Yes, it is a huge airport and you'll need a lot of time, but it's always very clean, very modern and the signage is the best I've ever seen at an airport. I'd take LHR over FRA in a heartbeat! :D Next one is already done, it's going to be a flight with Virgin America.

I have a special fondness for BA B744's since they were the flights I used on my first trip to the US in the summer of 2018. I had booked the "Hindu meal" for the trip and the lunch service they had served after departure from LHR was simply one of the best meals I have ever had, plus they had followed it up with a Magnum ice-cream. And to top it all of, I even had a chance to visit the flight deck after landing at Phoenix. I miss these B744's a lot 💔

This brings back so many memories coincidental I went to colorado about 6 years ago from London and it was by far the best experience I had ever been on and what really gave me Deja vu was the chive pretzels I remember them like it were yesterday!
Worked at the Denver airport for 3 years watching this flight pull into and depart the A concourse daily. It was one of my favorite parts of the day watching these big BA birds pull up. Got to fly business class on this flight a few times to ! Thanks for the video. Also if you were wondering about the music being played on the bridge... It's been playing 24/7 since the airport opened because when the airport was being excavated there were Native American burial grounds uncovered there. The burial grounds were paved over however out of respect for the tribe the Native American "burial music" was promised to play continuously for the entire life of the airport.
I like the fact you checked out your gate early, its the first thing I do when get to departures, then I can shop and eat safe in the knowledge I know how to get to the gate. Got to say, the IFE looks older than the aircraft and G-BNLY is 27 years old!
I fully agree with you, if you already know where the gate is you enjoy more the terminal! British recently upgraded their 747 fleet with new cabins so they don't have this old IFE anymore! :D
Ah Denver Colorado....my home! David and Felix if you do ever come out again, check out the Frontier Airlines housed at Concourse A. You literally cannot miss them as they are bright green and blue and carry animals on their tails.

I have only been to heathrow twice... but the first time it was easy to navigate. Second time was like taking a walk in your neighbourhood. Just follow the signs.. it's easy!
As I write this in 2023, this video is about 8 years old. The problem is that 2015 doesnt seem that long ago to me, yet this video is filled with nostalgia - the B747 being chief among them. They've been gone from BA for 3 years already! The cabin was pretty dated even in 2015 but the IFE looks prehistoric with old and slow IFE; the newer refurbished cabins were actually quite good on BA, at least I liked them. Did this aircraft even get an updated cabin? I figured BA might have got 10 years out of the refurbishments, at least, if not for the pesky pandemic forever changing the airline industry landscape. Oh, I do miss the Queen of the Skies no matter what livery she wore (I was fortunate to fly on a Lufthansa B747-8 just a couple of months ago - who knows if this will prove to be my last flight on the QOTS).
Had the exact same meal on my BA flight to Phoenix in August. It was fine but I must admit, one down side of being on a 747-400 is those damn screens! They're so frustrating! xD And I also had to wait for two hours at Phoenix to go through customs... It's like these US airports are not able to process a 747 load of people efficiently! Anyways nice video as always! :D

Do you have a focus ring on your camera? If you use that feature to focus on views beyond the wet windows, you should have some success. Great trip report by the way, thanks. Sorry, I meant to mention that you can only do this when the camera is set on M for Manual, not Auto. Good luck.

I enjoyed seeing your convoluted passage through Heathrow to get to your gate. We didn't get to see the legroom for an Economy seat - an important factor on such a long flight. I felt for those poor souls trapped in middle seats in the center of the plane. The food looked quite acceptable for Economy, and though the plane was an old one, it seemed to be in good condition.
After watching almost every trip report, I have come to a conclusion that chicken with mashed potatoes and carrots is the standard dish for long-haul economy class flights. It seems to be all that they serve...
I wonder what the processing time is now to get through customs. I noticed DIA has mobile passport control and it’s available to selected travellers, hopefully my arrival there in a few weeks is quick & smooth!
Hey ! Very nice report ! I did almost the same trip as you but it was Geneva - Heathrow - Denver with BA in February 2015 ! But it was an boeing 777. No London is not always cloudy ! When I landed it was sunny and I saw the o2 arena, the wembley staduim, big ben, the big eyes... Just kidding :) I wasn't alone actually, I was with 20 others students (school exchange) and ou first flight from Geneva to LHR was a little bit late so when we left the plane, a woman from BA was wainting us and she brought us to the terminal 5 with the basement where staff and stars go because theres not a lot of people so it was fast (10 minutes) :). Thank you again for your report, its very interesting !

I love when someone smiles at the camera when filming , most of the people seem to be annoyed by it. Very nice report even with no take off from LHR , did they ask you to turn off the camera?
That makes me so happy too! :) We avgeeks have to live with people being annoyed from our work, haha... Whether it's the other passengers, the police, the security at the airport, the staff, everyone seems to dislike filming, haha... :) No luckily nobody asked me to turn of my camera on this flight! :D
Some times they ask me to turn off the camera ,but then i improvise, The things we do for theses trips reports if people would look behind the scenes, they would b amazed.Cheers.

Great style trip report. That's definitely clotted cream though @ 18:02 to put on the Scone with the Jam. I suppose it's a very British thing not everyone knows the deal when they open up that box... Then you have to decide whether or not you're a jam or cream first type of person...
That's nice. It took us 1:30 to go through JFK boarding customs and we wer coming from Montreal. So, 2:10 for a very long flight, that's not long. We will try next time from Burlington.

Did a trip to NYC last year with BA, out on a 777, more comfortable seats and better ife. The old birds 747s are really showing their age now, especially in economy, they should have had interior refitted by now across the fleet.
Simply Aviation Great news, hopefully it will be complete by September as I'm flying out to Vegas world traveller plus and returning club world. One presumes that the whole cabin will be upgraded.

I love when someone smiles at the camera when filming , most of the people seem to be annoyed by it. Very nice report even with no take off from LHR , did they ask you to turn off the camera?
That makes me so happy too! :) We avgeeks have to live with people being annoyed from our work, haha... Whether it's the other passengers, the police, the security at the airport, the staff, everyone seems to dislike filming, haha... :) No luckily nobody asked me to turn of my camera on this flight! :D
Some times they ask me to turn off the camera ,but then i improvise, The things we do for theses trips reports if people would look behind the scenes, they would b amazed.Cheers.
I just don't do it... As soon as the f/a is gone I continue... :) There is nothing dangerous about a camera!
I did it when taking of from LHR and they didn't say anything

Great style trip report. That's definitely clotted cream though @ 18:02 to put on the Scone with the Jam. I suppose it's a very British thing not everyone knows the deal when they open up that box... Then you have to decide whether or not you're a jam or cream first type of person...

That's nice. It took us 1:30 to go through JFK boarding customs and we wer coming from Montreal.
So, 2:10 for a very long flight, that's not long. We will try next time from Burlington.
+jolielef JFK seems to be awful for entering the US, I always try to use EWR when flying into NYC... Well, good luck in Burlington! :D
thanks for the vid simply aviation, was helpfull cause i heared heathrow was complicated, i heared brits can't cook but looking at the airline food...looks like it has been eaten by someone already.. seems like i have to bring my own picnic basket for the long flight to bangkok

Did a trip to NYC last year with BA, out on a 777, more comfortable seats and better ife. The old birds 747s are really showing their age now, especially in economy, they should have had interior refitted by now across the fleet.
