One more question. Will I need to order a lighted marquee from arcademodup? My original one don't light up with this mod. Or is there a way to plug the wire it into the control board? I've tried everything.
Hey man. I was able to order the switch and power adapter to light the marquee. I also was able to use the factory controller panel led light from arcade1up big blue as well. A bit of cutting. Do you have a email? I can send you some pictures. Thanks for your help.

I have a silly question but how does it turn on? I ordered the control panel only and now realizing I might have to find my own speakers. But if I only bought the control panel from arcade1up, how will I turn it on and will my original light up marquee still work?
The original marquee works if you selected the version that supports original marquee. It turns on when your power strip turns on. So I just mounted a little power strip on top of it that I use as a power button.

Particulary, when pulling off demanding combos, like max hypercombos, etc? Thinking of getting this kit but I want the best experience possible... at least, better than the MvC2 cab provided...
It’s running retro pi on the newer raspberri pi. Never noticed any issues on it. I did sell my multicade a while back as dedicated cabs came out for some of the games I was playing a lot. But never noticed major issues in the past.
@@OfficeArcade I just got my mod kit and while playing MvC2, I was getting horrible dips in the frame rate when things got busy on the screen (also with random slowdowns during the battles). It helped me out a few times during my installation. I really appreciate it.
Hi Jom! Glad you found it helpful! My best guess would be two things. 1) firmware - a different set of firmware on the emulator or pi could get you different behavior 2) background processes - make sure the OS isn’t running any background jobs that’s stealing system resources from your game. I’d get you the firmware I was running, but I sold that MAME for a bigger MAME project I’m working on for this year (full size cab running a full pc with retro game emulation and modern game compatibility). @@OfficeArcade Thanks for all that insight! I've been playing around with things a lot and I'm getting a better grasp on how this all fits together. Your project sounds fantastic. Are you going to share it with everyone as it comes together? I'd personally love to see it. Even though I'm freshly wrapping this project up, I'm getting an itch for the next, bigger project. Much like yours! Outside of MvC2 it's great. Even with MvC2, it's great. Certainly, some game's controls don't translate super well - but there's a lot of charm to it. My only minor gripe is the lack of saving progress on the few old school games that that supported saved games. It kind of limits what can be played on a cab - but that's just how it goes. Again, thanks for the walkthrough. Videos like this do a lot of good for many.
Of course Jom! Always happy to help the community out as they dive into this unique hobby! I’m planning to do some long form content if I move forward with the project. So I’ll be sharing how I do it all once I green light it for sure! Have a few cool hobby ideas at the moment and trying to narrow my list down to 1 or 2 currently. Haha

