me and my brother and dad watched this. i remember it was the Monday after Christmas and were all sitting downstairs by the fire. at the 1/2 16-0 we thought it was a sealed deal. This was one hell of a game. The NFL isn't the same anymore.
2009 Saints and Vikings were the class of the NFC. I couldn't decide which team I liked more; the upstart Saints with that offense or Favre + Adrian Peterson with the D line of Jared Allen and Kevin Williams. In December suddenly the Saints go from 12-0 to 13-3 the Vikes only a game behind at 12-4. I can't believe that was 11 years ago; ancient history to today's frat boys and teens getting seriously into football fandom.
In hindsight; the 2008 Saints were also #1 Offense but bad defense; 8-8 flew under radar, like I barely knew anything about 08 Saints. #1 Scoring offenses, MVP QBs, they lose postseason. #1 Defenses fewest pts can win it all with a below average offense like 2000, 2002, 2015.
This was the best game I ever seen live my granddaddy was a huge bear fan since 72 he passed away 5 years ago but man I still have to video of him jumping and smiling and it breaks me down every time I watch this game
2:01:10 that fumble doesn't happen, Culter doesn't throw the bomb to Aromashadou, and likely the Vikings win and NFL title game gets played in Minnesota. Funny sometimes are the 'what-ifs' of sports, huh?
When Peterson fumbled that ball I was laughing my ass off. I’m a Bears fan so I was like “you fumbling bastard!” 😂😂 And to the think the Vikings kicked the Bears ass in Minnesota earlier that year and they allowed the Bears to win here.
@@djeanpierre and if you look closely enough at reply, the Bears got away with a face mask penalty, but the ref did not have a good view at it at the time so it was never called.
I remember this game. I was at a coworkers house in Berwyn (suburb of Chicago) and it was FREEZING that night. After the Aromashadu TD in OT I got up and walked out because it was late and we had to go to work the next morning...lol. Good memories.

now thats why all the packers and bears fans were saying "peterson fumble peterson fumble your team sucks" when i was in elementary school. yep how it is horrible to be a Vikings fan.
Vikings fans say to us Saints fans that they were the better team. Well if you were truly the better team, then you should have stopped Jay Cutler in this Monday Night Football game to get the number one seed and home field advantage, or you should have showed up against the Panthers the previous week. If you were truly the better team then you should have taken advantage of us losing our final 3 games. You certainly were a dirtier team, even though you lie to other fanbases that you were clean. You guys had a bounty program and did it on both sides of the ball and were far more successful with it and injured more opponents than us. Also, our offense was better than yours. You wouldn't have won the Super bowl if you did make it even though you have deluded yourselves into thinking otherwise

Well They lost to Carolina as well a week prior to this game. A team they should have easily beat.
@@keyshawnbess572 exactly... and AZ a couple weeks before that. 🤷🏻♂️. They had multiple chances to make the road go through the metrodome.

Insanely underrated game. Great, great divisional slug fest! Thanks for posting!
I can accept this defeat, a lot of Good football in this game. Favre in purple was Magic
GO CHICAGO BEARS
As a Saints fan, thank you Jay Cutler
Cutler late down the middle and forcing the ball inside lmao Cutty was a gunslinger mane!
One thing about Cutler- he didn't slide very often. He might have had his knucklehead moments but his heart was in the right place.
Also he had some crappy O-lines most of his career
