  • Snake a towel through a kettlebell and grab the opposite corners of the towel and put them together. Roll them a few times until they make a tight closure of the loop you just made and so they have enough material for you to bite on securely. Bite down, slowly lower the kettlebell into position until you can safely hold it with just your mouth. Extend your neck backwards squeezing the neck and traps, then lower it slowly until the chin touches the chest. These are also great for posture and can be performed with extension only without the neck flexion component as seen towards the end of the video.
Trainer Tips: Perform these at your own risk! This is an old school neck and jaw strengthening drill to strengthen the neck and help prevent being knocked out in a fight. Wear a mouthguard if you can.

I like that it mimics the movement of biting a piece of meat off an animal. Kinda natural exercise.

@JD_1209 I don't think that's how it works. If anything it might help . I would also suggest mouth tape and nasal breathing. Can change jaw structure for the better

Will this be bad for my tooth or anything?

Could be if you have decaying or loose teeth. You can strengthen anything over time

I've been doing this with a 35lbs kettlebell (seated) started only a couple weeks ago and did it for 15 reps today. Do you think that's too much?

As long as you have good teeth 😂 should be okay. I don't think its too heavy if you can perform 15 reps but i wouldn't be rushing to do a 100lb KB just yet

@@theneurostrengthcoach Appreciate it, and yeah, I'll probably stick to 35lbs for a looong time😂

How many sets and reps? Min and max?

I'd go by feel. Neck training is different for everyone based on your life history. Desk workers I'd start lighter weight for 3 or 4 sets of 20. If you work construction or used to wrestle and have a good neck you can hit em for 3-5 sets of 6-12 reps pushing the weight a bit. There's benefits to all rep ranges and weight. Less reps for strength, high reps for connective tissue health 🙏

@@theneurostrengthcoach I do neck flexions, rotations and lateral too. In these exercises I can do the same range of reps than neck extensions?
