    Accurascale are very impressive, and are still selling at reasonable prices. There are two other suppliers with superb quality. SLW - Suttons Locomotive Works and Cavalex. SLW is a small company with a very limited range (24s and 25s), and Cavalex are starting to grow with their class 56 sound probably the best sound system / profiles I have ever heard in RTR.
    I have two 66s from Accurascale. The Evening Star and the GBRf Severn Valley. Both superb, except for some vibration at certain frequencies. I have a temporary modification in at the moment. That is to chabge how the large speaker sits into the chassis. Awaiting some feedback from Accurascale on this issue, and I am not the only customer that has picked up on this.

      I saw some Cavalex models up close at the recent exhibition at the NEC and was very impressed. I think Dapol are up there too. I have a class 52 that looks superb, but just falls short with regards to mechanism.

      @Proper_Chuffed  4 дні тому

      An interesting observation Dave, not had issues with the speaker myself but I suppose this is bound to happen. I will keep an eye out and see if something like that crops up after a couple more days of running. Keep well and thanks for stopping by!

    Cracking review and narration inc. film work. Only slight criticism is to maybe only have the sound for the subscribe button once rather than every time it pops up. Maybe I’m biased and don’t like the sound of the whistle used 😂

      @Proper_Chuffed  4 дні тому +1

      You know what, I think you're right! I will definitely change up the whistle. And maybe not make it so frequent, I actually really value this kind of feedback. Thank you ☺️

    Hi, very good review of a loco that Hatton’s designed to take model trains to another level, the issues on their model were poor assembly issues at the factory which were allowed to reach the customers whom were very annoyed, the detailing on this loco are from the Hatton’s tooling which Accurascale have upgraded to an extent, my issue is with the original speaker position in the chassis has been downgraded to fit a lesser speaker which is shame, if you own an original model with the EM2 speaker and Legomanbiffo sound file then you know how awesome it is, the axle box issues look like they’ve been sorted along with the body removal nightmare, it looks a very good model that has its place as the best class 66 on the market to date, if Bachmann upgrade their model which by the way is still very good then we will have to see what happens because once the Accurascale models are sold there won’t be any new ones for years because the quota will be fulfilled, thanks for sharing.

    • @Proper_Chuffed
      @Proper_Chuffed  5 днів тому

      Hey Stormmy, thanks for sharing and for watching, I hear many people saying that the Hattons 66 might have been a big part of their financial downfall? Where do you land on that line of thinking? 🤔

    • @StormmyStormmy
      @StormmyStormmy 5 днів тому

      @@Proper_Chuffed Hatton’s we’re a great company in my book because they made the best detailed class 66 to date, I feel the manufacturing of it was its downfall, Bachmann and Hatton’s were never the same after the ultra detailed model was released, Accurascale didn’t have to do much on it to be fair in my opinion, the smaller speaker compartment is a big no no for me and the lack of dashboard lights is a letdown, the axle box fix still stops the bogie strip down as challenging as it was before, Legomanbiffo sound file is the best in my opinion, I’m not sure if we modellers will ever see the great FEA spine wagons and the Rail Head Treatment train wagons again because the moulding is probably sat around doing nothing, Accurascale could easily do a run of them because they have a good business relationship with Hatton’s, it wouldn’t take forever to use the old moulds to produce those wagons because they are very good indeed, maybe Hatton’s will surprise us and start doing some new products again.

    Ah so you’ve dipped your toes into the waters of the Accurascale diesel loveliness have you?
    A while ago I tried explaining to you how the 37 sound of the Accurascale was a level above the Bachmann Do you see what I mean now? The sound is just superb 👍 Bachmann need to use better speakers to catch up.
    My new 66 will be revealed on my next video I think the Euros is dampening the viewing figures at the minute though, either that or people have had enough of me 🤣🤣🤣 👍
    Brilliant video mate and for once I had some idea about what you were saying as I’m fully clueless of the steam stuff ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ five stars to you 👍 ps as someone else has said those Cavalex are just as good the new 60s will be a treat 👍

      You were quite right Dave, look, I really do still want a 37 from them, but will have to wait for one that really appeals to me 🤣
      As you said, the sound is PHENOMENAL, by no means is Bachmann's sound bad, I just think the low end tones on the Accurascale are much better and more bassy.
      I can't wait to see which one you've decided to go for, I knew it wouldnt be long until you had one!

      @@Proper_Chuffed they really aren’t my era either for the layout or for nostalgia. Some family members have an accurascale Deltic and Class 50 on order so they will hopefully get a run out when they arrive. I’m really tempted by the new batch of Cavalex 56s though. Out next year so there is enough time to save a few pennies. Very tempting …

    Great review on both of these Hilton, currently I’m not going to be getting one of these accurascale 66s because I already have one of the predecessor hattons versions in GBRf intermodal livery which while at first I did experience a couple of issues like the odd axlebox coming off every now and again I persevered with the model and over the years I have owned it it’s actually got to the point where it is a very good model for me, I mainly use it for hauling my rake of 8 Accurascale GBRf IIA Biomass wagons and in the last few years It hasn’t exhibited any issues with it it, I’m now looking at potentially getting it sound fitted, for that reason the minor upgrades that have been made to this are not enough for me to get one of these at the moment, I have a fair few accurascale products myself now but only one of them is an exclusive from them, my one being my Class 92 which originally I didn’t realise was an exclusive until I received it, the are overall a good company, still some things that need to be ironed out but I do like their products, going back to the 66 though as I say it’s not one I’m looking at getting at the moment but maybe in the future if accurascale produce a 66 in a livery that really appeals to me it may become a model that gets added to my collection, would say the Evening Star one is my favourite, to me even though it’s been quite a while now freightliner in orange is still a bit weird to me, I have seen their locomotive in the more familiar green and yellow livery for much longer, great review overall Hilton, keep up the great work

    So here's the thing, Hylton. I had resisted the temptation to buy one of these, as I've drawn the line on modern image locos at the class 59 (this was after drawing a line first at anything introduced after 1970, then 1980 (as I really needed a HST), and then the 59).
    Then I watched Sam's, Euvirail and your reviews, and now just HAVE to have one. BUT it HAS to be Evening Star, and since they are sold out, I just MIGHT be able to keep my £170 in my pocket. Which is probably just as well, as I've already purchased a blue Accurascale 37, and have another in Dutch livery en route, not to mention a green class 55 somewhere in the pipeline.
    Awesome review once again. You REALLY DO now know what you're doing now.... 😉
    PS: Adding the "9F" power classification to the livery was a respectful nod to the original Evening Star 2-10-0 built in 1960.

      @Proper_Chuffed Yeah, rules are there to be broken, I guess...
      The Orange (HNRC) 37 was another one I missed. I opted for the "Dutch" livered example as - being an ex-Pat from South Wales and thus a GWR/BR(W) Region fan - it wears the "Cardiff Canton" depot plaque. At the time, I really couldn't justify buying ANOTHER Accurascale 37, but then I did (a blue, split headcode example) for a very good price at a local exhibition.
