Thankyou! The front unit is vacant. I'm interested because it has hardwood floors rather than carpet but we have roof rats everywhere! Can u set a bomb for mites in the storage area below and the attic above before moving in (I have severe PTSD from the last infestation)? Also what screen do i use for blocking holes and cracks and how do i install it? Don't get me started on landlord responsibilities! I'm doing it myself.

why use the Victor with a plastic pedal instead of the metal ? Other channels recommend the metal.
It's easy to bend the metal hook to apply different baits such as peanut butter on a piece of cloth/sponge. Sometimes I superglue dog kibble to the petal trigger.
Instead of the Victor M241 battery trap with C batteries, I use the Rat Zapper Ultimate, 4 D batteries.

@@mungox1 there are marginal benefits between the metal and plastic pedal (aka treadle). We like the broad surface of the plastic for more sure kills . Also, when setting a lot of these in a close area, the metal version can sometimes be "too good" ie, they are so sensitive when setting they can go off when bumped. Go with what you feel best using. In the end, its more about the rat and its behavior. Thank you for writing

I used to think that as well but the trick is to put the bait in the bait trough that is right above where the metal arm bar goes in. This way the critter will step on the yellow pad to access the bait, setting off the trap.

Such an import point about humane traps... I'm all for it but unless you are checking in hourly I think a kill trap IS the humane trap...sticky traps and poison are the least humane.

I hear number one steel wool is it good deterrent to keep them out of your house through cracks and Foundation

@@jerryjarvis8095 steel wool can work, especially in dry spots. But if it gets wet it can rust. And rats can grab it and pull at it if they are motivated. A little adhesive helps.
