There is an Allett Dealer in Arizona that's selling Allet mowers at a very good price. If you want to check it out you can use this link - www.productsathorizon.com/alle...
Started blowing clippings this year. I always mulch. This has helped greatly
I work as a gardener here in the UK and I really enjoyed this video found it interesting.
Hi Pete, I learned a hard lesson about mowing soft ground. Last year I installed a second water meter just for watering my yard and landscaping. I watered way too much and rutted my whole yard. So now I have too figure out how to level it out without doing a full blown renovation. Live and learn!
Sent this to a couple of my buddies, that were just this week, talking about their struggle to keep up with the grass…great info sir!
Mowing over grown grass today!!! Been raining a bunch and more rain coming. Thank you for the information!!!!
Living here in Grand Cayman, I understand how you have to deal with mowing in the rain. In rainy season we just look for light rain and then hit it. I put in zoysia 3 years ago and I just love it. I keep it at 3 inches and it is so plush. Just have to keep the iguanas from digging holes in it. I have just over 1.5 acres and have to mow once a week and use growth regulator.
Man we just went through a whole month where it was raining almost every single day just enough to prevent mowing without making ruts. It got to a point where I just said "screw it" and made ruts. I absolutely HAD to cut as soon as it was dry enough so my mower wouldn't get stuck in the mud.
Love you Pete! Great video as always! Have a blessed day 💜
Thanks for the info! Much appreciated! Good refresher!
Here in the PNW where it rains 9 or 10 months out of the year, you learn pretty quickly how to mow wet grass. 😂
Amen brother. I always chuckle when people say to only mow dry grass with dry ground. In the PNW I would never mow if I had to wait for dry grass.
@@davidhires7403 exactly 💯 👊🏻
@@davidhires7403 Exactly. “Don’t mow wet grass.” That means we’d have waist high grass in the PNW since the grass rarely gets dry during prime cool season growing season.
You know what we are going to have by the end of the year. Green Boots and pants, gloves not to mention we are going to get wet!
It’s just a good rule of thumb to prevent fungus and bacteria to attack the grass
Hey Pete. Another awesome video, as usual. Thank you so much.
I had a Honda rear-bagger for a long time before selling it off and switching to a manual reel. Living in the PNW, we have our fair share of wet grass conditions, as you can imagine. Eventually I got sick of the very problem regarding build up, etc., that you described, and decided to step out of the box a little. Over the winter one year I did a full-disassembly to isolate the polycarbonate deck off my mower. Then, I low-level sand-blasted the underside, cleaned it with 95%+ isoalcohol, and painted it with a superhydrophobic polyurethane (can't remember what it was called). This wasn't some cheap "deck spray" stuff you pick up at HD. A single rattle-can was like $80. Anyway, wet-grass (and for that matter, *any* grass) sticking to the underside of my deck was never a problem again. Nothing stuck to it. And brother, I mean *nothing* .
That said, the grass still sticks to itself, and there is obviously no way of stopping that. So it still "clumped" (sort of), but didn't clog the deck. In the end the most benefit I got from it was never having to really scrape clean and pressure-wash the deck underside again. Still had to clean the chute and other places I didn't treat a few times a season. I also rotated two sets of blades from Honda on that rig, swapping and sharpening monthly, so I coated them both the same way I did the deck underside. They never needed cleaning either; just sharpening. Not even the chlorophyll from the grass would touch that stuff.
Thank you for putting out the content!
I wanted to thank you for all the great information on your videos, as well as remind you that September 11th is a day every American should remember regardless of how busy or not there schedule is.
Goooooood morning, Pete. Enjoy the weekend!
I agree with your observations about mulching and deck sprays. Great tips.
2nd week of September. Sorry, my OCD requires me to answer your question, lol.
Good morning Pete, you're so lucky you got rain. I'm 50 min east of you and we received 0.09" the whole weekend that was with a 80% chance of rain... pretty sad. Now because my lawn is so dry I have to have it arovated before I seed. Then water it myself because there was no rain last week and non for the next 10 days at least.
I renovated a portion of my turf and seeded the day before this rain got to me in Maryland. The Ryegrass germinated in 4 days and amazingly the Kentucky bluegrass has germinated now in 9 days. I think that initial rain really got me off and running. No fescue in the mix and I'll be mowing here in another 8-10 days. Plan is to keep it at 1.25"
I was originally going to hire out my aeration job this year but kept going back and forth in my mind about doing the job myself in addition to slice seeding. I schedule the job with the professional but rain delayed the job multiple times. In the end I ended up renting an aerator and slice seeder and doing the job myself with the help of a friend. I’d say that rain delayed my plan by about one month.
We haven't had measurable rain in 3 weeks, and have none in the forecast for another 3+ weeks. It's havoc for our overseeding company 😮💨
Blessed weekend to you and yours,
We tend to use a lot of handheld trimmers, even in big areas when it's crazy wet and soft, and then the blowing is an absolute must after mowing. Thanks for the content Pete, great is always
I just took the time to look at your website, nice and orderly way of working!
Using a leaf blower after mowing is also something I always do, my yard is 1600 Square Meters = 17222 Square Feet. It also ensures that flattened grass stands up again. Also the grass looks nicer.
The riding mower a Honda 2417 has a tendency to lose grass here and there, between the collector and the closure.
The only drawback is the Makita and Honda petrol leaf blower which makes the neighbor a bit timid. But in the meantime he has also started to pay more attention to his grass :).
Green greetings.
Thanks Pete Grass is looking great. Can't tell you how many times I got grass clippings left over and I got to whip out blowers to deal with it. Pain in the ass.
Good morning Pete !!
Morning!
O boy time to grab my coffee!
