Sonic Mania Plus Oil Ocean Zone Act 2 Encore Mode Glitch (Almost)

I was goofing around at the very beginning of Oil Ocean Zone Act 2 in Encore Mode with Knuckles when the fog started building up again and I had to go back and pull the lever to clear it away. Somehow I managed to get myself latched onto the wall immediately to the left of it and climb above it, getting placed halfway inside the wall. I kept jumping and was able to get all the way back up to the end of Act 1, where I would get stuck and essentially softlock the game. I did it twice before deciding to record it, but for some reason after I fired up Bandicam I could no longer get up to the top and would instead get pushed out by an invisible oil slide. In fact, when I have a Fire Shield equipped, the it catches fire and you can see exactly where this slide is.
