In his final farewell speech his aura of pride never abandoned him, yet his title of Sin did, for the reasons he was proud could never be sinful. His latest act and transparent heartfelt words lead to the embodying of humility, he became the pinnacle of what any man could aspire to be at life's end and felt an enormous pride for the life he was leaving behind. A death that made him whole, the personification of proud humility, a striking paradox. Sure Escanor finale is great but for me his bravery of fighting against that demon spawn shows the greatest side of Escanor. Even at his weakest he is brave, loyal, and uphold his pride as knight and member of the 7 deadly sins even as human with power rating below baby. I don't think Escanor can't be much more Gigachad when he's on steroid but I was wrong, he's even more Gigachad at his weakest

This man chose to burn himself alive just to see his friend live and continue to remember him so that he as a person will never die. Think of a happy ending! Ban finally gets to spend his life with elaine stealing the one thing that ended up stealing his heart instead. Meliodas and Elizabeth finally get to spend the time that was lost over thousands of years finally having kids to tell the story about the lion sin of pride escanor. Diane and King are out traveling the world together happily married enjoying the sites they see. Gowther studying more about dreams and understanding them to the fine point. Finally, merlin looking for the way to possibly bring back the only man that truly loved her.
Escanor went out fighting for his friends and his unrequited love, in the end he got to say goodbye and was gifted if even for a moment the bittersweet love of his beloved and he cried a single tear knowing he could not be the man that could be there to share that love with her forever

Escanor was the main reason i ever watched 7ds. He's the only human ever in history to say that he defeated Estarossa, Meliodas, and Zeldris, greanted Mael was Estarossa but no knew at the time, but Escanor still has that credit to his name. He was and still is my favorite character in all of 7ds, and i had to watch him die in the last season, that was the second time i ever cried for a character on a show, the first time i cried over a character in a show was Dean Winchester from Supernatural. Whatever the end may be we can all be assured one final lasting moment where perhaps decades from our passing after our name, our voice, our face has been long forgotten, someone will speak of us in a story or as a dim memory. Still a sad death. He couldn't get the girl, couldn't stick around to see how his friends' lives turned out, and didn't even get to go to the afterlife. The way Escanor died - consuming his life force to fuel sunshine - destroyed his soul, meaning there was nothing left to move on. Also means he cannot reincarnate. He's just gone without a trace, and they'll never see him again even when they too cross into the afterlife.
I love the scene of 21:40 when demon king trows his death zero, the ost is just perfect sad than animation is not up to that scene, hope someday the remake that scene
What touches us the most are the flames of his heart. As a person For his friends. For his love. As much as he is unrequited As much as she is unrequited Till the end, he wishes that Merlin finds the person that she loves and who loves her with all the magnitude. All these people who are saying Merlin loves Arthur are just those who read wikis and novel discussions. Merlin only uses Arthur for her reasearch and pursuit of knowledge as she's the Sin of Gluttony.
But it's also true that Arthur has now become deranged and we can't tell where Merlin has gone. Arthur may have become possesive kinda but Merlin never felt anything for him.

Escanor was the single best thing of Nanatsu, and the only thing that was worth watching of the show/manga.
Its a real shame that not only he died, but Merlin after his heroic sacrifice, says that she always loved Meliodas... man, fuck that.
Except they made it Really clear that Merlin didn't love Escanor. She couldn't, and Escanor KNEW that. He didn't begrudge her, and didn't hold it against her.

Because the whole fucking story had to go around him for some reason. He is one of the most toxic Main characters for the main story that I have seen in my life.
But regardless, Meliodas was the light at the end of the tunnel, and Merlin sudden love for him felt overly forced. Like a lot of other shit to make him unbeliable strong.

Whatever the end may be we can all be assured one final lasting moment where perhaps decades from our passing after our name, our voice, our face has been long forgotten, someone will speak of us in a story or as a dim memory. So that we may live as a spark for those that come after.
i always remember this death as one of the best a mangaka can give to a character, Escanor at the very end, the sin of pride and the very representation of it, was the most humble and caring

Still a sad death. He couldn't get the girl, couldn't stick around to see how his friends' lives turned out, and didn't even get to go to the afterlife. The way Escanor died - consuming his life force to fuel sunshine - destroyed his soul, meaning there was nothing left to move on. Also means he cannot reincarnate. He's just gone without a trace, and they'll never see him again even when they too cross into the afterlife.
