To all the idiots saying this is illegal, of course it is. The fcc has broadcasting licenses for a reason. You could use this video to legally start up a station with the right equipment and proper authorization. this is more of a proof of concept, anyone with a brain and critical thinking can see that!
Wow, I can finally get people to watch my livestreams now!
Only your neighbourhood
im gonna comment on this old comment too followed by a comment reply 5 months ago then a reply 2 years ago when the comment came out
Nolan Calder lol 2018
Jude Pelaez I will just change the channel to “666”
@@NolanGamingIsAwesome same
This is actually legal in the US as long as your broadcast's range does not go past 300 ft., otherwise it's best to apply for a broadcaster's license.
Thanks man! Ch. 15 is now on the air!
Is it still on air?
he stopped useing it
Ulol!!! Nag on the air pala yung CHANNEL 15!!!
@@justinedwardvaliente9512 wag mo murahin bobo ka hindi mo naman alam matagal na wala yan at tsaka hindi mo masasagap yan
Do you have make your own videos for this
You could also get your Technician class ham radio license, and you can transmit amateur television through the amateur television frequencies on the hand bands that are allocated for amateur television!
I wish people would buy out the old Tv Towers and start broadcasting again. The last channel out here in Canada was CBS. I was sad to see it go :( Id love to buy a broadcasting tower if I could find one.
SpriteBanana I wish I could do that.. I have an idea for a diy tv broadcaster, but it's hard to explain how to make it in a video.
Give us some time and we'll broadcast our content lmao
This guy is not wasting our time at all. Nice Video as always.
Interesting, I never thought about buying a short range transmitter to make my own little analogue TV channel. I know I can't get anything more than short range because I've looked into the FCC laws and enforcement, and I don't want to get a criminal record just because I wanted to tinker with broadcasting to my analogue CRT collection, but still something fun.
I use a DVD player connected with a scart cable (RGB) to an old satellite receiver with an internal coax mudulator (PLL, so very stable and right on frequency), and two antenna amplifiers in series to increase the output signal of the modulator. The whole thing is tuned to channel 40 UHF with a matching antenna for that frequency. Excellent picture quality, way sharper than SD terrestrial digital tv. Only the sound is in mono, but I can live with that.
If you want to do this legally get an amateur radio license. That would allow you to use any antenna you like an a max transmit power of 1500 watts PEP. I have been thinking of getting an amateur television transmitter to play with. It might be fun to hook one of those up to a helmet cam. Unfortunately in my area on the 70 cm band there is only one ATV channel available. Of course I always have the option to use other bands. Some experiments with ATV on the 13 cm band are in order.
I like the transmitters that can broadcast more than one channel, such as the ones that used to transmit cable TV to homes within a radius of whom didn't have cable boxes... Or possibly someone who setup a rig for easy cable access through their home, but it was a very generous thing to do.
@gdrewpowers it's not illegal if you broadcast to a "whitespace" channel, which is unused television bandwidth. The FCC has a search engine so that you can search for channels that aren't being used. Then you can broadcast to those.
I can't believe that I searched how to make your own TV channel in 2021 to finally at 24 find out how TV channels and stations work 😅
That would be fun. I could make a hannel that has nothing but Dexter's Laboratory episodes.
cn and turner would shut that down sadly
Dennis Bowen well, if they pick up the broadcast that is, if you only had a broadcaster that did it within the space of your own home, im sure they wouldnt be snooping up and around your house.
But why even bother lol
I wouldn't be broadcasting it for other people, the Video Quality and authenticity of a boradcast signal give it a different feel.
REBUILD CARTOON NETWORK!!! 🤣
This is what I've been saying we should be legally allowed to do since those old analog signals are just floating around uselessly now XD
Anolog signals are picked up by digital TV's as well so be careful
its free real estate
Congrats this video is 10 years old
Maybe you could do an updated version of this video?! Maybe? No? Yes?
what is there to update? the technology for analog tv hasn’t changed lol
@miniclip876 I think most of the digital channels are taken up by TV stations so your signal would get pwned by those coming from stations, but I think you might be able to get a digital transmitter and find a empty channel to broadcast.
Is a TV tuner required for the computer? Using the same exact model of transmitter in your video I was able to successfully use my DVD player to broadcast, but my computer will not work. Thanks
I got a portable TV from Goodwill for like 6 bucks and I wanted to do a test where I could broadcast my computer screen to the TV from across the house. What kind of stuff would I need for that?
