Cute lol more like uncute
That’s what he said! He wasn’t trying to do that but do it before they all died, he laughed 🤣. And mainly for the fans. Ppl that don’t like it don’t have to, but I loved ❤️ it!! It was a forever film in my words 30 years +. Not to be better or to top the 1st, which since the 1st Coming to America was such an (original & iconic) film, it would make it a damn near impossible task to accomplish.
I enjoyed seeing this movie because it reminds me of my childhood when watching the original
Deborah Ndombo that’s a beautiful thing!
Well he made a crappy movie for the fans! That's why he's been getting Razzie awards for horrible movies and he retired for awhile. Now Dolomite was awesome. I only could watch 20 minutes of CTA 2.
Like I said in another channel the fact that these folks got together after 33 years is an accomplishment in itself.

i hate when an interviewer shape a question to align with their personal opinion
Yessss! Like bih do want my perspective or to hear yourself echoed 🤔🤔 There are people that have everyday conversations the same way..i hate it

Instead of just asking the damn question and allowing the responder to answer it ..... the interviewer basically asked and answered with their perspective forcing the responder to agree with them.... that was a long ass question 😒
Right his question was abt 2 minutes long
Right! Just listen how he starts off. Dude can't even finesse his questions in an articulate fashion. Sound like hes reporting from the lowest deck a fallout bunker! I hope more people see THIS comment 🙌🏽 He didn't have to do a thing AND the amount of work it takes to put thus movie together is no easy task... people love to judge but don't even realize how hard Eddie has always worked to make sure we had our own entertainment with heavy comedy and a cool msg (i.e. don't let anyone determine your future but you... and in this one, he wanted to show that sometimes when you get older, you forget the fight you had to fight just to live your life the way you wanted to live it so don't create the same barriers for the next generation and of course understanding women are capable leaders too). The issue with the sequel was too many comedian's. Eddie Murphy ending becoming the sideman. And it just wasn't needed. It was more like a remake

Yes, Louis Anderson is in it.
WAS THAT A QUESTION? Because CLEARLY the so-called "interviewer" was trying to SWAY (no pun intended) Eriq La Salle into his opinion with this loooonnng introduction. Just ask the question and allow your subject to reply!! Stop trying to frame the question on how YOU WANT the question answered.🙄 This is SOOO annoying, yet common in the ever-poisonous media, today.

I'ma be honest, it was good to see the old school back on television. I was glad they did a sequel of Coming To America. I liked it. I'm just one of those people who wish Black folks don't have to go through so much just to be cast. I don't know what people want, but then people don't know what they really want either. Word perfect, my sentiments exactly. It seems like there was a campaign to trash it, to the point where it’s become uncool to say you like it therefore People are looking for faults as opposed to allowing themselves to be entertained. The movie is colourful, has great costumes, and all round good performances the mother’s character is particularly hilarious. You can’t please everyone and you fail trying. For as many heads as this movie go over there are a great many that will welcome it in. Who knows , it may become a classic 😉

I was so excited to see Coming 2 America, I actually said "I have a date with Lisa!" I enjoyed it a lot, especially seeing the old barbers again and Mr. Randy Watson! Give it up for Mr. Randy Watson!
Coming 2 America wasn’t a true sequel. It was more so a reunion special in the form of a film. It was for die-hard fans of Coming 2 America, which I am. TBH, there were moments where I could see why someone would dislike the movie. At the same time, I grew up watching Coming to America and I was happy to see those characters interact with one another again and to have new laughs. It wasn’t meant to be compared to the original, if you do that then you’re missing the point of it all. It was far from the perfect film but that wasn’t their goal. You either enjoyed it or you didn’t, not enjoying it is fine; everything ain’t for everybody. You don’t gotta tear it down like Eriq said.
But bro so you you saying that if I thought the the movie was trash 🗑 I can’t say it which I thought that it was genuinely did no hating nothing I just didn’t think it that it lived up to the 1st one people in this society are soooo sensitive if you in entertainment you should be prepared to get criticized that is just how the game goes bro

@@noirsaba it wasn’t constrained by political correctness. Nothing in the original was politically incorrect in the first place. Not only that, Piers Morgan and Leslie Johnson played over the top hood characters that can be seen as offensive stereotypes and no one is complaining about that. We knew it wouldn't be as good as the original, but film is subjective. It's tough to make a good film, but it's harder to make a sequel to a cult classic.
@Lee Brown I heard Siskel & Ebert gave the original mixed reviews. The original film aired on cable for decades. people grew up with Coming to America, which is why the reception in 1988 doesn't mean very much today. The reason why it is getting negative attention is because of how social media gives everyone a platform to express there opinion, which brings in more attention especially from, bloggers, UA-cam reviewers, and online critics.

