More Capability, More Safety Tech, with an Unparalleled Combination of Power and Efficiency
More off-road capability: New X-Line trim features 1.0-in. higher ground clearance, improved approach/departure angles, more advanced AWD with snow-mode and a more robust roof rack than outgoing Sorento
More performance capabilities: New 2.5-Turbo option with 281 horsepower and 311-lb-ft of torque mated to a segment-exclusive 8-speed wet-clutch DCT for more responsive around-town or mountain-pass driving
He doesn't know how to drive very well. Keeps hitting brakes and wonder why he gets stuck
I think that traction is more dependent on the tires (winter) than 4 wheel drive system.
Umm, you must use "Snow mode" AND turn on the "Lock" mode (center button). I would be awesome if reviewers actually READ the user manuals instead of assuming how the AWD systems work. Of coarse, using snow tires instead of all season tires would also make a big difference. Knowing HOW to drive in the snow instead of just playing around would also help.
Yeah for demonstration purposes you should really show all settings not just one. Ex. Show your vehicle with the smart AWD only and if you have the snow feature or not (my 2019 does not have a snow feature) and how well it does until you get stuck then apply the AWD lock and see if you can either free yourself from a stuck position or at least make it through with some momentum. I'm honestly curious how well my Sorento will do in the snow it has done pretty good so far but we have only gotten snow twice here in Iowa and this last snow fall I didn't have the vehicle to take it to and from work since it was with my wife while she was visiting her mom and she didn't want to drive in the snow with our son.
I agree. All these wannabe reviewers popping up and I cringe watching them do a poor job.
Just got my brand new X-line Prestige. Can’t wait to get it in some snow
That's what I'm currently looking to buy. What are your thoughts so far since you've had time with it?
@@robglobal1 Love it. Drove MANY mid size and full size SUVs, including V6s. The 2.5 turbo in the Sorento has way more kick and just plain "fun factor" than the V6s. The tech package and interior set up dwarf the competition. And the blind spot cameras are pure gold
@@blagoyavichrod good to know! I'm debating between the prestige, jeep willys, rav 4 and lexus nx. All are VERY different vehicle so it's making it hard to decide but leaning towards the prestige caus of the gas mileage being decent but also having the power which none of the others have unless I can find a rav 4 prime which would be my top choice but impossible to find. They're marking the prestige up about 3-5k here in CT so that's making it hard to pull the trigger
@@robglobal1 What did you end up buying? I'm trying to decide between a Jeep Wrangler or a Kia Sorento.

When stuck like this, first turn traction control off. Rock your steering side to side, as you throttle. If that does not work, try sand mode and do the same. You need to not jam the wheels, and let them turn freely. Otherwise no way you are getting out of a snow rut.
I've got a sorento identical to this one. It has where you can lock in all 4 wheels at slow speeds. I wish he demonstrateed that feature, but apparently wasn't aware of it.
My Kia goes through 6 to 8 inches of snow no problem but I've also got all season tires.its actually a beast
is it front wheel drive version?
@@cathyk8633 no a.w.d.
Nice! I just got my 2022 sorento x line and was wondering how it would do in my area. New England weather!
@@erasedfromgenepool.4845 So a glorified FWD. The issue with AWD is that it puts pressure diagonally on the least pressure/friction tires, meaning it'll hang up real easy.
>Great for flat surfaces, not so great for mud and snow. Don't worry, most brands does this unless specified 4-wheel drive.
A 1990's Subaru Legacy 4WD would demolish this. I guarantee it.
Slams on brakes. Oh no we’re stuck. How about pressing the gas?!
I'm tired of seeing these videos of people posting cars in like an inch of snow. Like it makes a huge difference
Sam you did very well and the car seemed to be very capable . Nice real world review
The tow hook location is hidden by a pop out square plastic piece on the front and rear bumper. the hook is a metal closed circle hook with a screw end that you screw into the hook location inside the front or rear bumper and that s where you tow from
Is the hook in there or do you have to purchase it.
Great video. Were you in snow mode the whole time? Did you try the other modes or turn the traction control off? With proper winter tires I'm sure it would do even better.
Those were real snow tires. Look at 1:13
9:06 why is the vehicle swerving from side to side? Is that torque steer?
When you didn't realise your friend is recording🤣🤷♂️ lol ops lol
Lol
I get the feeling this guy would stick a Polaris snow machine.
You stuck but you still driving lol ok. This car does GREAT in the snow
It’s just decided to come out lol
@@SamCarLegion your outside shot shows you applying the brakes when you got "stuck" but when you went back through a potentially deeper area you went through just fine. It seems like a lack of skill in the snow may be the issue or you did it for the video.
This is not the snow you should test cars on I think. Cause usually drivers have problems with traction either in deep snow or packed snow which is more like ice. Or in deep wet snow.
