Vanessa Williams was the first African American Miss America back in 1984. She wowed the judges with her singing prowess. She became a major female vocalist in the 80s/90s and actress. Beautiful singer, pretty underrated
Extremely underrated indeed Samuel. Vanessa is SO MUCH MORE than just a pretty face!!! She's a fantastic actress and a phenomenal singer as well. Like you said her singing prowess can't be denied. I've loved this song since it came out 31 years ago and I love it even more now. Wonderful and magical in every way. Thank you LORD for Vanessa.

The song, "Save The Best For Last", had originally been written for Steve Perry of the rock band Journey. He passed it by. It was then reworked for a female singer and marketed to Bette Midler, Whitney Houston, and Barbra Streisand, who all turned it down. Then, it went to Vanessa Williams and it became her breakaway hit song of 1991 and 1992 and beyond. There is an entire episode of the free podcast, "Where Were You In '92" devoted to this song and features additional inside information and an interview with Vanessa herself. That tells the story of this enormously popular song that resonates to the present.
HBK, you were soooo mesmerized by this beautiful and talented singer. Vanessa’s catalog is immense and beautiful. Her ballads are on another level. I saw her a few years back in concert and she was extraordinary. She’s an underrated singer and actress. Her rise to fame is an example of perseverance. And those beautiful blue eyes will even make a gay man straight. She’s amazing. Checkout “How the years go by”, beautiful rendering and delicious lyrics. Great reaction!
I agree with all that you have said and even though I watched this so many times over the years , you inspired me to watch it mindfully for the first time. That’s when I spotted her expression in the last 2 seconds . Now I’m perplexed. Is it that Mona Lisa phenomena where you can’t tell if she is happy or sad, smiling or giving the remnants of a smile 🤔❤️❤️❤️❤️
Vanessa also has a duet with Brian McKnight that you would probably love as well. It's called "Love Is." Amazing vocals, lyrics, synergy. It has it all.
She's only an 16x Grammy nominated Broadway Superstar. A inspiration to the masses, a living ICON. Beauty beyond belief, other worldly. None of her peers can hold a candle to the breath of Vanessa.
In addition to being a wonderful singer, Vanessa Williams is also a wonderful actress who appeared in major roles in the American TV shows "Ugly Betty," "Desperate Housewives" and "666 Park Avenue," and in the movies "Eraser," "Soul Food," "Dance with Me," "Shaft" and "Johnson Family Vacation" among others.
Great reaction to a beautiful song ❤️ Vanessa's a brilliant actor too - I loved her in her role as Wilhelmina Slater on "Ugly Betty". She was in Desperate Housewives too.
@@darrylmilling2747Yes, that show had been in 1984 and it was the television acting debut for Vanessa Williams. One of the things I love with many of Vanessa Williams' songs is how well the enunciates the lyrics -- you can hear them very clearly, no lazy pronunciations there. So elegant and excellent! 👏🏾👍🏾⭐️
this song is used on the end credits of aussie drag queen road movie priscilla queen of the desert.it tops off a fab soundtrak. loved watching vanessa in desparate housewives and ugly betty!