to bad they told me in a video you could get that front Is particle wood board with the cover art in without taking apart the cab. as soon as i loosened 3 screws and tried to pop in it got damaged reached out and they never helped me out and replaced. and i was going to spend 900 dollars with them next... idiot's not a great way to do business
I didn't even know that you could buy a replacement front panel. I'm thinking about applying some new vinyl overlays on x-men vs. street fighter, but beyond that, I'll probably leave the stock wood. For the Capcom and Midway cabs, I had minimal issue forcing the top panel in and out with only one loose screw. I didn't want to loosen 3 like they recommended to avoid the monitor or other pieces of wood coming loose. So took a little extra muscle, but outside of that it made the deck install smooth.
@@OfficeArcade not only was the fake wood damaged but the sticker too. i sent photos.... photos mind you. and the person dealing with me was concerned i didn't have my joysticks back on top and screwed in... because get this it also wasn't level with the little would spacers they sent. But I asked to have it escalated because I had a fulfillment issue, and they connected me with someone named Cortney who was amazing. Looked at my photos and had a white ball top with all white buttons shipped out to me that day, because apparently Sanwa doesn't make a purple that matches the buttons ( I still have to put them on the cab, but hoping to do that during my next long weekend, thinking white for player 1 and yellow for player 2).
Haha
What happens to the game the cabinet comes with when you add all these new games? Can you still play it and how do you access it?
You lose access to them because you remove the deck and the original pcb. I'm actually planning on doing a giveaway for Capcom Legacy PCB and arcade deck soon.
A little pricy but think I might sell off one of my cabs and use the money to do this. Nice review.
Not a bad idea at all! Which cab are you thinking about selling and which cab will be the lucky mod?
@@OfficeArcade Not quite sure which I would sell yet, but I'd like to mod my golden tee to a 2 player with a trackball.
@@NoahSties that would be an awesome mod! I haven’t seen a modded golden tee yet. Let me know how it goes!
Where did you get this upgrade kit
Arcademodup.
Are you noticing a lot of compatibility or performance issues? I really want to mod my A1up but not worth the money if the games under-perform. Thanks for the video.
I think every game I tried except crazy taxi and some light gun shooters worked.
@@OfficeArcade Did you get the Pi4 upgrade?
@@WerewolfKweef yes. This was running the pi 4.
Did you have to shut down the PI too?
Yeah, the surge protector I'm running everything into also has the pi going into it. And I use that surge protector as a power button. You can check out the one I got in my community photos. Thanks for watching!
Do you know how to play killer instinct 2 witj the arcademod up ?
I think it might just be a rom on there. You can find the full list of games they preload on their website.
@@OfficeArcade so I just messed up my controls input and can’t put them back the way they were with the joystick :( any help?
@@112ajmartin I’m not sure. I’m sorry. I just left everything in the default configuration.
Are you able to remove games you don't want?
Yeah but you can also just make custom playlists to easily find the games you play.
Hey, I know you’ve updated your deck in a few different videos. Would you be interested in selling the old deck with the updated buttons?
I gave the deck away to a subscriber a little while back! Haha
@@OfficeArcade awww man
Are all these games installed on this kit already
Yup! And controls come pre-configured too.
My god that thing needs 3 plugs to run… no way combine those? My marquee kit had a pass through that ran off the regular adapter
Yeah 3 plugs. Monitor, pi, and marquee.
Is there mods for mk2 legacy with the crappy deck? its my least favorite cause the games are much tougher.
Yup! The company I got this mod kit from sells a front panel mod that raises the deck to make it sit flush with the edges like the KI cab does.
Got used to the shorter shaft? Yeah, that's what she said.
LOL, oh man. Surprised it took me that long to get called out!
Oh snap did I find it lol? Is this the one we were speaking about?
This is the one! Haha
@@OfficeArcade so stoked for this! Those new sticks make such a difference, like night and day
@@DarkReturns1 Yeah, I mean now that I swapped out the sticks and buttons on all my cabs, I fine that my wife and I use them much more. There's nothing more frustrating when trying to enjoy a game than battling against the controls.
@@OfficeArcade For the price of these new arcade1up's you'd think they'd put better controls. Not a fan of the "pro" model at all.
Can't wait to get this one tho. My only complaint is a stupid one, I wish it wasn't a Street Fighter cab just because I already have Big Blue. But the button layout allows for many more games for sure!
@@DarkReturns1 yeah man. I agree. The form factor on the pro line is just super unappealing to me. These traditional risered 3/4 scale cabs just have so much charm to them.
How much total for the mod ?
Was like $270 when I bought it.
How well does MvC2 run?
It ran well enough for a casual like me to enjoin it.
@@OfficeArcade so was looking through the options for the kits and had a few questions if you don't mind:
Did you have to buy/add a light up marquee or can you use your existing one (i have the MvC cabinet)
Did your control panel come with plexi or was that an add on too?
I think the plexiglass was extra and I used my existing marquee but I needed their little power splitter extra.
I have a arcade 1up street figther
What emulate did you use and price
It’s linked in the description. It’s whatever is preloaded by ArcadeModUp. Didn’t have to do any configuration on my own. That’s what I actually liked about this unit. It’s just plug and play. :)
So it comes with all the games?
Yup, the SD card comes configured and ready to go.
Can it play NFL blitz?
Yes
@@OfficeArcade
Thanks for replying
🕹️🎮
How much did it cost?
At the time I think I bought it for about $180 with a promo they were running.
Thanks!
Is it legal to buy?
Yeah, its fine. Theyre not selling the software, just the hardware. The software just happens to be included. You can download the game ROMs, you just can't sell them.
Thats a pink ball my guy
to bad they told me in a video you could get that front Is particle wood board with the cover art in without taking apart the cab. as soon as i loosened 3 screws and tried to pop in it got damaged reached out and they never helped me out and replaced. and i was going to spend 900 dollars with them next... idiot's not a great way to do business
I'm like who flipping cares that's currently not the main issue.... hello its clearly destroyed. it's 25 dollars worth of fake wood a vinyl i bought 2 one for mk2 and sf. i asked can you send me another it was 85 dollars. then if it happens again it's on me. also said after you take care of this matter I'd like to buy a 900 arcade rp set up from you. so i hope this gets taken care of properly. Well guess what.... i knew this would happen and i got back email saying it's been days clearly you were taken care of ticket is close. wow just wow i wrote i knew this would happen what a surprise. i then get a response from some women not liking my reply. i then said i don't really fucking care what you do or don't like i don't like getting fucked out of 85 dollars. So yeah i wasn't happen and gave a Lengthy response. take care brother glad it worked out the first time for you. check arcade shock for joystick tops.
@@trappedintimesurroundedbye5477 Dang. Yeah I had the opposite experience man. I reached out to them about the wrong colors on my ball top/buttons. The first person that reached out seemed like an answering service. I'd suggest seeing if they could connect you up with Cortney, because she was a pleasure to deal with and resolved my issue very quickly.
@@OfficeArcade lol thanks brother maybe i burned that bridge 🤣🤣
@@trappedintimesurroundedbye5477 Hahaha. I gotcha. Well let me know how it ends up playing out!
Great , now u can turn this on and scroll through games for hours , instead of actually playing
Haha. That’s why the first thing I did when I finished the mod was make a favorites list I capped at 100 games.
splatterhouse
The greatest arcade game of all time. Hahaha
Everything was fantastic until that Ms. Pac-Man, please fix the ratio 🙏🏽
Haven’t figured out how yet. That’s why I got the ms Pac-Man countercade. The game just felt better on that machine and it gets the aspect ratio right.
@@OfficeArcade just open retroarch, I believe the option is in the video tab.
@ oh hell yeah. I’ll check that out. Is it on a per game basis? Or all of nothing?
@@OfficeArcade I believe those settings can be for core (all the games of the same system) or per game.
@ awesome! I’ll mess with that today. Thanks again!
Gross arched button layout and lollipop. Give me an upgraded bat top and straight inline 6.
That setup is way too old school for me. But I can see the appeal.
