    As you know, quite a few people make UA-cam tutorial videos; you really have a talent for presenting the information in clear, thoughtful ways. Like many before me, I finally reached a point of being fed-up with Adobe and Corel products; recently found the Affinity product line.
    In fairness, I have learned an incredible amount from many people who, just like yourself, took the time and posted a video to help others (like me) out. Having over twenty years of experience with one of those suites, the notion of switching to another platform was frankly terrifying; in particular, your videos have made the transition virtually seamless.
    Best summarized, every time I intend upon watching one of your videos to figure out a single "thing" it seems I end up learning at least "five other things" in the process; every one of them are always spot-on in terms of relevance and extremely helpful, too. Thank you SO MUCH for taking time to make these videos...

    What a great tip on how to make a round brush improve the mask of an angular corner! So much better than making the brush microscopically smaller as I have done for years. There is always a better way-thanks for showing it.

    Thanks Olivio. This is brilliant. I actually thought I was getting OK at the whole selection/masking process (thanks to some of your other videos, which have helped hugely). But this one is a whole new level. That trick with the "hair" brush for masking hair has blown me away. Must go and grab those brushes now. Thank you again!

    Marvellous, Olivio! This is something that seems to have been lacking amongst all the tutorials I have seen. I already practice some of it, however the spacing is a very helpful addition - as is customising the brushes, which I keep forgetting about.

    Hi Olivia. In this video you mention how it is sometimes easier to use the iPad for adjustments. Would you consider doing a video where you show us how to use a photo you are editing on the desktop, switch over to the iPad, continue editing on the same photo, then going back to the desktop to continue editing. Thank you.

    I've done entire masks this way when the selection brush became too frustrating to work with. A nice tip perhaps for drawing/masking a straight line: just put one brush dot at the beginning of the line, hold shift, put a brush dot at the end of a line. Tadaa, line! Or a bar, depending on your brush size of course.
    After that you can fix the irregularities. And don't forget you can change the opacity of a mask so you can see what you're (un)masking.

      @@OlivioSarikas One more question that's sorta related to this topic. I can never seem to get my selections around hair to look nice. There's always a lot of fuzz/haze or distortion in the detail of the hair around edge of the selection, your selections in your videos however never seem to exhibit this. am I doing something wrong?

    At 3:30 when alt-clicking on the mask to make it black and white, what action is happening? I can’t figure how to do this on the iPad version....

    • @ghaskell44
      @ghaskell44 4 роки тому

      On iPad, in layers studio, select the mask layer, then click the three dots to bring up layer options, then click "Solo" to turn it to black and white. When you're done with the mask brush, click "Solo" again to return to normal. Alternatively, in channels studio click on the "Composite Alpha" icon to turn to b&w, then click the little return arrow at the top (in the channels title bar) to return it back to color.