It’s not just about depth of the snow, it’s also about quality parts, like; can the car take 3 hours of snow drive? How well does the transmission handle? Does it overheat? Things like that. I also did drive it in deep icy areas, or uphills with snow.
@@SamCarLegion 3 hours, really? In Norway or Finland "snow drive" is way longer, for about 6-7 months. Snow doesn't affect on quality parts... Transmission overheat? In winter, R U serious?
@@smert_rashistskiy_pederacii I agree this was a pretty weak ass test...
@@smert_rashistskiy_pederacii😲 I thought people ride sledges only in Finland.
@@calvinsc5105 i used to live in Fi. There are lots of snow, but they clean it very effective. So ppl use chains etc everywhere snow isn't cleaned, like in Ukraine.
Not sure about this one, I put mine on 4 wheel lock and have no issues. Also I have A/T tires on it.
Very good 🤙🏻
I think in all fairness you took the SUV off road with all season radials and not all terrain tires which really isn’t fair. I think the stock tires are great for the roadways covered in snow but not actually going off road with deep snow.
I didn’t know that the X-Line can come with the lower trim headlights and cloth interior. 🤔 but why though?
In Canada you can get xline on lower trims.
@@jcabrera8425 that’s pretty cool actually. It makes sense, like the Kia K5 GT in Canada gets an all digitally cluster or dash.
How is it for cold winter starts in the morning? I'm relocating to Winnipeg
Fantastic
Between this and the new Santa fe, which one will you buy Sam if you the option to chose
Video coming tomorrow
I just bought the 2020 Santa Fe 2.0T AWD and it’s amazing. Sure, doesn’t have the 2.5 l turbo but honestly I’m not missing it. I came from a 2013 2.0T Santa Fe sport but won’t be disappointed. I would suggest driving both. I have watched tons of video reviews and some have said the sorento is noisy compared to the Santa Fe. I love the way the sorento looks tho!
That car is nice
I am torn between this and a Camry xse awd. If I'm being selfish, I'd get the Camry. But I always have passengers and live off-grid (1 mile of dirt road)
*also really like the crash test rating on this.
That’s interesting
What you end up going with?
@@f8widescat392 Lexus RX350
wonder how it will do on the rolling flatform diagonal test...
Just as well
If you mean diagonal wheels on the air, then I have seen a video with a Sorento travelling over undulating off road tracks.
The wheels in the air spin for a second or so and then the traction control kicks in and switches full drive to the wheels touching the ground. The driver did this several times on the dirt track. The wheels were about 6 or 8 inches off the ground.
I have a diesel awd Sorento GT Line here in Australia for about 5 months now.
Absolutely Love It....
Does anyone feel the ride is a bit rough/bumpy on not so well maintained roads?
Yes but I just got mine, is ours still a bit stiff?
This video is cringe, specifically the driving. Getting stuck in 4 inches of snow? C'mon....
Isn't dangerous to hang out around powerlines?
I have lived in Montana in my whole life and have driven most every kind of car whether it’s a sedan station wagon, suburban van, truck, etc. I love my 2021 Kia Sorrento but if you live in Montana, this is not the car super disappointed don’t know what the F is wrong
It sucks in the snow and has trouble on small hill on a little patch of ice
New tires, not studded. We’ll have to get studs for the rest of the winter and I plan on exchanging it for a car that’s better in the snow super disappointed I do like the car in general.
Have you never driven in snow ?? You have to move forward!!
You have winter tire at least ?
Yes
Those tires are not for snow off-road.
капец, у нас бы вы до подъезда не доехали с таким навыками)))) про гараж с деревней молчу)
Pointless to offer 20 inch rims on awd. Damn pointless. Should at least offer the option of the 18 or 19 with better tires
Mmmkay. So your video ”proved” that that car is good for tracing the tracks someone’s plowed for you. I’m pretty sure that it could do quite a bit better than that, and not even break a sweat…
A 2WD Tacoma would have done a gooder job
it's not a good offroad vehicle, the dual-clutch and traction system fuck everything up, within 30-mins a warning popped up on the screen saying the transmission was hot and to stop! I'm glad I took one for a test drive before buying it, the previous 3.5V6 model was light years ahead in terms of off-roading,
Jayzus! How long was your test drive?
This guy looks like Ronnie O sullivan
If this is deep snow and he has trouble then he should not be driving.
OMG my FWD can do this with ease.
Like 1% will go into deep snow
So buy a Tacoma if you need a reliable vehicle in the snow, got it!
Compact car offroad route 😂
The Sorento is really not bad to drive in snow
Get real snow tires and try again !! Deeper ! Deeper!
This is worse, deep areas and icy.
I would like to see a comparison in deep off road snow with the 2022 Outlander. It has 1 inch more ground clearance 8.3. Vs Kia and AWC vs Kia AWD.
amatior
WOW!!! Did awesome in the 2" of snow! LOL!!! How about a real test!
20” wheels 🤣
I gotta call bullshit....
