    I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss as well as the new MSFS a320 NEO. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

    For those not able to get the APPR button to work - since FlyByWire moved over to their own bespoke FMS, RNAV no longer works for altitude. The new VNAV system will allow it to follow the altitude constraints at each waypoint, but it won't descend down the glideslope.

  • @xNYCMarc
    @xNYCMarc 3 роки тому +68

    @2:23 FYI for the American audience as I'm unfamiliar with EASA rules : "Z" doesn't mean "most commonly used approach". It simply means it's a "straight-in approach" and that there is more than one. So there necessarily has to at least be a "Y" as well. There could be more than two though. If there is only one published approach, it won't have a letter. If the letter is from the beginning of the alphabet, like "A", it means it's a "circling-approach". Straight-in approaches start from the end of the alphabet (Z) and increment backwards. Circling-approaches start from the beginning of the alphabet (A) and increment forward.

    Thank you for this, so far I’ve just been doing ILS landings with the A320 and it’s made it problematic when I want to land at an airport that has either no ILS or one runway with ILS. I’ve known of RNAV approach but never knew how to actually do it, turns out it’s not as difficult as I thought. Thank you!

    For those, who are wondering, why it is not working any more: The exp and dev Version auf FBW A32NX uses an own Autopilot. In this video, the FBW A320 still uses the standard A320 Autopilot, which was able to fly RNAV approaches. The FBW Autopilot is not any more, but will be again with ongoing development of the addon aircraft.

      Damn, I have just been trying this out and I could not get it to work. Does it work with the MSFS A320 Version?........ or is that a non starter? And to compound the problem, ABAVI was outside the flight path for some reason... that's new!

      @@joaopaulomg2007 Hello bro. Thank you for answering, I appreciate à lot. I think it's not a glide path because it doesn't operate in RNAV procedure but the marker showing the deviation related to your altitude. The glide path appears when you activate the LS button during ILS approach, that's the reason you dont need to activate it in RNAV, and that's what he says in the same video. Do I misunderstand what you mean ? After all, you're right, it's hard to manage the plane in Fs2020 because missing a lot of functionnality. For the moment, specifically for this plane and waiting for the Fenix's aircraft, announced for about 39$ in august, I use to fly on the Fslabs P3D. Thx again for your interest.

    Thanks for this one. Been waiting for it.................. NIcely exlained and carried out. One other thing to consider also is temperature. The Jeppesen plates prohibit flying one of these approaches if the temperature is above or below the limits printed on the charts. That could be important in parts of the world that have extremes of weather. In Europe I suspect the limits are rarely exceeded.

    @3:26 FYI: In the USA, RNAV-LPV (Localizer Performance Vertical guidance) approaches are precision approaches with "glideslope" indications identical to ILSs. The aircraft must have signal from at least 4 GPS satellites plus a WAAS satellite signal (Wide-Area-Augmentation-System). WAAS is only available in US, Canada and Mexico though.

    Great instructional video, but unfortunately the A32NX FlyByWire doesn't support RNAV landings at this time. From their website: "Currently the FlyByWire A32NX is only capable of ILS approaches. RNP-RNAV will be available once the custom Flight Management System has LNAV and VNAV capabilities." If you're proficient, you can hand fly the approach setting a descent rate, but the approach mode will not work in the A32NX. It does, however, work in the stock A320 from MSFS.

      You can still basically do RNAV approaches as the FBW A320neo does have enough working autopilot capabilities. Just check the charts for the GS angle, and set that in the autopilot for FPA mode once you get to your FAF and you're all setup to land. Obviously though I do not recommend this for night/low visibility landings, as if your FPA is set incorrectly or not working the way you want it to, you won't be able to have much verification that the approach is going awry other than altitudes set on the charts.

    This all depends upon how the Asobo FMS flight plan handles the Sid and star approaches. If Asobo got the code right everything is fine. If the Asobo code is wrong for your particular airport approach, it won't work.

      You put it in the first blue box on the right side on the approach performance page, it should be like MDA or something, its the Minimum Decision Altitude, the minimum altitude MSL you must see the runway by on the approach, if you do not see the runway by this point you must initiate a go around. You can also input DH which is the same concept but the altitude is AGL, you see on his chart the DH is next to the MDA but the DH is in parentheses. You only have to put in one or the other.
