I discovered the cadence presentation years ago. I am a drummer by trade, and one day I was casting over and over, and not getting any bites, so I guess out of boredom I started fishing my crank bait with little rhythms from my rod tip. suddenly I was catching fish! I have been using this technique ever since to great success. I like the fact that you are so passionate about fishing, and it shows in your videos! I'm going to subscribe right now!
Ok. The fact that Ike's kids are yelling in the background, and not edited out, is exactly why I love this guy so much! 😂 keep' it reel. (Yes, it's a pun).
The first lure I was taught to use when I was about 5 years old was the Rapala minnow jerk bait. Been using them 3 decades later. They work well in morning and evening casting floaters up to shore line and twitch it a few times and then reel in slow. Been catching bass and bluegill this way for 30 years.
Great video. Your instructional videos like this are great. You always do a great job of explaining things including retrieving the lure which a lot of guys leave out. Thanks for the tips.
Good patience Ike, with all that ruckus in the background while you were trying to record!! Great tips as well. Very small Rapala's are my go to lures when the bite is tough...they never let me down!
I was slayin them on the Husky jerk but just reeling it real slow. When I was jerkin them they weren't biting. And when you put a swivel on them it completely changes the action and still works fantastic. Great lure.
hey man great video, keep them coming... also thanks for signing all those autographs for the kids at the tournaments. I'm sure they appreciate it more than you think.
what's up with the one guy that just had to dislike this? If not for the information you have to at least enjoy the true enthusiasm he has while giving out his tips.
when i grow up i want to be like you, i bet your kids feel lucky. great info. i like the way your not afraid to share xp. that you learned throughout your career. your awsome bro much love from cali.
Mike . . I love watching this video. Every time i watch it i laugh. When your kids are getting loud and you are talking about cadence, You basically yell CADENCE to get them to be quiet. Makes me laugh!! This is a great video keep up the good work.
I use both those to catch wild brown trout. They work amazing in current compared to many others I've used. Xrap is the king. Willing to take suggestions on other styles if anyone has had success on them.
Hey Mike, do you keep the ultra-light jerkbaits in your "Oh Crap" box? I remember reading years ago about your emergency box for when there just not biting. I remember that you kept inline spinners in that box. There's an idea for a show!
Yo Mike! Philly fisherman here, any advice on what tournaments in the 215 I could look into to get a start? I've been asking around and can't seem to find anyone who fishes tournament. Thanks man, keep reppin Philly!
I am Sir with fluorocarbon line for the first time and the knot less dropshot. There's a small lake with a dozen 10 lbs and up bass in tit that acts like there on steroids training for the Olympics just cruising the lake non stop all day and night and won't hit...it's bn 20 years since this small lake defeated me I'll luk how round 2 goes..thanks for the new age tips ur a awesome person and passionate about fishing just like me ..wish u many tournament victories
Ike, what reel would you recommend for flipping and pitching a 13 fishing concept c or a lews team pro magnesium speed spool, or do you have any other reels you would recommend
Thank you! I've got a few of those X-Rap 8 jerkers, good cadence tip. Also, did you somehow switch ur hands with Andre th Giant before his funeral? just joking... thanks again
strange I fish in a place called chasawiska here in fl and it runs into salt water but theres springs near the boat ramp and I was catching bass and snook on a 8 inch lizard but I noticed mullet following it like bass will sometimes so I let it drop and he ate it...the strange thing tho is that mullet only eat things without a shell and bones and algae off the boat ramp
ike ur so right.... caught a monster 8 pound 30 inch pike on a small rapala jerk bait while trout fishing the other day... 3 trout on the rodd then bam that monster pike blew up my rodd....... idk how i landed him with no net and light line
Yeah............I got two of the Rapala Xraps I can't wait to try...........it's the pause and bumping lures off cover(logs etc.) that REALLY triggers strikes with Bass.
And then there was Jimmy Two Times, who got that nickname because he said everything twice, like: Jimmy Two Times: I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers.

I've been using their newer jerk baits and haven't had much luck with them. I need to try out the originals

wow your garage has more selection than most tackle shops in my town. nicely done!
The Rapala X-Rap is my favorite Jerkbait!
JDav437 • really? it only goes 2-4ft deep? super shallow only.... shadow rap all day for me...
shadow rap shad deep carbon color way
Nick Hall I think the XR 10 advertises 4-6 ft in depth. I can bomb it way out and get it down quite a bit deeper than that. Fish hard fellas.
Love your tips! My home lake is too weedy for anything with treble hooks. But I'll try this on my next outing. Keep up the great work
The flat rap is an excellent bait for this. Flashes and swims super nice
what's up with the one guy that just had to dislike this? If not for the information you have to at least enjoy the true enthusiasm he has while giving out his tips.
You are my favorite pro! Keep catching em all Ike!
Favorite episode!Great info as I'm gonna apply to fishing speckled trout when water gets cold!
when i grow up i want to be like you, i bet your kids feel lucky. great info. i like the way your not afraid to share xp. that you learned throughout your career. your awsome bro much love from cali.
Tried this technique yesterday and man did it work!
great info mike.i'm from asia.and i love finesse casting..absolute fun
I love his shameless wall of lures. I can't wait to try out my Xraps and also the Megbass Shading X finesse jerkbaits I have should be amazing.
I want to go shopping in this dudes garage!
Tony Bombara Yeah, that's what Sponsors will get yah

