When this coverage was broadcast, would they even have had all of the information? I highly doubt the doctors and family were thinking "Hey, we better be sure the UCI knows about this so they can mention it on air!"
This video came out Saturday morning in the USA, long after the whole world has learned of Muriel fate. The UCI has Never respected the races it makes it's living from :/
When this race ended, most were not even aware there was an accident. Muriel died a day later and there was a minute of silence at the U23 mens event the same day.
It's really disappointing that the UCI didn't even mention the crash in the video or description. Both could have been changed immediately after the tragedy became public.
Swiss team must of reported that Muriel did not pass a time check and was missing. Did UCI wait till the end of the race to begin looking for her? It seems that UCI were covering up during the race and now by releasing this video and not mentioning Muriel...she deserved better.
In better weather, someone in the audience would have seen her go off the road. The biggest problem was the late medical attention because no one knew about her accident. They looked for her because she did not pass the checkpoints.
The weather is not to blame here. UCI is responsible for the safety of the race, and they have failed their obligation. It’s an absolute disgrace that they have not only failed to save the life of this rider, but are now trying to sweep it under the rug.
@@YdegaardI am not in favour of the UCI, nor am I in favour of impunity. The reference to bad weather is because if the television broadcast has been bad for all the events and there is no recording, there were no fans to help. There were no earpieces for the cyclist to ask for help. There was no communication between the teams and the judges. Also the cycle computer can send a satellite alert message, at least on Garmin, I don't know about the other brands. The UCI has not made a statement because the Swiss police have an open investigation and they cannot make a statement. I am against misinformation and cheap commentary. There is information in the Swiss press and France Press. We must wait to see that justice is done and those responsible are found because if cycling is a dangerous sport, it should be less dangerous on a closed circuit. The UCI is based in Switzerland so no one can leave the jurisdiction of the authorities.

History seems to be repeating itself. How many F1 racers lost their lives each year on the circuits before real change happened? It took the tragic death of Senna for the FIA to significantly improve safety measures, which finally put a stop to the frequent fatalities. What is the UCI waiting for? The death of a cycling legend to have a similar impact to Senna's?
It is irresponsible to not even mention or honor Muriel. She deserves more than being ignored by the UCI.

What a disgrace
@@road_rider I am in Zurich, this video was uploaded by the UCI 17h00 Saturday when we all knew the terrible news. Why did they not edit it ?
The UCI is as rotten an organization as there is in sports.
Not even a second for condolences??? A shame

@@tomw0815 yes. But at the moment they post that video…

@@flourbvoy1269 No, they can not be, however it can be taken down and re-upload a new version of it as they should have done by now!
It's sad that UCI failed on safety, yet they failed again on didn't give honor to Muriel.
May she rest in peace on heaven as happy little angel.
Are you aware that there was fatal crash during the race? One Woman died and you do not even mention that. Road cycling has become so reckless.
RIP Muriel Furrer
UCI should be charged with corporate manslaughter
Muriel Furrer, RIP.

Sleep well little angel and RIP 😢 I can‘t believe that someone so young could be taken like that. My thoughts & prayers are with your family 💔

Cat Ferguson, the strongest throughout the race, deserved the win! 💪👏👍
RIP and shame on you UCI!
