Notes:
Mara is a goddess of winter and death in Slavic mythology. When she embraces, she take one's soul. Namely, "in Mara's embrace" means death or near death.
Mara is a powerful Slavic goddess who personifies winter, the cycles of life and death, and dominion over nature.
