I believe the film was a solid story. Arthas is an important character in the story, one of the top 4. But Thrall is pretty much Azeroth, as important for both horde and alliance. Problem was, only fans would get the film imo, probably the same would have happened if arthas arc would have been used with the same approach. Let's hope with the new ownership by Microsoft a new project is going ro be put together.
@@rhysioeren3203 If it was the 1st new movie, you needed to attract as many audience as possible, so there would be a chance to tell the whole story, the dark portal story is kinda boring comparing with Arthas story line, especially to those audience who do not play the game. You could start to tell the earlier story after your movie project hooked up enough fans. but you can see it fails even WC fans were not buying it, and I haven't mention how terrible those real human actors were.
@@preds43 yeah and it doesn't start from the dark portal either. but you need to know for the 1st movie, you have to use the best story to hook more and enough audience to get more chance and money to tell more part of the whole story, that's not hard to understand.
I just recently discovered from Warcraft wiki that "Mal'Ganis and the other dreadlords secretly planted clues and false information about Frostmourne in the dwarves' camp in order to lead them to it" which is from Chronicles 3 Because I was wondering why would Muradin locate an artifact that dangerous.
what about neltharion if there is part of neltharion's soul in shadowlands where he will redeem himself as the earth-warder black dragon aspect of earth and black dragonflight and good dragon he was once when he was corrupted by old gods and shadowflame.
Through his seeking for vengeance, he lost his own soul for the lich king , blinded and manipulated by his anger. Poor Arthas thought he would find salvation in that path, toke lifes of his loyal soldiers and never stopped . In return he became a pawn for the lich king
24:29 Mal'ganis in WoW was just his souless clone/copy. The real one died (like Muradin, the one in WoW was an impostor with amnesia who was made to think he was Muradin) with his soul sucked into the cursed blade that hit his... ummm...
What always bothered me about medivh is that he failed to see Arthas was the true threat to Azeroth. He was so dismissive of the northern kingdoms. To me, he cared more for Thrall and the horde. Maybe he still hated humanity.
I understand that Arthas purging Stratholme was the only choice he had, but he should've realized Mal'Ganis was manipulating him into doing his bidding.
There really was not correct solution at Stratholme. If he did nothing, then his people would have turned into the undead, slaughtering their friends and family and bolstering the forces of the scourge. And we all know what happens if he saves the few that are not infected. He was put infront of an impossible choice and acted with his best intentions, but just as the saying goes: The road to hell is paved with good intentions. That is why the culling of stratholme works so well as a story beat.
And after Stratholme he ended up losing more that a city of undeads... most of the greatest warriors Lordaeron had leaved with Uther and the Silver Hand got disbanded, that's a bigger loss than this obvious bait, admit it, the culling WAS the bait, not Northrend.
No, it wasn't, he had to flee to Kalimdor like Medivh told him to do so, as Medivh said the Eastern Kingdoms were lost and the scourge was made to the sole purpose of destroying Lordaeron, the culling was a rookie mistake, he even said he killed them because "they won't like to be turned into undeads", that's an emotional argument, people don't understand he lost even more with the suspension of most of the paladins.
@@bass-dc9175 i mean, i like how people still discuss this, after all these years, it shows how Warcraft 3 and Arthas were perfectly written, but to me Stratholme was petty clear, Arthas only destroyed plagued houses, not the entire city(there still people alive at the end cutscene), and you can wait until they convert before killing them, confirming that everyone Arthas killed in Stratholme were doomed. There was really no time to do anything else.
His soul was gone long time ago, he had to be put down, and there was no redemption for him. I have always thought he was too dangerous even when he was "good".

To me, Arthas is Warcraft's Anakin.
He is, exactly. A pity he had to be killed by nameless characters instead of being redeemed by jaina
We got a shimmering light of him in the void. Such a missed opportunity.
They both kill their mentors and the mentor becomes a ghost.
They follow the same rules of story telling. So yeah, they will have a million similarities.
if there is a crossover, they both would become bros
Story of arthas still one of the best in the whole game !
not only in the game, but in all games and fiction!
They need to add an alternetive campaign if you mannage to beat Mal'ganis's base on hard mode and defeating his base in Northrend without frostmourne