Love the husky jerk, caught some of my biggest bass with that lure.
Those Ike rods are legit and great for bass.
Great info mike! Thanks for reaffirming my confidence in the jerk bait.
VMC trebles on Rapala jerkbaits are sharp, but they bend out quickly. Gamakatsu trebles are the perfect replacement
I use both those to catch wild brown trout. They work amazing in current compared to many others I've used. Xrap is the king. Willing to take suggestions on other styles if anyone has had success on them.
excellent video Ike! great info
Enjoyed the show!
Tried this at my pond tonight. One small Bass. One Black Crappie and lost a 5 pounder! Thanks Mike.
That wall is sick!
Love that wall behind you man..ITS MY DREAM TO HAVE ALL THAT!!😬
Thanks! Mike you are the man.
this is my favorite way to fish love the husky jerk

I love this guy
I wonder if he's ever fished for snook. If he hasn't, I'm sure he'd love it. X-raps are great on them.
Daniel Lliteras sooooo true
good video. good knowledge . Thanks ...
Yo Mike! Philly fisherman here, any advice on what tournaments in the 215 I could look into to get a start? I've been asking around and can't seem to find anyone who fishes tournament. Thanks man, keep reppin Philly!
I even caught a channel cat while bass fishing a husky jerk silver
From Malaysia Ilove your video

Hey mike! do you ever go fishing for walleye?
I laugh way to hard when i hear your kid screaming lol good job mike i love your vid !!
Cadence, CADENCE is the most important thing!
😱look at all them baits
Man, my Sportsman's warehouse doesn't even have that many Rapala's on their wall right now.
You should vlog your tournaments.
love the kids in the background....the moment you realise hes just like every other man trying to talk fishing.
Thank you I learned something!
Thats the goal buddy. Glad it helped.
Where r some food fishing spots near pittsgrove nj Mike... Thanks
Do you recommend a rod for under $150 for jerkbaits, squarebills, and senkos
i bet KVD is taking tips from your vids.
I'm sure of it
Michigander yep
Ronnie Santo dam that is savage
Great tutorial i appreciated
is there anything you can do to make a sinking jerkbait suspend or float? thx
Where can I buy that shirt Ike?!
I love jerkbaits they always do me good. I just feel like they are impossible to cast far
Small size crankbait. Best thing ever
Which is better, is XRap or Ripstop ?!
Its all in your choice man!
@@mikeiaconellifishing Okay, thank's.. By the way I like your fishing rod ...
Still like this video - thanks man.
Awesome!
How do you get a long cast on an ultra light... I can't get more than maybe 12 feet....
Husky Jerk size 6, tackle warehouse does not seem to carry that size, where can I get it ?????? Thanks
I'm sure bass pro shops has it
I gotta admit , trilene 100% fluorocarbon is the real deal.
Cute lot of lures.
should these reel and rod use in the saltwater?
So true I've even caught a big carp on a small xrap
Hooked in the mouth not snagged
strange I fish in a place called chasawiska here in fl and it runs into salt water but theres springs near the boat ramp and I was catching bass and snook on a 8 inch lizard but I noticed mullet following it like bass will sometimes so I let it drop and he ate it...the strange thing tho is that mullet only eat things without a shell and bones and algae off the boat ramp
+Kyle Lentz they are all his baits.
ike ur so right.... caught a monster 8 pound 30 inch pike on a small rapala jerk bait while trout fishing the other day... 3 trout on the rodd then bam that monster pike blew up my rodd....... idk how i landed him with no net and light line
cool
does this work with baitcasters
Why did you not go fishing?
I thought it was hilarious when Mike yelled cadence at his kids and they stopped
Mike Where Can I Get That Awesome Shirt?!
That walls bigger than my huge local shop !!
thks for the breakdown
The cadence of this video is killing me
Can I use this for really small snook trout and redfish?
Absolutely!
Do you use a snap with the jerk bait or tie straight to it
I always use a loop knot with jerkbaits, take off split ring and tie loop knot directly to jerkbait, allows for alot more natural action of bait.
were's the video for example?
Mike can I come shopping in your garage? Wow!!!
intro is cheezzy.
I catch everything on that Xrap 08.
Yeah............I got two of the Rapala Xraps I can't wait to try...........it's the pause and bumping lures off cover(logs etc.) that REALLY triggers strikes with Bass.
jesus are all those lures yours? or is this a shop?
Those are all his
the markee above the rack seems like a shop
It's all the shit he can't sell.
nice garage
Where can I get that shirt!?
What color is that in the thumbnail?
I use a worm.A lot cheaper and the money I save I can buy more beer and cigarettes.
Nothing like a tackle store in your garage...lmao
More tackle on this wall than my local retail store LOL
Ha, my coach fought Jim Miller, small world.
Second. By the way, are you Italian/Sicilian?
His last name is Iaconelli. Pretty obvious lol
+Return Of The G I was more interested to know if he was Sicilian.
I Vouch for those
it sounds like his kids are playing indoor basketball in the background but I ain't complaining.....Kids will be kids
nice tackle store in home dude your god!!
I just tried that teqnek caught a sucker
And then there was Jimmy Two Times, who got that nickname because he said everything twice, like:
Jimmy Two Times: I'm gonna go get the papers, get the papers.
Does this works with rapala crankbaits
