AFL is clueless. And they need to fix the umpiring. Absolutely shocking on the weekend.
There are too many rules. And levels to each rule should require a degree in Mathematics to figure out the probabilities.
Also we should also stop whining about the decisions in the media in the moment. Often a lot of the outrage on any incident is whatever the same types decide to put out there. But none of the fans actually care.

Hinkley has done way more as a couch than Mitchell has. Mitchell showed the hawks are an emotion wreck when the going gets tough ! Mitchell as a player tho was completely different. So tough and ruthless. Just not sure he can make coaching with his soft and nurturing approach

@razel6 Yes.Youre right.I guess what inflamed everyone's emotions was the absolutely woeful umpiring and that Hawthorn was gifted 4 goals by the umpires for what seemed to be completely legitimate tackles.Instead of the tackles being rewarded they deemed them dangerous. Also it was a close game which Port might have lost by dint of bad umpiring.

More likely that Roughy after being shafted by the Saints last year decided to give them a little payback and bring Battle over to Hawthorn where he is now the recruiting manager. Every Club in the league is scouting all of the potentially available players who they feel they might have a spot for. Footy is business now, and the business works on winning games and that takes great list management. We might not like it as fans to see our players moving clubs, but players are driven to win premierships and will also go to where they feel they have the best chance.

Hawthorn’s reaction to Hinkley’s cheeky taunt was embarrassing. Sam has been a level-headed coach throughout the year but to assert Hinkley was being aggressive to a Hawthorne player namely Ginny is pathetic and refusing to have a conversation with opposition coach is weak. Captain of Hawthorne (Sicily) behaved like a petulant child on the verge of crying after they (Hawthorne) experienced some discipline. Hinkley’s taunt of an immature player should be celebrated but instead he’s portrayed as a villain. AFL personalities need to stop making conflicting statements. We don’t want robotic football personalities yet the very instance an arrogant team experiences some medicine they cry victim

Hawks couldn’t kick any goals, so umpires gave them the first 3 to kick start them. Absolutely pathetic milking free kicks. Then they gave them two more. Umpires have seriously got to stop paying free kicks to actors who deliberately throw their heads to ground. Either that or AFL will need ban tackles to the ground.
The media is the culprit and the winner here. Ginnivan never posted a word online about Port Adelaide. More likely he was having a crack at Collingwood who pushed out he and Grundy who were both playing in the finals while Collingwood weren't. It was the media who concocted a pile on to Ginnivan that he was talking smack about Port Adelaide and showing them disrespect. He did no such thing, but the kid was framed by the media, just as they always do to Ken Hinkley and now they are throwing knives at each other, where they accuse the ex Hawthorn players in the media of bias, when each and every one of them shows club bias, even the non playing media like Caroline Wilson and her untouchable Tigers... The AFL should issue a directive against the media over this but they won't because they need the media to keep the AFL top of mind, both of them feeding off each other.

it was Hinkley calling Ginnivan a '#@$% Head' is what the issue was. And as a Hawk Fan, Ginnivans tweet certainly wouldeve motivated Port. In a 4 point game, you final you need everything going for you.

The most ridiculous comment came from Dermott when he said it was dreadful and Hinkley was unable to control his emotions. This coming from the same guy who once stomped on another player's head. Hawthorn super star Ginny made "a five word comment" to his old premiership team mate Grundy and the media and Port "used it" to their own advantage. That's the problem right there. There was a lot of gaslighting going on. They deliberately made a mountain out of a mole hill. It was playground stuff. Post match, Hinckley literally, openly threw swear words at Ginny in front of his team mates after he's team won by a couple of lucky points. (Did the siren go a little early?). This was prior to threepeat super star Luke Bruest being honoured ..It was incredibly "childish" on the part of Hinckley and a lot of the "hysteria" emanated from Ken and the football media in the first place. I think Hinckley started to believe his own gaslighting in the end. The football media obviously wanted to make non football headlines and go on a personal attack on Ginny and they haven't been able to shut up about it since Ginny made the five word comment to his mate. It's also a FREEDOM OF SPEECH issue too. "See you in 14 days" that can be deemed as being highly confident. And? ..he might have been talking about meeting up for a coffee? Who knows? I somewhat agree with Caro. Obviously it isn't entirely Jacks fault they lost. However - I feel what he did gave port extra motivation on the back of their insipid performance against Geelong. They could have lost that game by 15 or more goals had Geelong kicked straight.
I am also no a fan of Ken having a good at Ginni. Probably not the best look for your senior coach to do that but giving him a $20K fine seems a bit ridiculous

The root cause was the original woeful performance of Port Adel against Geelong. Represented by a woeful coaching plan and woeful effort by the whole playing group. So when K aeroplane dance H talks disrespect what did he expect after that hideous showing???? Knock knock who's there. So after the afl world saw that performance did he really expect anything less than see you in 14. The real Q for Ken was why the up and down extremes all year.??? Do coaches know what their doing anymore or just go along for a ride when their players decide to put some effort in???
