I miss Vortex so much. Not just riding it, but the sights and sounds that it provided to that area. It's so sad to see that plot of land sit empty. I hope a great new ride is coming soon to take its place that will provide the same ambiance.
Definitely agree. Had to be my most favorite ride at Kings Island. Was there Friday and no great sounds that ride made, and it was visually appealing. I miss that ride. Get rid of Invertigo.
@@dakotamurray7184 Supposedly, which I don't believe at all. Because the Loch Ness Monster at Bush Gardens is older than the Vortex was, as is the Corkscrew at Cedar Point, both CUSTOM BUILT Arrow roller coasters, and THEY are still running. Fucking LOVED the Vortex.
My assumption is that the park 100% is glad they don't have to worry about lawsuits resulting from the structural fatigue that 33 seasons did to this glorious monster. RIP
I grieved Vortex like I had lost a great friend. I loved every second of that beautiful coaster. KI better have something epic in the books to replace such an iconic piece of their history! I believe in them, they'll knock it out of the park with whatever goes in that spot.
Dad first convinced me when I was little to ride this coaster. As a little kid, never been on a looping roller coaster before I was scared. This was the event that led me to doing all the things I 'didn't think I could do' including skydiving. Thank you Vortex
Love to see you guys doing throwbacks, I may not have been around when it opened. But I've been to your park every year I've lived. Thanks for the memories
I loved hearing the sound of the lift hill while working at La Rosa's. Another ride you can see in the video Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal is another ride I miss.
I sure do miss you Vortex! You were my favorite ride at King's Island. Although it's been 24 years since I've been there and rode it I still miss it. I sure do hope something new and exciting goes in that area otherwise I'll be VERY UPSET that Vortex is gone! But I still love King's Island! My favorite (and my home) Park!
Cedar Fair truly knows how to do coasters. It’s sad, that replacement parts such as brakes were no longer available, and so this piece of beautiful work had to be taken down. But, nonetheless, Vortex gave us a great run.
They are available. S&S services arrow attractions since they bought them out. There was no excuse other than they didn't want to keep it. It still had the ridership to where a retrack was possible
One of the few roller coasters I could ride as a big guy that didn't smash me in. Took my then GF, now wife, on it on a first big date kind of thing. She almost left me she hated it that much, I kid you not. 😂 Still my favorite memory of KI. 👍
If any big decision maker at KI reads this...please consider building a bigger, badder, taller, faster, version of the Vortex in the exact same spot...brand new, contemporary technology...but with a similar color scheme and design of the classic ride...like the original Vortex on steroids!! What do you call it? Call it "V2" ...come on, you just know that would be a smash hit!!
I'm still sad that they removed this ride. There is this ride called Blue Ninja that was like vortex and got a full renovation. I wish they had done that to vortex. When I was in Middle School after I moved here from Illinois, There was a theory that the ride was sinking. If that was true then they would follow a similar layout. I hope they do!
Kings island needs to build a new vortex exactly the same in the same spot. Vortex is almost as legendary as the beast. It should be there. I am a little biased vortex was my first big coaster I wanted to ride as a kid and loved it.
They didn't have to remove this ride. If they were to replace the harnessess that were on there with the vest restraints found on Blue Hawk at Six Flags Over Georgia then they would've had a perfectly smooth ride.
I miss the Vortex it was the best coaster there and the Drop was amazing Sad they removed it! I believe it could have went for alot longer and it always has long wait times
Thing is the rides manufacturer Arrow Dynamics is no longer in business so finding parts might have been an issue contributing to the end of its service life.
I like that this park cares about its history!
Well... They did remove it, like it didn't matter at all
Well they preserved it for as long as they could. I think it lasted longer than expected so we should be thankful.
I miss Vortex so much. Not just riding it, but the sights and sounds that it provided to that area. It's so sad to see that plot of land sit empty. I hope a great new ride is coming soon to take its place that will provide the same ambiance.
Or maybe a vortex 2.0

I do too. Both of us are VERY lucky.
Missing the look/sound of an old school arrow mega looper
Gonna be 100% with you KI, wish we were celebrating the 50th WITH Vortex, rather than reminiscing.
Amen! I second that!
I guess they didn't really care for it

I remember going on this ride when I was little with my mom! The ride may be gone but I will never forget the memories on it!!
Me too 🤗❤️ sadly both my mom and Vortex aren't around anymore but they left me with some awesome memories!!
I loved that ride. Bring back something like that.
They should bring back vortex with a floorless version of it

The sound of this ride is probably what I miss most. The lift hill. The breaks. The sound of it going through the loops.
Coneymall doesn’t feel complete without Vortex. Like something is definitely missing. Such a shame that this ride was taken out. One of my favorites.
That's some hallowed ground right there. Looking forward to something special in that spot!
Feel the grip Vortex 😍😍😍😍😍
This is a classic. I was pissed 😡 when Kings Island got rid of it 3 years ago.
Be thankful it lasted as long as it did as other Arrow Mega Looper coasters like Shockwave and Great American Scream Machine did not last as long.

My first looping coaster. Also the coaster that broke my wifes fear of coasters. KI has some BIIIIG shoes to fill there.
The load station was the old Bat load area.. can't put anything except a 5 thrill rating in that spot now.
I regret riding it as much as i did, now i miss it too much
I wish Vortex was still standing. Now there is just an empty space on the land and in my heart for Vortex.

The only ride I wish was still standing is Firehawk. I despised Vortex due to the headache inducing nature of the ride.
@@journeytree Firehawk was a good ride but it was a maintenance nightmare and parts for it were discontinued which is why it left.

Hopefully in the future kings island will build a new roller coaster like the vortex because I never got to ride vortex
Could vortex make a return but just made by a new company?

The reason it left was it reached the end of its service life.
