@@ArtofLunatik I’d always love the campaign that said “Now You’re Playing With Power!” In 2 ways by the way: “SUPER POWER”, “PORTABLE POWER”. I just wish that marketing would keep going on forever especially with the 3DS with them saying “NOW YOU’RE PLAYING WITH POWER! 3D POWER!”
Just wondering who would dislike this video but more importantly WHY!?! These Commercials are still Awesome! Maybe even more then they were back in the day.
The 90s practical effects came to a peak. Digital was still expensive and used mainly behind the scenes. Once things could be "edited in post" the humanness and well built quality left
I'm playing through Super Mario Kart right now on my Nintendo switch. So many awesome memories that game. Got it on my 11th birthday. It's kind of funny but, on that day I also got a 1998 White fox 2 seater Go Kart. And then when I got the game, I was like "sweet this will help me practice driving my go-kart"
2:12 "Genesis does what Nintendon't" is what they said. "WHERE ARE YOU GOING TO FIND THIS PREMIUM, ADDICTING, CHALLENGING, AMAZING, ONE OF A KIND GAME? NOT ON SEGA!" is what the King said.
Dude most of these were way weirder than the Sega Saturn commercials from the late 90's lol. Seems crazy that the SNES was so popular, yet the Saturn was in a distant 3rd place during the 5th generation. It had to be the stupid move Sega made with releasing the Saturn way too early.
Looking at the lineup for the Sega Saturn had they waited until September they would have had a whole lot of games on the system but because they wanted to beat the PlayStation one out they ended up screwing Sega forever causing them to go back to being a third-party on distributor
I remember more of the dog than the game for Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Also, I remember in the cartoon Cow and Chicken they played a parody of it called "Immoral Wombat" 🤣
All my thanks to the poster for keeping the past alive. Sadly, to hear these vids in perfect sound... this exists only in our memories when in it was new. Aw well... for what it's worth, this sounds great for how old it is.
Super Nintendo was amazing. Super Mario World was a system seller. DK was a system seller. Super Metroid was a must. FF2 and 3. Chrono and Earthbound. And Mega Man X
At 34:25 that Super Mario World title screen is very strange. It says Super Mario Bros. 4 on it. No copy of SMW I ever played had that there why is it there?
@@Andronicus87 So after some research I think I have an answer. That commercial was an early teaser for SNES and some of the footage was demo or beta. The Mario Brothers 4 title is seen once more at an early trade show. After that Nintendo decided that they wanted Super Mario World to be a break from the NES Mario games and thus the subtitle eluding to the 4th game in the series was removed. Similar to the break between Mega Man and X.
@@Alamyst2011 Actually I found out what it was. It's the Japanese versions title screen. All Japanese version have super mario bros. 4 even on the cartridge and box art.
I remember the buildup to the release of the Super NES in early 1991 very well. Every magazine story, every television ad…even the layouts in catalogs from Sears, JCPenney and BEST. Even better, the system did not disappoint when it was released. My mom picked one up in September of ‘91 along with PilotWings, and by Christmas of that year my brother and I had added Final Fight, Super R-Type, ActRaiser, F-Zero, Ultraman, and Super Ghouls n’ Ghosts. Looking back, we were clearly spoiled rotten, but the next year in October of ‘92, after being wowed by Sonic the Hedgehog, and looking forward to the release of the Sega CD, I decided I wanted a Sega Genesis, so I STOLE $50 from the purse of a childhood friend of my mother’s who was visiting us that month and used it along with allowance money to buy one. Then, for Christmas of 1992, my mother bought my brother and I a Sega CD-for $300-all during a period in which she was fighting cancer. She survived and lived another 31 years, but when I die, if the Lord sends me to burn in the fiery pits of Hell and Eternal Damnation for ever and ever (Amen), this will be why. God bless you, Mom. I’m sorry I was a rotten kid!
The Super NES had some awesome games (Cool Spot, Barbie Super Model, Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow, Pilotwings, Zoop, Secret of Mana, Killer Instinct, Scooby-Doo, etc)
FFVI, FFIV, Chrono Trigger, Ogre Battle, Act Raiser, SMBW, Super Mario RPG, Secret of Evermore, Zelda A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Mega Man, Donkey Kong Country, Turtles: In Time, Super Contra, Goof Troop

I say this as a person who thinks that the Super Nintendo was the greatest video game system, pound for pound, of all time: Their ads were terrible in comparison to the Genesis ads. They just felt corny, like ad execs saw the Genesis ads and tried to ape that style, and failed. I mean FFIV and FFVI are absolute classics and the ads for them absolutely were garbage.
The Batman Returns commercial seems a bit outta place for the whole EXTREME early Millennial/GenX crowd. And wow, they really wanted 'WeaponLord' to be something.
In watching these commercials, it’s pretty clear that the Super Nintendo did NOT have BLAST PROCESSING, which is why sports and action games sucked on the SNES. The frame rate took a nose dive constantly. You can’t do this on Nintendo, Genesis DOES. Genesis! Genesis!! GENESIS!!! GENESIS DOES, what NintenDON’T!
MEGA D 64 1979 It’s embarrassing to even engage your comment. You obviously have not hooked up the Genesis and SNES to a prestigious sound system. But sure.. 8 bit yeah. Lol.
My original gameboy broke when i was a kid. Nintendo consoles are terrible but there games are good. They could have sold allot more games if there comercials were not so bad.
It should be a damn prerequisite to play some of these classics before being hired by gaming industries. If not for anything else than to teach these modern day soyboys and milktoast fence sitters coming fresh out of college to appreciate good craftsmanship and innovations of the time. Honor the past and understand that they're sitting on the shoulders of giants who build the empire they enjoy.
Why the fuck would you call them "soyboys"? lol is your head so far up your ass that you think there's something "effeminate" about being younger than you, or are you just a little insecure that your elders don't respect your love for video games so you gotta pretend they're super manly? Hundreds of shitty and broken games came out for the SNES, take off the Monster Energy green colored glasses and chill the fuck out
The only limit back then was technology. You could make anything, naughy or disturbing, it was fun. Now, when we have everything the commercials are so sterile, because some asshole, on gaming media or social media, may find it offensive...
