  • Fishing using a CRAZY Bat lure... Can I catch one of the BIG fish that live in these lakes? I also put some of my best lures to work across two different trips, one in autumn and one in Winter. Through every swim I cast the bat first to see if anything would take it, and if there's no bites, I followed up with my normal lures. Let's see how we get on! I also take a look at my new Westin Advent calendar, and have a go with the lures inside.
    I don't often post videos like this, this ones just a bit of fun really! I hope you all enjoyed this video, and if you did please consider hitting that subscribe button. I really appreciate it! Drop a like too if you can, and get in the comments below. Whats the craziest thing you've heard of a bat eating?
    By the way, I've had one of these advent calendars before and they're great fun. They definitely bring back a bit of Christmas magic! If you're looking at picking one up for yourself, this is the premium version!

    Way way too cold for bats buddy. Warm summers evening as it's heading towards dusk will see them out and about hunting insects. That's when the pike are most likely to encounter the real thing and think of them as a food source.
    I accidentally caught a bat while fishing for trout, it took my fly during my back cast.

      They told my pal he'd never walk again after a bike crash but he did after a few years & whilst not climbing down cliffs anymore to go cod fishing these days he gets out regularly to drown some maggots or chucking a lure .With some luck & a lot of determination you'll be the same mate.

    This is an naturalist/ecologist's view. I'm sure a Pike would take a bat in the water, if one got the chance. Occasionally, bats collide with things and end up on the ground. Some, like Daubenton's Bat, specialise in catching insects, just above the water. However, I'd have thought that it's only occasionally a bat ends up in the water. However, as all this is taking part after dark, most incidents would remain unseen, and so no one will really know how regular it is. I'd have thought it more likely in countries with bigger numbers of bats. The more there are, the more likely ones will make occasional mistakes. Although as most of these mistakes would be in the dark, it'd also make it more unlikely a predator, which relies on light, like a Pike, would encounter one. Although I do know Pike feed after dark. Several times I've caught them on maggots at night, in a heavily baited spot.

    • @adventurefishinguk
      @adventurefishinguk  7 місяців тому +1

      Some very good points! Yeah pike are good at hunting in the dark, especially sensing movement and vibrations. If a bat fell in the water and was struggling to get out, I don't imagine a big pike would have any trouble at all taking it!

    I would guess that the bat lure may be more effective in the twilight in summer when bats are normally taking insects from over the water. I must say that I have never seen a bat end up in the water.