Amen! Creating stories and acting them out is tough work, and people who haven't had to do it themselves will often fail to recognize a quality effort when they see it. "Coming 2 America" is a very good movie, not quite as good as the first one, but one of the best black movie in a long stretch.
Also, Wesley Snipes needs to finally play Black Panther, the role he really wanted when budget issues forced him to settle for doing "Blade," which was based on another Marvel Comics character. Yes, Wesley is a bit old for the role now, but Marvel should at least let him have it for a few Avengers movies before finding a long-term replacement for Chadwick Boseman. Wesley could be a transitional Panther, like George Lanzenby and Timothy Dalton were transitional actors in the James Bond franchise.
I totally agree!
This stupid argument by your logic you can't criticize anything then. You can't criticize a song because your not a musician, you can't criticize a polictian because that's your field, you can't criticize corporation because you don't the inner workings, you can't criticize a late order you don't work at the company. I can keep going. Your point is asinine and funny I bet you criticized plenty movies you didn't like.
Right! People can't even give you a constructive opinion on why they didn't like the movie, just "it was trash". It's not going to be the same, it's not the 80's and people aren't the same age they were when they first watched the original.
Why in the hell are people getting bent out of shape, when none of them starred or spent a damn thing to make the movie.
Eddie Murphy did not make this movie for the money or for it to be better than the first...it was pure entertainment. funny, sometimes corny, it was absolute fun to see the original cast and the newbies stretch their comedic chops; And props to Eric LaSalle, CHICAGO PD is #1 on my list!!
Eric said that perfectly, everyone can't handle the responsibility to speak on all platforms!
Thank you Eric...I missed you in the 2nd. I know you were too busy. Maybe you'll make the 3rd.❤️
LaSalle has carved out an excellent lucrative directing career. His life has evolved since CTA.A minor role that served him well.Congratulations Mr.LaSalle.
Great video. Made me rethink how I viewed the sequel... Thank you for posting.
Great interview! You asked Great questions AND allowed him to answer them. Best quote of the day --
Not Everybody Should Have A Megaphone!
The same should go for social media.
If we look it at as a “Reunion Show”and not trying to out due the original then the movie is actually good if you think of it as a “reunion show.”
Right at first I didn’t think I liked it but I had to realize that was only because I was comparing it so much to the original one. once I stopped Comparing it and watched it again I liked it
I liked the movie 🎥
Exactly, people were, apparently, expecting funny Black Panther.
I enjoyed it!
Now you’re trying to find a way to make this movie likeable by categorizing it in a different way. Most didn’t come for a reunion show. They came for a movie that is a sequel to one they loved. If it wasn’t for that people wouldn’t watch it.
"Everybody ain't ready for a microphone!" Damn!...so true! That quote goes to the front of my "mind library"!!!
They all looked so good! Loved seeing the crew
Glad you posted this video because after watching the movie I was wondering where he was and Lisa’s sister.
The problem isn’t being critical or expressing an opinion. It’s playa hating for the sake of playa hating. Like Eric said everyone shouldn’t have a mic or a smartphone.
Why can't everyone have a mic?? We all have opinions always have, it's just now more people have a opportunity to share our opinions thru social media. It's on us (the consumer) on how much weight/stock we put in to the next man's opinion.
So....what you're really saying is Censorship? Who gets to dictate who has an opinion or not? See....this is exactly why I can't STAND this woke culture crap. Nobody should be muted because their opinion isn't to someone else's liking. IN America, there is something called Free Speech, ya know...😑
@M M well said
And who exactly gets to decide who gets a voice? You!?
All you entitled crybabies will never understand what he’s saying
"Don't black guilt me into liking something that wasn't good" kinda said it all for me
Agree
We waiting for your movie or any creative projects to review. Do you have any?
@@RochusMr You sound silly
@@RochusMr Movie making isn't my chosen profession & films have been open to public scrutiny since the dawn of cinema. What makes Coming 2 America any different?
FireMadeFlesh II Agreed!
You said it brother, so well put. If God shut social media down like he did the world, then only person they can put down will be their self. Is better not to judge.
The movie was a "feel good" movie. Was glad it was on Amazon. Cuz if I paid for that. I would be PISSED!!!!!
So you have Amazon prime!! Which means you paid for it, or anything else you watch!!!
If you have Amazon, then you DID pay for it!
I thought it was pretty funny. I have seen the first one a hundred times. “It’s a damn shame what they did to that dog”.
Lol!
Hilarious
😂😂😂😂
Damn!!! The dog outline still kills me, where John Wick when you need him. 🤣🤣🤣
The movie was trash. Can we just agree and move on?
LaSalle was definitely on point with this. Everyone is simply not ready for the microphone.....we as a people as a whole need to practice having an opinion without tearing each other down.
Absolutely 💯
I enjoyed the film. Right now we need some laughter especially during this time. I did not expect Coming 2 America, to out do the first one. I just know laughter is good for the soul and this is what we needed during these troubling times. We need to stop it and enjoy the film and life. Laugh with your family and Have Fun!!!! 😀
Well stated Eriq Lasalle! I think that you are brilliant. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the movies that you have acted in. ❤
There’s very few Classic Movies where the sequel is better then the original, however I enjoyed the movie, and appreciate the efforts especially in a time like this, I doubt many people went out and got Amazon Prime just for this movie, so it was available to stream FREE for prime customers, it doesn’t diminish the original at all in my opinion!!
It is disappointing that Eriq isn't in the sequel. The "jerry curl" issue was hilarious in the original movie, back in the day.
No, because they were married now. Your X is usually out of the picture, thats why he's your X