I'm quite literally trying to do the same thing rn, did you figure out how to do it?
@@gaberendel4899 No real luck sadly, did find out some useful tech for it, but since this videos release the prices of them have gotten unrealistically expensive
I love these ideas coz I also wish to set up my own tv station some day. Thnx guys wish to see more of ur work
man thats really good video editing what programs do you use?
I'm actually using that exact same guide to make my own sudo cable TV network using a signal from a PC to get livestreams and another antenna for the local stations.
And are there any ideas how to override currently broadcasting digital signal? I'd like to do that...
Hi, would i be able to broadcast multiple videos to different channels using one transmitter ? Or would I need to have multiple transmitters and laptops?
@krisdamaan - don't know. but it only broadcasts neighborhoods, not the whole country!
Those frequencies are not in fact open for free unlicensed use. In the US, you can get a knock on the door from the FCC if you get caught, and the fines are very hefty. You should warn your viewers about the laws.
Many of the UHF frequencies are now what digital TV are using. Please do not get your viewers into trouble.
Thanks, I was considering this but I had a feeling there may have been a price to pay. :/
Hey dude, what about in canada?
I think it depends on the radius. If it's a box that only broadcasts in your house, I doubt there'd be much issue. Broadcasting to your neighborhood however.... that might get you in trouble.
Kinda like those mini fm radio transmitters people use in their cars when they don't have an aux input. Technically, broadcasting over fm radio is illegal too. But the signal on those things is just so weak that no one would probably know about it, give or take, care.
But it's not illegal to stream television to the internet and have people view your stream from a computer/device to receive the television from the internet is it?
what about vhf
The tube TV you pictured in the beginning I actually own(well an RCA T-100, RCA sold tons of TVs in that case style).
The reason as to why the digital televisions don't include that simple mode option, is because the cable networks are carrying the local channels (that used to be free), and as a consumer you now have to pay for network television.
Remember cable had no advertising?
Those days are now gone, once they tricked people into getting cable, they increased the cost, and locked out over the air broadcasts, if an emergency happened and they dont want you to know, you wont know.
you can charge the neighborhood 15 dollars for your channel and start your own cable company... all the while your paying only $7 a month for netflix (witch is what your broadcasting on your computer). Like a true pirate.
Not all of the analog channels are open due to low powered stations being able to stay with analog because of the cost of DTV transmitters. The reason everybody was forced to switched to DTV was to open room for other communications.
I think this is legal only if you don't broadcast a certain distance and not hindering or disrupting anybody else's signal. So yes the FCC is still in control of all analog channels and like I said they have plans for these channels.
Can we get this updated to 2019? Or does this still work today?
It still works
Nice
This is a great way to broadcast free cable and other fee-based media such as DVDs from a paying customer to a non paying customer. The only problem is that you would have to have a dedicated "server" that would be a computer or television to broadcast from. The great thing about wireless is it is no longer a 1:1 connection but a 1: many.
Yea i can do my own pirate channel cuz the analog tv is not exist anymore
*does it legal to do that without authorization*
ive been doing allot of research on stuff recently and I've decided to startup my own isp (basicly dialup over radio) my own mobile provider (using openlte and openbts) and im thinking of starting a local tv station using pre-recorded gameplay and eSports games
Thats sick man! Care to show it in action? I would love to see that!
(No sarcasm i really do!)
Michael Shore I can show some of the radio stuff and being an ISP but everything else is research as I dont have enough money to buy the equipment :(
+Darren Rainey That would be cool!
Michael Shore ok I'll do a video on it next week so please sub for that and more
I like tinkernut A LOT!! I hope that he replies here saying something that would make my day!!! You are the best, neat, helpful hacker of all time!
Aside by returning ZOE TV Channel 11, is possibly return as DWBM-TV Channel 43 (Q105 TV Radio), DWTE-TV Channel 47 (One Music), & DZBC-TV Channel 68 (Solar Learning) very soon?
all these tutorial are great for learning, man you sure are tech wiz! how long you been working with computer and electronics? by the way thanks for posting this up was trying to do something like this for a go while! 5/5.
this is like a jacked up version of that microphone that broadcasts to radios.
