I love Tim's thumbnail pictures for his videos. They are the best. Thanks for the great content. Your advice has saved me days of work around our farm. Everyone should shout Tim a beer if they see him. He deserves it.
Thanks Tim, I am a sucker for tools and especially drill bits. I actually came away from Farmfest without a new bit. But I did have ever sharpener that was being demo. I did a quick search on evil bay and the bit is there. Cheers
I've always been told to drill pilot holes and use cutting fluid to disperse the heat. That new bit looks great but I suppose its all about cost and how long it lasts. Just like what you say about gripples. Oh a video on gripple strainers would be cool. I'd be keen to compare that new style of bit when drilling 10 holes through steel against a 2 standard bits like a 5mm then a 13mm. 10 pilot with the 5mm holes and then drill out those 10 holes to 13mm. If that makes sense. You could also check how hot the bits are after the 10 holes as heat as you know is what ruins them. At $200 for a 1-10mm and $400 for a larger drill bit set my next purchase is for a top of the line sharpener which is about $600. I love your videos they are a huge help when fencing.
Hey mate. The step drill bits don’t generate nearly the heat as a normal bit due to low surface area in the cut. Definitely don’t buy a cheap step bit though. Quality bits all the way!
@@FarmLearningTimThey are advertised as “lasting longer” without an independent cycle test x speed test x cost (a total CBA) then the same comparison with rivals the data is far from complete. It will dull and the speed will reduce further impacting the small efficiency you achieved. The manufactures claim that it’s 6x faster (when in reality it’s 2.2x faster makes me suspicious enough to keep away from it.
Yowie their is no need to be rude. The thumbnail pics are good. He's holding the bit and the background is metal that could potentially be being drilled. Its not like Tim has a team of designers to help him.

Love your videos
Looks like it beats stopping to change for larger bits after drilling a pilot hole.

They are expensive, but oh man, good.

But how do you sharpen them?
That's the trick, you don't...
They are long lasting and very hard. Designed to be disposable.

I really enjoy your videos but what is with the stupid thumbnail pictures. I imagine that would put a lot of people off watching.
Umm, gee, thanks.... Opposite. Since changing my designs MORE people are watching. Maybe not so stupid....

@angusanderson4117 I think you missed the point old mate
