While the touch screen is a bit slow to respond I find that the aircon controls on my HS are so easy to operate. Having it up high is way better than any other vehicle that I drive. Many vehicles have these controls below the touchscreen and you take your eyes off the road to operate them. As for the volume knob our Hilux has a knob yet I never use it - why would you move your hand off the steering wheel when there is a button right where your hand is? PHEV is a great way to get into Ev's. Hopefully govts. wake up and understand that in regional areas they may well be the answer in Australia. EV near home/school/work and petrol for longer drives. Stop putting all of our eggs in one (electric) basket.

Great review! I was in the market for either this or the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV and it all came down to a test drive. The salesman assured me it was a simple software issue, but that non-functioning centre screen was the deal breaker for me..loving the Eclipse Cross eveyday!

Your final summary provides a good assessment of the car. The option of selecting EV mode provides a good economical local run around and the highway acceleration is excellent with the petrol motor engaged. Really hard not to like this car, so I bought one and no regrets at all.

Great report thanks. Nice that you mentioned that so called fuel efficency. Is the battery thermally managed? You should explain exactly how the 1.7l/100km exactly is calculated!

It will use 1.7L for the first 100km if fully charged… after that it will vary depending upon driving conditions… it feels much like a case of tech being in front of standards.
I would like to see a range per tank / battery figure…

@@Dpix1990 I did over 4000km before my first fill, but then winter hit, so only about 1000km to the tank in the extreme cold weather we are having at the moment.

Very interesting. But with no spare wheel, that immediately is a no for me. Given the market they're trying to reach here is Australian, I don't understand why manufacturers don't provide a spare.

Please please please avoid MG EVs \ PHEVs like the plague! We have had nothing but trouble with our MGZS EV and now have to get it written off. MGs so called warranty isn’t worth the paper it is written on!

You'll find this shits all over a Toyota in terms of tech, features and comfort . study the mechanical breakdown of the Toyota hybrid drive train then look at the specs of MG phev it's far more advanced But I know you'll never convince the Toyota sheep's that that never look outside the box