What is going on with newscasters & broadcasters that they feel the need to "multilayer" the question so much that they end up talking more than the person they are interviewing?
He said it best, like it or not, don’t degrade the efforts.
Eddie Murphy is like pizza, even bad pizza is still good pizza. Btw I didn’t mind the sequel, I thought it was funny & loved how most of the cast mates came back..
How the hell is bad pizza good pizza? That don't even make no sense. Bad pizza is terrible lmao Anyway, the movie was okay. Wesley Snipes was good as were many of the young actors. That is all.
@@BrotherApexx exactly 😆. What in the terrible analogies was that?!

Old school
So if you paid for someone to do plumbing work for you and you didn't like their service you won't voice your opinion about their work??? If I paid for a movie and I don't like it I have my right to say it
@@bethevoice3 well it’s different because if someone does plumbing that you don’t like the reason you voice your opinion is because you can get your money back. But there’s no need to when it comes to a movie because no matter how much you didn’t like it you can’t get your money back so what’s the point in trash talking it
I think the point is that filmmakers will think twice in the future before releasing something that they know audiences aren’t gonna like. And they’ll put more thought into future releases.
People got tired of Michael Bay’s Transformer movies, which people listened to, and the movie BumbleBee was way better because of it.
@@sliderALT I hear you, but the truth is, filmaker’s never make movies they know the public won’t like, on completion of the movie and after test viewing they may be advised to shelf it and count their losses due to negative reviews , but if released, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, some will swallow it and ask for more while others will spit out, which is to be expected. I personally enjoyed the movie, it’s light entertainment and i allowed myself to be entertained. That said, all opinions are to be respected.
@@rayanagram that movie was trash
Good job reporting 👏🏽👍🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
I love this channel. Always has clear concise stories and great delivery without extra stuff.
Wonder why everything has to be over evaluated by people . If someone doesn’t like something they just don’t like it and vise versa. I personally absolutely loved C2A. I think they did an excellent job picking up where they left off and adding a new world twist to it. It kept the wonderful fun spirit. One of my fav parts was when Wesley snipes daughter was introduced into the movie. The soundtrack of that movie was ❤️. Wesley snipes’ character was a blast to watch. All in all the movie was wonderful to watch.
I liked his character, "Diego" on the movie REBOUND: THE STORY OF EARL "THE GOAT" MANIGAUT
Super underrated and slept on movie
That's where the tittle came up.
he actually directed that film, also.
Wasn't Eric LaSalle in that movie also?
Classic film
The interviewer just told him how to answer. Just ask the question. And let him answer.
I was literally thinking this...
@Alpha Omega worded that perfectly. Nowadays ppl are negative or haters cuz they dnt like something. I think NOT!
You can lead a horse to the pond but if he doesn’t want to drink you can’t force him. I think Eric can speak for himself
@@bevonbryan2476 a good interviewer or reporter doesn't preface their question with what is an acceptable answer. Leave your opinion out of it so the person can be honest. If I ask you: " What do you think about eggs, because doctors have produced studies that determine eggs cause cancer, the government says that eggs should be banned and I had some eggs last week and I passed out. As a person of color who is familiar with blacks always receiving the most unhealthiest of foods because of systematic racism in society what do you think about eggs? because we all at the morning show hate them!" THAT IS LEADING someone to answer a certain way. The person being asked the question may love eggs...but good luck trying to get a honest answer.
@Alpha Omega Lol....

Smh mis me with this bs , people react to every movie Dont matter who makes it people will give their opinions no matter the skin color of the people in it, no race is above criticism thats apart of the film industry we just gatta be better and they failed with this movie and that's ok I just hope they learn from this and go on to make better films