You Are Awesome Man
dude gigafide u so creative how do u come up with ur stuff ?
@hittingrabbit It's true that the cost of cable programming has increased, but so has the quality about 100 times. For example AMC's Breaking Bad.
love your amazing videos
I might have to try this...
@MrCelloman21 pirate TV is no longer illegal because of the digital transition. it's all open airwaves now.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, I had the same exact idea and have been looking for this info everywhere since everything went digital.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
can you make one that broadcast digital so a small portable digital tv can be used around the house and yard?
I have also seen tutorials of how you can take the coax output from a VCR, run it through a signal amplifier, and broadcast that way (on either channel 3 or 4 depending on the switch on the back of your VCR). I'm looking to try this. PEACE!!!!!!!!
cool thanks saw ho is going to see it?
that is very cool to use
is it hard to do that?
and does it go to a TV station wireless?
thanks
@InfoTransmission I'm a cheapskate. I got the $25 one. It's the first result (with free shipping) after searching "wireless uhf audio video transmitter" on ebay.
@gigafide but dont you still have to pay for Using Radio/tv waves in the air? Theres like a government fee to do so, not sure how much it is though.
What brand is yours? i hope they all have a little screw thing on front to adjust the frequency. I want one of these to do some experiments with in a confined space, not broadcasting any signals to TVs.
I'm planning to make a signal on Channel #12 to broadcast whatever I want to broadcast! Thanks for helping me out.
this is way cool will it work in the u.k when the switch over happens in 2012??
@JMcCammon01 it's a WV-300 Video Sender. It's on eBay.
Wow , this is very interesting !
Yes, and No. If the signal can be gotten over 300 feet from where its coming from, its illegal, if its just static 300 feet away from the source, it isnt illegal. However, you probably won't be getting even 100 feet with one of these transmitters, unless you hook it up to a roof antenna.
I can't see how the transmitter would be legal. The FCC is very very very strict about these things and the fines for broadcasting without a license are atronomically high. The risks hardly outweigh the potential costs. You can stream video on ustream and other services for free and legally, provided you have the copyrights to the content.
Nice tutorial, i did a test broadcast of a movie and it worked =D, but the sound didnt work well and i had to put aluminum foil on my transmitter for the best quality D=
I know HOW to do it, what I want to know is how much power can I legally transmit before the FCC gets a bit riled up about it. 5w, 50w, 500w, 5,000w ?. Like where is the cutoff point before they start giving out cease and desists? That's what I want to know
I'd say 1w-50w
Thanks, I could finally broadcast old Nick Jr shows like Backyardigans and Oswald
This would be perfect. All you need right now is a license from National Telecommunications Commission (NTC or Philippines' FCC) to broadcast under UHF Channel 17
I wonder if could still do that now 10 years later in 2020?
Which model of this "video sender" are you using? i am trying to find something similar online. is "2.4GHz Wireless Transmitter Receiver" the same thing?
Aha.. that is the connector I need. So it is an S-Video/Headphone to RCA? What kind of adapter would I need to plug in a RCA into a pair of speakers and a monitor with VGA?
The question should be is it lawful. Just because something may be legal or illegal does not mean its lawful or unlawful. When it comes to legality, we are dealing in a commercial society aspect of things. We, as men/women in the life form have nothing to do with the legality of things. We live under law. We are free to do as we please as long as it does not infringe on the rights of others to do the same.
The future billionaires and CEOs will like this videos.
Congratulations to my future Kings and Queens of Africa World 🌍
So I was thinking of starting several UHF stations around the USA, but do I need a certain license? Please reply, my dream is to make a sitcom network. And yes, I know it is Analog.
Sadly, since the analog to digital transition is still ongoing, the FCC won't accept new TV licenses. If you want an analog TV station, you could move on to digital TV, because everyone uses that.
It is since it is a low power transmission. If you do this with high power )thus reaching a lot more people it may be an issue.
I want to make a portable analog suitcase TV channel broadcasting old movies and ads 24/7 saved on a razbarry pi do you have any idea how I can do this ?
can you make your vcr to tv?
How was the news bar done? Premiere?
do they have uhf repeaters? so that people in range can make it accessible to farther and farther people?
one thing you could do is get an RF modulator can be found anywhere hook the part that goes into the tv with an adapter to a yaesu 2900 r and brodcast that at 75 watts to another frequency that matches a channle
This is pretty awesome.
