The last shot of the season is so brutal, after all the police leave and the bad guy is caught, Janice's dad is still left with a quiet empty house to go back to. In an interview somewhere Bill Hader said he thinks he could stand out there for hours, just not wanting to go back inside. Haunting.
I absolutely LOVE the tonal arc the show goes on. Kinda devolving into absurd, bleak, dark stuff just like how Barry, as a character, devolves. But it still finds moments for GREAT comedy, even if they are not as frequent. The last season has some of the funniest moments in the entire show.
12:54 Albert confronting Barry is similar to how in addiction there comes a point where someone finally forces you to stop & face consequences. It’s scary but at the same time the weight of the world lifted off your shoulders. You no longer have to lie and be pulled along by the strings of life. It was too little too late. Barry also went immediately back to his old ways
One of the things this show does exceptionally well is make you feel as trapped as the characters are. In just this episode you got Gene with Jim, Sally being strangled and Barry holding her face afterward, Hank in the cell with the tiger(?) next door, and poor Cristobal. More often than not as the audience you just feel like you're observing, but frequently the cinematography in Barry has you feeling like you're there with the characters
(Originally watching the episode back in the day) I genuinely thought that everything with NoHo Hank was just the cartel guys playing mind games/psyops with him. Even up to & including the "lion massacre" at the end.
The shock therapy scene maybe isnt the DARKEST moment in the show but its certainly the one that disturbed me in ways i cant describe the most. for me, its the most messed up thing i saw on Barry
People at the beach are not the people who killed by Barry, because there are people there who are not killed by Barry directly (also Janice Moss is not there) they are people who Barry knowed in his life that are also going to hell. Reason Gene and Sally appears in the beach later is because Barry is afraid they will go to hell too if they descend into darkness like he did. Just like you realized in the previous episode, Sally came really close to the darkness but didn't enter it, unlike Barry in Season 2 final where he fully walked back into it. That's why Barry tried Sally to change her mind in this episode. What implied Barry saw in the beach when the very loud noises started, was basically opening of the gates of hell. Whether this was a hallucination by Barry or not is open to interpretation.
One of my favorite bits here is that Gene Cousineau is, in fact, a bad actor since he flaunts his talent but only has been in minor roles. However, in the final moments, it becomes clear that Gene needs to pull of his greatest scene, tricking Barry.
😂 how do people settle on opinions like this? have you paid attention at all? sally is certainly one of the narcissists of all time, but she’s just not a sociopath.
@@wavehellhole Right? Imagine saying this about Sally in an episode where another character literally executes prisoners via panther attack at the exact same time that she's subjecting her husband to electroshock therapy in an attempt to "cure" his homosexuality. But no, Sally has been self-centered, so she's DEFINITELY the worst...
I’ll be perfectly honest, this episode is really where the show lost me. I truly did not enjoy or agreements where the show goes from here on out, but I can at least adjust and admire that this show is incredibly well produced, acted, and plotted.

It was rough…she’s still gone, in a violent way.
"I trust Jim Moss!"
*3 seconds later*
"I no longer trust Jim Moss"
The knife tip poking out of the eye is one of the gnarliest injuries I've ever seen in any movie or show 😬
And what makes it more real is that he just thinks he was poked in the eye, not realizing it's coming through from the back of his neck.
@@SuzakuXikr he's in shock he can't see outta that eye doesn't even realize it was a knife brutal AF

4x3 is, in my opinion, the funniest goddamn episode of the show. That car scene fucking broke me first time watching.
@@Moosemeese_ "Fuck. I mean, even in death! 🥺😳"
@@Moosemeese_ Gene and Tom breaking into the reporter's house is also one of the funniest moments of the whole show
Sarah Goldberg (Sally Reed) is such an amazing actress. Absolutely love her freak out moments.

The actor for Albert really sold that scene. It was such a powerful performance, I love it
the “starting now” full body chills…. REAL
And Gene actually proves his talent as an actor at the end of the episode.
I can’t wait till season 4 starts. It is so wild.
Remember when he told Barry he wouldn't turn him in, in episode two and Barry responds "Your a bad actor"
Sarah Goldberg deserved an Emmy for this episode.

"What's left to wrap up in on season 4?"
Barry's soul.
So, many good scenes but that scene with Albert breaks me.
I appreciate that they didn’t try to force comedy in where it wasn’t necessary. Buckle up; season 4 is a rough one, emotionally speaking.
That scene at the end with Hank and the tiger? cat- thing, is so haunting yet so funny. Man this show is so great.
What makes it funny?
@michaelproch8801 Idk I thought it was really funny just the random noises from whatever animal is behind there and the absurdity of it
@@michaelproch8801I think the scene is so over the top that lots of people laugh because they're uncomfortable

This show is seriously, one of the craziest fucking shows I've ever watched. And It's awesome
RIP Akhmal 😥
....do you think the big cat bit his shoulder first?......Sorry, I'll see myself out 😅

This really is the episode where shit starts getting unimaginably dark, and it just stays that way until the end of the series.

Easily one of the most brutal episodes of the show. But still beautifully done.
4 months i’ve been waiting. this is THE episode
Season 4 turns into a Coen Brothers movie.
Agreed

Sally is so lost and scared and i cant help but feel for her
I love her character but she is so narcissistic I can't feel sorry for her.
@@jeffperdue2804 I totally get feeling that way as well. Her actress is insanely good
"You're a bad actor, MR. Cousineau" 💀
I think this would be a satisfying series finale.
Just desserts
I love Barry despite all his flaws. I don't really get people that dislike and criticize him all throughout the series
Do you love Barry Berkman? DO YOU LOVE BARRY BERKMAN!!!
this episode is just a lot, but i still love it
What's creepy is, Jim Moss was 8 when he had Janice (If we go off the Actors ages)
I can’t wait for you two to get into Season 4. The final season is a Tatanic wild rollercoaster.
Sally is the biggest sociopath in the show. Every main in the show has been a horrible person in one way or another

I've watched the series multiple times. I stand by what I say. Has nothing to do with her self defense
Wow. You are the only two reactors to dislike the best episodes of Barry. There must be no mean streets in your neighborhoods!
If season 3 messed yall up I can't imagine what season 4 will do
I'm still upset that Anthony Carrigan wasn't cast as Lex Luthor. Such a wasted opportunity.

The show should have ended here tbh.
