Spot on. The Apple adapter is basically the ONLY licensed product that will allow HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) video output. It absolutely ridiculous that as an owner of an iPhone or whatever device along with being a paid subscriber of such streaming services that I am controlled on what device I can watch them on. What a sad time.

This setup allows me to mirror my phone. If you connected at OTG cable to a phone or device that you can control it may work. I don’t know. I only tested for use with my phone. If you find out report back here I am curious.
I got it working on my MDX, I had to connect power supply to lighting to HDMI adaptor as well. Only problem is that I can stream UA-cam but can’t stream Netflix. Any idea why?

@Eliana I wasn’t able to get any leads cause I didn’t connect it to my phone my dad happened to buy a laptop and I was able to do it there but I do believe u could use it

If you’re using the same converter try moving it sideways. I recall I had the same issue and I returned it and got a new one. It worked fine but my kids have since stopped using this. They all just stay on their phones. They have no need for the tv screen anymore. It’s obsolete for my household.
Hi Dave, is this by any chance a solution to the problem of a smartphone not supporting MHL (and thus not supporting mirroring/connection with a TV through HDMI input)? Does doing it through RCA inputs mean that any smartphone is supported/a smartphone doesn't need to support MHL? I hope that's what it means, but I'm not sure (and to be honest, encountering the problem I described above kind of made me lose any hope in today's technology/in me ever being able to play videos from my phone to my TV through cables...😵😄...😢 Do you feel my pain?)
The only way I can get to mirror my Apple phone to my car Video screen is with the HDMI adapter and the Apple HDMI dongle. I don’t know of any other way. As far as mirroring to a TV, I am able to mirror to my hisense TV over WiFi. I don’t have a lot of use for that scenario but I understand your pain. This setup is really for the car is really clunky but it works!
@@MaximC no problem sorry it's a year late. I listed one below that works on phones without MHL compatibility just a matter of finding that one for your phone. If yours isn't the old standard micro usb charge port just continue to look for kind that is and look till ya find one that works with all phones mhl or not they make em for iPhones too and all the older androids etc etc
You did not demonstrate using an Android phone yet the title implies it works. There are too many different type of Android devices and they are not equal in capabilities. I have a Google Pixel and its USB C port is not capable of outputting video. Recommend you retitle this video and omit Android from title as it is misleading.

Hi, I have a MDX with rear entertainment system. I put everything together and selected AUX on MDX, however I am not getting any video or audio.

What about the power cable, where is that plugged in the car?
Chi-Chi Owunwanne I have an A/C outlet on the rear console. If you don’t have that you can connect the power to a usb power source in your car.

You don't need the rca box jus need 2 yellow red ad white RCA's two hook up your DVD ect. Get a honest job 😜
