Tyler Burton in some Metropolitian areas in the United States, the Interstate highways & automobiles that killed off many passenger trains are now choked,clogged with very heavy traffic, some are already parking lots, there the commuter & passenger trains are doing well in ridership. Ridership on Amtrak trains has been increasing on its Pacific Surfliner,San Joaquin & Capital Corridor train routes in California. I ride the Pacific Surfliners between San Diego, Los Angeles & Oxnard,CA when I’m home in the San Diego area on visits up to a week. This year the Pacific Surfliner route will either reach the 3 million passenger rider mark and/or will surpass it.
It's nice they're building the T1, but we really need the Commodore Vanderbilt or the 20th Century Limited or Hiawatha as additions to those classes and even the ATSF Blue Goose. That'd be such a nice thing to see nowadays.
A couple of days ago I was reading the latest issue of train magazine, and found out that the Mark Twain Zephyr is now being restored to running condition. Isn't that awesome?
