why the tape? so the handle doesn't just fall out? versus reaching around and holding it?

Can you tell me how to reinstall the lock cylinder on my driver door cylinder? i was changing driver door handle when i forgot the steps involved for the lock cylinder. So far, no video explains this part of the job yet.
