Motives Matter | Matthew 6:1-18 | Brian Dagen

Is it enough to do right things, or do motives matter? Many of the Jewish religious leaders of Jesus’ day were known for their piety, but those acts didn’t count for much in the eyes of Jesus because the heart-level motives were wrongly directed. Contrary to the example of the religious leaders, Jesus teaches His disciples how true acts of righteousness are to be done. As we explore the next section of the Sermon on the Mount, we will once again see how Jesus is the Master when it comes to exposing the human heart.
