      @@maryannemelenka9250I have to agree with the bad calls. That non-pass interference call when the Als were going for two points was critical because the game would've been tied. Chris Cuthbert was clearly shocked that there was no flag thrown.

    One of the greatest CFL comebacks, the resiliency of Calvillo to complete those passes under pressure like that was absolutely incredible!

    • @AvroBellow
      @AvroBellow 9 місяців тому

      Yeah, and resiliency under pressure wasn't something he was known for in Grey Cups which is why the Als lost so many. I remember the Als losing four Grey Cups in a row and I kinda-sorta knew how Bills fans felt (but not really because I had seen the Als win before so it didn't sting so bad).

      I was talking with a guy from Saskatchewan in a sports bar in Montreal. We were watching it together. I left too early because I was thinking that the Alouettes would lose again.

Athletes that win reasonable money, that play for pride and not for the money, that play for their cities. That's what football should be all about. Rarely you see a CFL game NOT exciting. @bthang1 I'll try to explain:
    NFL: 11 players per side, field is 100x53yds, 4 downs, 10yd end zone, goal posts in the back of the end zone, touchback - ball goes to 20.
    CFL: 12 players per side, field is 110x65yds, 3 downs, 20yd end zone, goal posts in the front of the end zone, touchback - ball goes to 35 and kicking team gets 1 point. Also known as a "single" or "rouge" due to the red flag used to signal the 1 point in the early days. Rouge is French for red.

    @CDxTWal First, the end zones are big because it allows kick returners to run the ball out of the end zone on a missed field goal (same reason as to why the field goals are on the goal line). Also, touchbacks result in 1 point given to the kicking team, which encourages kick returners to bring the ball out of the end zone if they feel that they're going to get decent field position out of it. Lastly, in the CFL, all offensive backfield players, except the QB, may be in motion before the snap.

    who cares how big the field is, how many downs, how many players. Gridiron in general is IMO the greatest sport ever made because it's war with a ball. Most Canadians love Hockey (I love Hockey too). but Gridiron Football to me is the most fun to watch. This was a great game. 28-27 doesn't get much better than that. My friend and I attended that game. We were sitting around the 30-yard line at the opposite end from that final field goal. I wasn't wearing a watermelon helmet but I *was* cheering for the Roughriders. It was a windy evening. So the wind took the ball off-target when Duvall kicked the field goal. The too-many-men penalty moved the play forward enough that Duvall didn't have to get as much lift into his kick, and the wind was much less of a factor. Because we were at the other end of the field, it was the final play of the game, and we were unaware of the penalty call, we thought the victory had already gone to the green-and-white. But it was not to be. As we left the stadium, a TV reporter stuck a mic in my face and asked me what I thought. Trying to capture my dejected mood, I replied "Did you ever win the lottery and come home to tell your wife, only to find her with another man?". I don't know if they ever aired that comment.

    @CDxTWal It is simply that the rules are different. Our field is wider, and longer. Anyone is the backfield is allowed to be in motion. Oh and the single point for kicking it through the end zone, that is a vestige of a long time ago, not unlike say Aussie rules, where if you miss the goal you get a point if you kick it through.

    I'm from Europe and frankly a noob about gridiron but CFL looks fun. OK we all know the NFL is bigger, richer and has better players but the different rules and downhome athmosphere at the CFL seems fun.

    If you are in your endzone and hit the crossbar with a pass and it bounces out the back of the endzone, it's a safety by former NFL rules. Happened in the NFL Championship Game, and the game was decided by one point.

    They scored a "rouge" which is 1 point, you can score a single by punting a ball that is returnable, that the opposing team does not return, it basically gives you a point for a touchback the other team couldve returned. It only counts if it goes out of the end zone.

    The endzones are different than down here in america, but I find this better than the NFL

    The endzone is explained below it comes from Rugby. Missed fieldgoals do get a point if kicked out of the endzone or not returned to +1 yard. We have motion in the CFL with slotback unlike NFL with TE's or WR's

    I don't think any CFL fan will forget this one!!! Being a Bomber fan, I really enjoyed seeing the Riders choke. Now that the Bombers are the joke of the league, I've almost become in different to them. I actually the Riders win tomorrow. Stay warm everybody!

    @wbrycem I'm am American and I was looking for comments about the goal post being in front of the end zone. I couldn't find any, but regardless. CFL's goal post do seem to be a bit longer in length. So there is the difference in the NFL and the CFL's. Nothing wrong with it, like we don't have points in our standings. Good game though

    • @AvroBellow
      @AvroBellow 2 роки тому

      Your goal posts USED to be in the front of the end zone. The NFL moved them to the back in 1974. Check out Super Bowl VIII and you'll see the posts at the goal line.

    You're right it does allow for more strategy, which is different than the CFL. I love both games though. They are unique but great in their own ways.

      When you think about it, both teams choked badly. The difference was that the Riders just couldn't accurately count to 12. 😁

    The Montreal Alouettes, winners of seven Grey Cups. Unofficially, it would be eight if the CFL added the Grey cup that the Baltimore stallions, Who would move to Montreal when Art Modell moved his Cleveland Browns to Baltimore to become the Ravens, won in 1995

    Well, i'm not Canadian, but i do know that the reason a point is awarded for a missed field goal is that if the ball crosses the plain of the endzone and does not leave the endzone a point is rewarded

    Agreed. The athletes are bigger faster stronger, but the game pace of CFL is way faster. 3 downs makes you force the ball down field which causes more turnovers.
    30 seconds in between plays opposed to 40 also picks up the pace a lot.
