Please, GRAI, if there's not material at the time for new album, could you do more covers on Alkonost, your Years of Prophecy cover is the best thing i ever heard, period. You realy can take songs to a new level!
Great song, great band and a great reaction! Grai is pronounced gr-eye or like rye bread with a hard g sound in front. The name translates as the cry of birds, like crows and ravens. Mara is the spirit of winter and death. This video is allegorical. The band is from central Russia from Tatarstan.

I've been into them for a year or so. Even though I can't understand the vocals, they are great along with the very heavy metal playing. This song was the one that introduced me to Grai on UA-cam, when I was watching another Russian metal group who used canned keyboards. The musicianship of Grai is superb.
I feel the same listening to this one, great song, and a band i never heard before, so yes i have to see what else this band can bring to the table surely!!

Mara is the goddess of the Slavic pantheon who symbolizes death and winter cold. Morana's image is not identical. She stands on the guard of the worlds of Reveal and Haven, meets the souls of the dead. The Goddess Mara among the Slavs is strict and principled, she does not forgive change, who turns to her for help and does not hold his word will be punished by death.
Mara - Slavic Goddess of winter and a dream of calm, she is a Death. Thats why a warrior running away in the clip)) he scared) and he died, Mara took him in her arms. Zima - is a Winter on Russian lang. Belaya zima - white winter. It's a Russian band)
The English translation into the meaning of this song... The white winter came though had not asked. It goes on to explain how severe the winter was while the sun hid. She could not sleep and it had knocked on her window. It took her beloved away from her. It ruined her soul. The fierce winter took her to the arms of Mara.
Its slavic pagam metal band from Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan formed in 2005. It’s name - “GRAI” meaning the bird’s cry. If you like Floor, you will like the band Tigersclaw, because Elena Minina is beautiful & sings divinely. Here is a link, her singing & playing the piano ua-cam.com/video/RQmeqJukJHM/v-deo.html. Wellcome to the world of folk-metall then) It's as diverse as humanity itself, so you'll allways find something new. As for Gry, Arkona, etc. - vocal harmonics are the Russian folk-music in a nutshell, so you just have to mix a metall in and here you go)
The white haired woman in the video clip is "Mara". She takes the life of the warrior. The growl accompanied at the end of the song is supposed to represent death, as she says, "zabrala milogo drouga"/"she took my kind friend away".
Second biggest pagan metal band in Russia after Arkona I think... in my view they are amazing and it is a bit sad that they are not bigger and on bigger stages..... and yes that is growling they have a third male vocalist (basist I think) that does growling.... more prominent on other songs..... I am not into pagan metal normally but Grai blew me away
This is very good. It reminds me of a Russian band named Arkona, except not as heavy. Arkona's vocalist (Masha "Scream") can also growl but not like Tatiana from Jinjer. Here's a song to check out..if you like it, maybe you could do a reaction to one of their other songs. (ua-cam.com/video/SgXlUxDGFvU/v-deo.html). Cheers!
