  • I'm excited to sit down with Dr. Bruce Hoffman. We talk about histamines, Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), and much more. Make sure to listen to the full interview to learn more.
Dr. Bruce Hoffman was born and educated in South Africa, obtaining his medical degree from the University of Cape Town. Following two years of compulsory military training, his aversion to the local regime prompted him to emigrate to Canada in 1986, where he pursued a family medical practice in rural Saskatchewan.
Dr. Bruce Hoffman is board-certified and holds a fellowship in anti-aging medicine, along with a Master’s degree in clinical nutrition. He is also a certified functional medicine practitioner. In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Hoffman has studied under many leading mind-body and spiritual healers, including Deepak Chopra, Paul Lowe, Osho, Ramesh Balsekar, and Jon Kabat-Zinn. Having shared the stage with Dr. Deepak Chopra and Dr. John F. Demartini, he continues to convey his inspiring vision of healing and wellness to audiences and patients worldwide.

I really want to thank you Judy - when you said for some "going carnivore harder" is not the real answer, it was a real lightbulb moment and helped me immensely. For me a meat-based diet was huge, and it put my body in a good starting position to weather heavy-metal chelation. Also after reading the works of Andy Cutler it transpires that people with mercury poisoning often have damaged adrenals, and those people often crave carbs and salt, and should eat them when they do. Carbs for me mean pumpkin and parsnips. I am doing Mercury chelation and it is extremely successful, but it is a long-term process. many thanks. You are a very thoughtful, wise voice in the Carnivore sphere.

@@fayschneider503 I have already tried many things, I have read many medical and health books ranging from traditional undergraduate Medical textbooks, to popular health books such as "No Pain, No grain", GAPS diet, Sally Norton, books on Methylation - all of which have been both fascinating and valuable. I read Andy Cutler's manual - it chimed with me. So I started doing heavy metal detox. I did a hairtest (not necessary) but it read as positive for deranged mineral transport and therefore Mercury toxicity. My symptoms are/were migraine, autoimmune disease, spasming, allergy, rheumatic, bodily weakness.

For those looking to reset the nervous system, I highly recommend Irene Lyon and her Smart Body, Smart Mind program. She has an introductory course and full blown in depth course. In all my healing jouneys, that is the most difficult. There is some sort of resistance, even if you have the desire for it. It is so simple, yet so challenging. Also, seeing a somatic, cranial-sacral practioner is beneficial in that journey. Good luck to everyone in resolving their "mystery illness". Judy, I would love for you to interview Irene Lyon, possibly with her husband Seth as well. Seth had a lot of trauma to work through, so he has a good testimony.

Knowing the trauma history is not enough though, treating the impact of trauma on the body is essential. I still struggle with histamine reactions, but somatic healing has helped me get out of the fight/flight/freeze hijack with Trauma Release Exercise. Which was also a life saver financially, because once I learned the basics I was able to do it at home on my own. The amount of re-traumatizing that takes place while trying to heal is significant.

Very interesting conversation. I would caution however the guest and the host to be careful with their patients who have come from traumatic childhoods. If they get into a treatment with an lesser qualified person, they could have a psychological break that could trigger a serious outcome. I only say that because I've been through a lot of counseling and I know that when I had the wrong person things didn't go well. Still I'm curious about the treatment modalities you're speaking about and I would like to investigate those!

Can be done just walking/standing barefoot on the ground or you can buy products to allow grounding while sleeping, at work (desk mat, etc). Professor Bart Kay has videos on the subject, I think. edit - at some point, if you stay vegan long enough, you will become nutrient deficient. Plants don't contain all essential nutrients that humans need.
