There have been many black actors and comedians that mention Eddie Murphy giving them a foot in the door. He got Damon Wayans a bit part in Beverly Hills Cop, Chris Rock mentioned that he got his first real role in Beverly Hills Cop II after Eddie saw him in a comedy club and also said that Eddie was the reason why the manager put him on stage in that club, Dave Chapelle said that he got his first big role in The Nutty Professor and Keanon Ivory Wayans said that Eddie opened doors for him in Hollywood. He may be low key about it but Eddie looked out for his own.

Far from it LMFAO... FUCKING FAR FROM IT... Not even CLOSE. Malcom was OVERT, even MLK was FUCKING OVERT lmfao... His LAST clip seemed to be more on scale and par and he unironically DESCRIBED himself in that last part, about his earlier career.. Notice he was scared in his corner getting his not wanting to upset HENCE the talk of them WHISPERING "in his own home"........ Mind you it WASNT it was STILL on Paramount's SHIT! He over TIME helped a handful but not at all to the scale he could have, I mean after DECADESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs of course you've "helped a lot" but point was not to a potential scale he could have.. this is EDDIE MURPHY.. he was the BLACK Star Up... *now no one is saying do the most extreme shit and HEY maybe he would have tried and tanked Thus not being able to help ANY of the many black stars he did go on to help. He seemed more logical and understanding In the last clip where he spoke on the matter. *cue you aint reading all this, that go to cop out meme to dodge. lmfao

Facts he put alot of up and coming black actors/actresses on the scene but Spike isn't talking just about roles in a movie. He focused more on positions of power i.e. directing/writing. I feel where both of these men are coming from. Spike wants us to use our power when we get it to uplift our black culture and give some opportunities. Eddie is saying I’m doing that but in the background because if I do what you’re doing then a shutdown is easier to happen because they see it coming. Black Wall Street is a prime example of that. If they see us in the rear view, they’re going to block the passing lanes. To be honest, they both need each other in the fight with their respective view points. Spike runs defense/distraction while Eddie runs offense/scoring for this thing to work.

We need radical people like Spike Lee putting pressure in the frontlines, while your diplomatic people like Eddie Murphy can be behind the scenes. Camera and studio equipment are more accessible. The major corporate studios no longer monopolize the industry. Instead of wondering why two men (who are still alive and well) never worked together in the past. We should be focused on doing thing in the present and future. IMO spike lee more bite then bark while Murphy just did his thing without make a big deal about it for the most part and was smart about what to say to no burn bridges or close doors . While spike Lee’s just didn’t care about what he said or did till it bite him in the ass or causes problems . IMO of spike just did his own thing without causes a storm or pointing the finger he better in a much better place then he is today . as time has shown any actor or director of any color that has started problem or picked fight always got ignored or the people or studios that wanted to work with them dryed up like Mel Gibson or rosanne .

Eddie Murphy is right he's an entertainer people hate politics leaking into entertainment now. Everyone of all racial backrounds will watch Black actors Like Eddie Murphy, Will Smith , denzel washington, Samuel Jackson because they're there to entertain which is why people see movies.
Eddie Murphy has been successful in dealing in race better than any black actor i know because he shows different sides to the community. Like coming to america and boomerang both have black casts but one is upper middle class corprate america while the other working class small business owners. In beverly hills cop he played a cop, in the nutty professor/dr doolittle he played intellegent and educated men, even in Norbit/Bowfinger he plays against the violent black man image. so being covert actually helps extend your life in hollywood and shine a light on different aspects of the community at the same time without losing it's entertainment factor.

Buy our children's clothes a little bigger so as not spend for about 2yrs and just not spend unnecessarily for 2yrs, the economy will suffer greatly. That's a sur fire way to see how much we contribute to the GROSS NATIONAL PRODUCT.. White people would respect our money, especially if we banked what we didn't spend. It wouldn't take 2yrs for them to notice. 30 days will do. I wish I had a magic potion just to do that with us, because we would never do it collectively, not even out of curiosity. They can do it...Tyler Perry built his empire making movies for black women. His target audience made him rich. Stallone did it with the Expendables franchise. He contacted all his co-stars DIRECTLY. It won't work if all of them demand to be paid 20 million for the movie though. Chris Tucker will have to take a pay cut lol. Probably all would have to take a percentage off the back end profits, have no ego, (if coordination's an issue...they gotta treat it like a funeral (who misses those?) film in Canada (Where it's cheaper) and do a comedy. (Comedies are cost a lot less budget-wise, easier to make and easy to make a large profit off of. Just look at all Marlon Wayans movies, Ice Cube films etc.) This isn't to say they can't make a high-budget, high-grossing film...but if people are afraid of losing their ish...then minimized risks are the way to go. Actually...they should all pool their money/talent to do a Boondock's movie. They'd all be voice acting so no need to worry about the social distancing. DONE and DONE. Or just make another Blade movie/Coming to America (think they are making a sequel) with all black cast lol. Can't say I enjoyed Dolemite...and finally...Oprah, Jay-Z and the Obamas can help produce it under aliases...even JK Rowling used a male pen name during her career because she didn't want her target audience to dismiss her for writing books for young boys. It's possible, just a matter of who wants to see the end result more than anything else. Like Michael Jordan winning championships with the Chicago Bulls. 150% devoted to the end result above all else.

It is a wonderful book, and he would tell them not to give him for the movies he created and helped create at their kitchen table’s like “I’m gon Git you sucka,” and “Hollywood Shuffle.”

That fear of being heard by the white folks has survived in all descendants of enslaved Africans in the Americas, in my opinion. The same goes for the way we fail to overtly unite when we could be doing great things for our communities. Those who dare get a target on their backs for their efforts. They get dragged through the mud in popular media (and now on social media too) so that their credibility crumbles fast. It's not just a U.S. thing, sadly.

Why do people think celebrities are supposed to be their voice? That's stupid.

Chappelle asked that question. But I think it's primarily because masses learn through movies and art.

Crickets 😂😂😂love Eddie. The story he tells, beginning at 6:52 is one of the most realist, political commentaries about what it means to be Black in America far beyond any movie I've ever seen. RIP Charley and Tisha Murphy.🙏🏽

Honest to god truth I never knew Eddie Murphy was that intelectual. He said some deep ass shit on slavery and got me thinking hard about it lol

No so fast. I'm a U.S. citizen, my wife is from Cameroon, Africa. We both lived there together over 10 years. Africans are not together there either. Slavery has nothing to do what Eddie was saying.

Watch the internets boy & think of iran contra, gulf of Tonkin, mk ultra, bay of pigs. We're all devided. The system is even failing white collar people so it's time to unie before job vs people ratio fully disapears. They have greenhouses fully automated from seed to shipping using robotics, hydrophobics, & 3d laser scanning in a European country that takes care of pollution of rivers from pesticides & chemicals to grow, air pollution from tractors, & waste of water table & much more.
