That is my sort of holiday. Don’t know if it’s just me but sometimes the slightly inclement weather brings out the best in places. We all like to bask in the sunshine but, to me, it is an atmosphere drainer. In the late 80s I went on my first walking trip to Dartmoor. For years I had walked the Peak District and North York Moors in all weathers so the dramatic Dartmoor was going to be the best. However, it was hot and sunny all the time I was there, suffered sunstroke and hated it, none of the atmosphere I had dreamed of over the years. So my relaxation is a wrapped up warm on a cold day walking through woods listening to the wind in the trees and the odd pattering of rain on my hood.
Graham I agree entirely. 😍I hope you don't mind I loved your comment so much I pinned it to the top. There are actually so many benefits and positives to embracing the out of season holiday. Not only do I really enjoy the feeling of space (not fighting the hoards) but also everywhere we went people had time for us. I've got to say the folk of Appledore were warm, kind and very generous. Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave such a thoughtful comment. 🙏 💫
So happy I discovered your channel, Sarah! Beautiful video! I, too, love the sounds and patterns of the crashing ocean waves. I currently live in Colorado USA, and the ocean is the one thing I miss since moving here.
Hi @francinetoni268! 😊 Oh, thank you so much-what a lovely comment to read! I’m so happy you’ve found the channel and are enjoying it! ❤️ There’s something so mesmerising about the ocean, isn’t there? 🌊 The sounds, the patterns, that endless movement-it’s just magic. I can imagine it must feel so far away living in Colorado (though I hear it’s stunning there in its own way!). Sending some virtual sea breezes your way. 🌬️🐚 Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment-it really means a lot to me! xx
Oh Wilma it really was. Good. Thank you for watching and your continued support. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I was so nervous at talking to the camera and knowing if it would be recieved warmly. 🙏💫
I sooo love your tours specially this one of your holiday! I like how you show the area well so those of us who don't live in England can see the pretty towns and shores. Enjoy your sketching always too I have to fo for a long wak each morning before I can do art. It gives me ideas and is calming before trying to sketch or paint.
Thanks so much Suzanne.🤗 TBH I felt quite nervous about this one with talking directly to the camera and showing so much footage of the place. I really enjoy the creativity that comes with videography but its a difficult edit with so many clips & I know so little. Yes, I to find getting outside really helps clear my head and gets me into a settled/peaceful state for art. 🚶🏼♀️➡️🙏🏼🌳
Thank you so much, Nick! 😊🎉 Hitting 1000 subs feels like such a big milestone, and I’m so grateful for your support. 💛 Following my bliss has definitely been an adventure, and I love sharing it with you. Thanks for the encouragement-it truly means the world! 🌟✨
Hi Sarah, I really enjoyed watching your video from beautiful North Devon. My husband and I visited the area last year in May and have had wonderful holidays there. Fortunately not so overcrowded. We did very much beautiful walks and I could do some sketches at our breaks. I loved to see the paintings from RJ Lloyd. Thank you very much for sharing this video. Have a lovely day:)
Hi Gabi, Thank you for watching and what a lovely comment. I'm glad you've had the chance to visit North Devon. Yes for us we really enjoyed it while it wasn't busy. Speaking to a couple of locals it looks as though there are areas even in summer where you can find some uncrowded places. Have a great week Gabi. 💫🙏🏼
I loved this, thanks Sarah for sharing your lovely holiday, I really want to visit Applesore after seeing this! I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in your white mystery bag.😉x
Thanks Jessica. 💫Yeah if you get a chance to visit Its a lovely spot. I cant wait to my mystery bag vid. I just need to start doing it again which I still haven't done.🤷🏼♀️ Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.🙏🏼
I don't know how, but I’m so incredibly happy that your vlog was recommended in my UA-cam playlist! I’m currently a Master’s student at the University of Exeter, and being here in the UK especially in Devon, is a dream come true. Its close proximity to Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks is such a blessing for someone like me who loves live sketching and plein air painting. I mostly use Holbein, Winsor & Newton and Alpha from South Korea for my watercolours. I've yet to try Caran d'Ache gouache! Also, I often hear the locals commenting about the dreary, grim, and gloomy weather here, but I absolutely love it. It gives a mystical, almost magical feel to the lush landscapes of the Southwest. So far, I’ve explored Okehampton, the Meldon Reservoir, and the stunning Triassic red cliffs of Exmouth. I can’t wait to continue exploring and sketching as much of the South as possible before heading up to the Midlands and Highlands! Your video is so lovely, I enjoyed it tremendously! xx
@karyadamai 🌟 Oh wow, what a wonderful comment-thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and inspiring message! 💕 I’m thrilled that my vlog found its way into your playlist-it must be serendipity! 😊 How amazing that you’re studying at the University of Exeter and soaking up all the magic of Devon! Dartmoor and Exmoor are absolute treasures, aren’t they? 🏞️ It’s wonderful to hear you’re diving into plein air painting. Those brands you mentioned are such good choices for watercolors-I love Holbein and Winsor & Newton too! 🎨✨ And Caran d’Ache gouache is definitely worth a try-it’s a dream for vibrant, buttery textures. I’m with you on the "dreary" weather-it’s like living in a storybook world, right? 🌫️🌳 There’s something about those misty hills and dramatic skies that sparks creativity (and makes a hot cuppa taste even better ☕). Your explorations sound incredible-I’d love to see your sketches from Okehampton and Exmouth! The Triassic cliffs are breathtaking. Thank you again for your kind words about my video-it means the world to me! ❤️ Wishing you all the best in your adventures and studies-Devon (and beyond!) is so lucky to have you capturing its beauty. xx 😊🌟
U did it! U got to over the first thousand subs mark! Go u! How’s your watch hours going? Thanks for the cosy eye candy video! Love the way u do your vids. Xx
Awww Julianne! 💫💖 Thank you for watching, your continued support and such a lovely comment. Of course its because of you and other subscribers that I got here. 🙏🏼 I got the watch hours first, so was waiting for the subscriber count to cross over last week. It was absolutely the best feeling. I cant decide yet what to set for my next goals. Have a great week. 🤗
@ youre very welcome. I’m just glad I found u. You’ve inspired me to think about reviving my own channel next year! Also inspired me to not hate pencils lol. I. Love to support small channels and watch them grow feeling like a proud mama lol. Also our similar backgrounds, I hate to support that lol.
Hello! My bestie lived in Irsha St for a while - and some other friends lived in 'so tiny' at 2.35 in your film - unsurprisingly called 'The Doll's House'.
Hi Moyra. Wow, that Dolls House!😳So many fascinating buildings, I wanted to go in them all. I take it you must know the area well or live there yourself perhaps. Its such a great place and so welcoming. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. 🙏🏼💫
Hi @shaundawson5639! 😊 That’s such a brilliant way to ease back into art-watching videos and daily doodling sounds like the perfect combo. 🎨✏️ It’s amazing how those little daily bits add up, isn’t it? Before you know it, you’ll be diving into full-on masterpieces! I’m so glad you’re here, and I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Keep going-you’ve got this! 💪❤️

What's really sad is that 80% or more of the beautiful long Irsha street is holiday homes.
Want to get back art after a long time out at the moment I’m watching UA-cam videos and doodling everyday
