Tortoises aren’t usually grumpy lol just because they are slow, Tilly G shows no grumpiness, only curiosity.
Tilly G is a Sulcata Tortoise, who can grow to over 150lbs. She is not an ol fella, she a juvenile.
That shot of both dogs and turtle eating carrots like at a picnic is just too much haha all just chilling out
It kinda gave me anxiety that she let her puppy be around the reptile. Licking it, eating near it and so on. It's not uncommon to catch an infection from reptiles... think of a newborn baby handling a lizard and licking it and eating the same food. Death can happen. It's a needless risk, especially for an animal not full grown.

Anyone who says reptiles don’t have personalities has never had a Tortoise, Bearded Dragon, or any other reptile. For a long time scientists thought mammals were the only ones with personalities. But they are learning sharks, turtles, and other animals they always thought had no personalities, in fact do have personalities.
Yeah, but these days, many humans seem to have no personality. I suppose it's the old yin and yang. :)
@@DieFlabbergast That's because of technology. There is far more stimuli and people are overwhelmed and relying on their survival brains. It's a good thing that you notice that. It means you are controlled by your thinking brain. Not all people are humans. Some are still animals. So they have emotions, but their personalities are more subdued by the constant fight or flight state they're in.

I love this. Once, I had to stop at a farm for business, and I was greeted by the coolest trio of friends: a turkey, a goat, and a goose with angel wings (a deformity). These three went everywhere together, and they greeted me and were very friendly. I'll never forget it.

Awww about 15 years ago, we rescued a dog from shelter. I also had a tortoise at that time. My dog passed away last year, and I remember about him watching this video. Maybe it's time for me to rescue another dog :') The turtoise is still here btw!

To anyone out there even thinking about it, I just want to say the pet that turned out to be the biggest surprise to my wife and myself was our Sulcata Tortoise.
You'd never believe a tortoise could be that interactive (ours even came when you called him).
They make great pets and are super easy to care for.
the only downside that they'd just outlive us, and too big obviously
They only make good pets if you know what you're doing/ getting into. They'd be a terrible pet for anyone unprepared.

When animals of different species become close, we often say they must think they're of the same species, but I really doubt that. I think they just don't mind. My dog absolutely knows the difference between "dog" and "kitty" and reacts differently to the two words, but is extremely excited either way. And he's learned how to play with both in a way where everyone is having fun.

Ah, the sulcata tortoise. Very big, shockingly strong, and more than capable of completely rearranging your furniture and landscaping. Known to think of barriers they can see through but not pass through as barriers they have not rammed hard enough yet. Also lots of personality, especially for a lawnmower. Very nice to see one making friends with the dogs.

This is so sweet...we had tortoises | turtles in NM they are very smart creatures...they would come ‘running’ across the yard when they heard us open a can of treats. One time we were on the roof and I called to them and they came running, looking up toward my voice-that was actually the moment I realized just how smart turtles are.

By the same token, your cat and dog can learn tricks- which one is easier to motivate?, especially considering your dog is motivated by just a little praise from you. it can be done- as shown in this video (which took him 10 years to teach!)
Still think your tortoise knows its name? Just test it with your voice over the phone or on tape. Does the tortoise still respond?
