards side by side with no air gap between. Wouldn't a half inch air gap between each board permit better air flow for drying?
make a video of sharpening that blade.
Leaving the boards stack on each other as you cut down… doesn’t that put more pressure on the blade to flatten out the teeth?
Hey Adam how is the pond doing. Is it now holding water?
Wait til the end of the video