That KBG should darken up after hitting it with some 46-0-0 and cool weather sets in. Neighbor's TTTF looks fantastic.
First Aussie 😁. Pete , great advice . 🤠
Thank you Pete @GCI Turf! I have always pushed off mowing the lawn when it was damp/wet because of what you described. Never thought of using side discharge and blowing off the piles after. I would be interested in any other advice you have for time constrained individuals. My wife and I have a 3 month old and I now barely have the time to mow the lawn for an hour let alone all of the other thing I used to do. My front yard isn't too bad, maybe a little dry from the summer but the back yard has turned into weed city and I feel like I'll never get it looking decent again.
I've got a 4 year old and a 1 year old so I hear you on this. I've mentally broken my yard in to sections and I treat them separately at times and together at times. The front gets most attention and grows the fastest. the side yards less and there rear even less. when I'm really pushed for time I'll run out an mow only the front since the sides and rear can wait a day or two. Then for next time I mow it all. Same goes for Irrigation and fertilizer / chemical applications. Splitting out 2k feet of lawn out of 11k really helps me stay on top of things. It's easy to run out and mow for 15 minutes, less so to find an hour....
@@TheOtherSean Thank you for the response. like you I have been focusing mostly on my front yard but I like you approach at breaking it up even more than I already have. Thanks again, great tips.
Pretty much the complete opposite here on Long Island. My bluegrass is 5 weeks old tomorrow and I barely have an inch in height. Patches are closing but the growth is sooooo slow. I mowed it today on 1.75 just to “wake it up” and hope it takes off
We have monsoon season starting here in New Mexico. Hopefully we have a lot of rain because my lawn isn't looking as bright green as it normally is at this time of year.
Man, it's hard to imagine actually getting rain in the summer. We're in a drought plus we have very dry summers here in northern California. Thanking the Lord for rain in the forecast though!
Amen!
@@jamesa7506 I hope you know this is a scam
@@fusfea I deleted them all. Thanks for telling me sir
@@GCITurf you're welcome Pete!
Rained here in WNC all the dog days of summer
Hey Pete! just wondering if you have seen the new backpack blower from EGO. Thought it would be easier to use then the handheld models
Southwest Ohio, and I have the opposite problem. The moment I plan to put seed down, the weather dries up. No wash out at least, but I get a nice high water bill for the month.
I have always wanted to contact a dairy farmer or a horse guy and ask if they would want the clippings, I would think they would be a nice treat, then I would want to trade off for some manure. Also I wanted to suggest to my fellow tool junkie, the greenworks 80v pro self propelled mower we got a few months back, they are so much better than EGO brand, lots of power and brushless, great mower!
The 25”?? I have it too and love it
Pete I wish I could push mow as fast as you 🤣🤣🤣
I'm getting notifications on UA-cam of your videos by the way.
Yessssirrrrr!!!! Great information!!! #getitdonefellas
If you could pass some rain up here for me I would really appreciate it. I got 2.5 inches of rain total since the end of June. I overseeded, I have 9 sprinklers I am moving around trying to move around and a well that doesn't flow very much, temps still in high 80s, I can't get any rain. North transition zone on Maryland Pennsylvania line. I need mother nature to cut me a break for Pete's sake 🤣🤣. Thanks for the vid sir, always enjoy watching and learning.
Great video, I know what I'm about to say is probably going to be extra work, but it just a thought. Could you have raise the push mower up one notch and went back over in crisscross pattern? If you went north and south, raise the mower then go east and west? Similar what you would do one zero turn mower. Thanks
We are still dry in Oklahoma hasn’t rained in months
Which model Ego blower are you using?
The t-shirt made me subscribe. Jesus is everything indeed. ❤
I'd love some professional input.. I have turf type tall fescue... My question, I don't know the blend used when it was put down, just the type.... If I have some spots that need touched up will using another blend "look" different or does all turf type tall fescue look similar enough you wouldn't notice?
Great video like always brother Pete! I love your shirt and how your always representing our Lord and Savior! God bless you always! 😊✝️
Hey Pete! Love the content but I'm seeing a lack of videos on UA-cam of regrading a lawn that has large high spots as well as low spots. I'd love to see a real pro like yourself knock one of these out!
Hi Pete, my husband and I made the mistake of mowing our GCI tall fescue after it rained and didn't clean up the clippings. We have many brown patches left in our yard, we cleaned up most of it two days later, but the damage was done. What is the best way to fix the brown patches? Can we throw new seed right on top of the dead grass, or should we lay new dirt?
do you bag the grass in your company
You can also hit the bell icon and switch it to all videos
If you were going to push away the rain, how would you go about doing that?
Im in Mr pete 👍
did you mention anything about a giveaway in this video Pete
Not that I know of
Must be nice to cut wet grass... lol. Im cutting crispy bermuda :p
I’m in VA and it will not rain!! Dry as a bone.
Very dry here as well. I filmed this video 2 weeks ago when we finally got some good rain
i like that you talk to us durring the video, was not a fan to the no talk....maybe you were just bussy.... but i watch them anyway,,,lol
Nice shirt! Indeed, our Lord Jesus over everything.
Pete, can you separate out those email lists so that those of us that don't have a problem can unsubscribe from the video notifications?
First!

@@GCITurf that bluegrass is looking 🔥
Mowing a wet lawn is just dumb! It causes more problems then you can imagine! Let it dry and do a double cut if necessary
Dude didn't even realize it was 9/11 😔
I love your videos but you made this for people who are in a hurry. It easily could have been a two minute video starting at the 9 minute mark. Again, great job, great lawn, just a bit wordy for those people on the run, lol.
Your neighbors must get a kick out of you......
Jesus over everything! Amen!