Yes, it's illegal. And, the transmission is easily traceable. The FCC can triangulate the signal right to your front door. And, if you send out a dirty signal that "cross-talks" and causes interference across channels used by air-traffic or emergency services (and if you're not a trained engineer, that's very easy to do without you knowing it) you can find yourself with not just a hefty fine, but also some very serious prison time.
Can someone please give me a link to purchase a model like the one in the video? I can't find one anywhere that's cheaper than 3000$..
what transmitter are you using? im having trouble finding NTSC transmitters
how do you do the introduction and other nice things
I have personally tried this and want to report that this video can cost you a lot of time and money. It makes no mention that the laptop must have some form of TV out function on it. My laptop did not have any form of TV out, it requires a special tv card or video card. I did get the transmitter working with a DVD player going into it, but the strength of the transmitter's signal was absolutely horrible. I bought the exact same transmitter in the video. It wouldn't reach across the living room.
Toonami, You're Rebirth is Immenent!
I'm gonna broadcast a strong signal with an m69 modulator, a few CATV amplifiers and a dipole antenna. But i could use those small ones to broadcast weak signals.
you are the best, tinkernut! SPOILER ALERT: I have a television company in the works.
saw do you film first and then from the computer
you transfer it?
or do you film with the transmitter
and then it goes to the tv?
thanks
I smell a university pirate station brewing from this video.
This is very different from your other videos and personally i quite liked it very much a lifehacker type video too maybe someone will post it there.
Anyway keep up the good work but btw you never really said what price range your transmitter was? or did you just get it given to you and then you searched for a cool thing to do with it...
Yes it is. But you can do it legally with an amateur radio license. Provided you operate on an amateur radio band your transmission is directed to at least one other amateur, your transmission power doesn't exceed 1500 watts PEP, and you ID at the end of your transmission or every 10 minutes. There are of course other rules, but those are the basics.
I do have a question: Is it possible to do it Windows Vista Home Premium 2007? Just asking for a friend.
tell me how can we increase the range of transmitter and also the names of instruments used for this tv station...............
I'm going to use this to stream content to any TV in my house.
I cant find the UHF transmitter. All I found was the name and links to ones that already have been sold. Can anyone find where to get one of these little transmitter. Video Sender WV-300
Question can I do this with just a old vcr
maybe.
Is this illegal 'cause i want my station to be a PBS member station like Thirteen and WGBH and NJTV.
What's the max range allowed by the FCC ?
If you don't have a license. The max range is 300ft. (i think)
do you need a special software?
how long does it take
for the video to be on TV
Aren't all the former analog frequencies taken up by cell phone companies now?
yup. this is why we can't have nice things
Can u only see this channel with an analog TV? PLZ ANSWER
minecraftslider Yes it is only analog. Analog is more clearer to watch
The channel that you make in the tutorial? No. New TVs have Analog TV support.
You just need an Analog TV antenna.
For some reason, in my experience (during the switch), antennas designed for Digital TV won't receive Analog TV, or vice versa. You're right, it shouldn't matter, but it does?
(I know my TV supported Analog, because I had a switcher to go between my VCR and TV.)
No, it was digital. It *supported* analog.
Wait, so you're saying digital TVs can NOT see analog transmissions because of their digital tuners? Or do they see both digital and analog? I've wanted this question answered for so long and I'm glad to finally be talking to someone who can shed some light on it!
For the record, I have a Vizio HDTV which easily receives channels when I plug an old flat antenna into it. So I don't really think there's a "type" of antenna (analog vs digital) that matters. I think all of them receive both types of broadcasts; it's just up to the TV to translate the broadcast. I know analog TVs can't translate digital broadcasts because of their analog tuners, but can digital TVs translate analog broadcasts? That's the million dollar question :D
0:38 WAIT..wait.. The broadcast distance depends on the Wattage power. Higher frequency gives better picture quality..
Cool!
-Ben
Hi, Gigafide, I just wanna know, is your transmitter the WV-300 Video Sender from Nippon America?
Is this illegal, or did the analog-to-digital conversion wipe this rule?
i like potatoes
Soopy The FCC WILL come to your house and make you stop broadcasting anyway though :S
DrHotelMario as long as it is not above 500 ft, they would not care
Gary Chapman Good to know
