It was honestly amazing. Just the one time in yugioh that I think the japanese intro beat it. Knotlamp did a good job with last train. It fit so perfectly
@@sapphic.flower The anime itself took alot of the characters voices and made them either goofy or flat. Sanji for example sounded like if Big the Cat went through puberty, Nami sounded phoned in half the time and they censored a good amount of content (obviously to make it kid friendly but it still damped some the action)
please you better be kidding that opening literally almost made me stop watching one-piece if I didn't know there was a Japanese version that was pretty decent I would of literally stopped at the first arc because of that Rap song thingy?? tbh the only English opening that I liked was pokemon and maybe yugioh GX (get your game on) every other one the Japanese version was so much better man
I fondly recall Littlekuriboh tearing the lyrics a proverbial new one because it helps set up how dumb the series is. (nothing wrong with dumb, tho. the entire premise is dumb, might as well go all the way)
The English Sailor Moon theme song is a goddamn anthem. There’s a whole generation of millennials who ran around as children, Moon Tiara Magicking their enemies into oblivion while singing that song and getting into heated arguments over whose turn it is to play which Sailor Scout.
@Noah Miller the English dub version of sailor moon censored a lot of stuff, the japenese version isn't even that bad I'm the first place too. Sailor Moon has zero naked people :-|
You kidding right?, that song is fucking attrotious, it's like a freaking TMNT song, in latinamerica we had an almost direct translation of the original japanese Moonlight Dendetsu and it's a damn good song without needing to shout what she does every night, some comic book and child tv tropes of the american tv make me cringe, specially most of the voice actors, it's like every character is a power ranger, they're all teenagers with attitude.
@@javierortiz82 I can see why people don't like the original dub, especially if they didn't grow up with it, but I'm not kidding. I loved it. My 6-year-old self responded 100% the way that Dic intended young American audiences to respond to a foreign cartoon that, frankly, there was probably very little market for. Serena was my hero, and she still is, theme song and all. When I was older I watched the original Japanese language anime with English subs, and I love it for different reasons. But it doesn't discount the value the Dic dub had for those of us who watched it as children.
Dubbers: **Dubbs the opening** Everyone: ew why? I liked the Japanese. Dubbers: **doesn't dub the opening** Everyone: *signs, I miss the English dubbed openings..
You can’t give them what they want, cause they don’t know themselves. You know what I’m willing to bet it is: People who grew up enjoying dubbed openings miss them, and people who grew up on subs prefer them. It’s the classic battle that will last until the end of time. Sub vs Dub. It will continue on until everyone eventually decides that the true answer is: who cares as long as we get our anime?
There's gotta be a reason why I can still remember the Lyrics to the english Shaman King Opening even though I've not seen the show in over 10 years haha
Hehehe that the same thing facing😂😂😂 its over 10 years for tho... I luv the Shaman King opening and wud sing it word for word as a kid so I guess that why I cnt forget it so easily
CHILLIN OUT WITH THE CREW IN THE SCHOOL YARD FINDIN' TROUBLE, NEVER LOOKIN TOO HARD BACK IN CLASS THEY NEVER TAUGHT US THIS SOME THINGS YOU GOTTA LEARN, HIT OR MISS Some USA openers are BANGERS
Also something to note from my younger years that I recall- The working in of music in Dragon Ball movies in the USA dubs are insane. The metal music in the Broly movies really give the entire movie a whole different feel.
Anyone remember just how absolutely "4Kids" the Sonic X OP was? Talk about repetitive. But after all these years, it plagues me every now and then. GOTTA GO FASTER, FASTER, FASTERFASTERFASTER!!!
Not even just the intro. Beyblade had a fire soundtrack. "Never Gonna Take Me Down" "Switchblade" "Heavyweight Generation Beyblade" All these sounds went hard as fuck back in the day. We may have had to deal with the monster that was 4Kids back in the 90s and 2000s, but anime music had a different kind of original personality back then.
I genuinely agree that the ( "Shaman King" ) opening is one of the best ever. It as stuck with me, even as pure potential, asking the question "What can we do if we believe completely in ourselves? How far can we steer our course when we dig our heels in and try out best for others?"
@@chertikinamoto there is no Japanese "dub" A dub is a copy and in animation and film it's a different language the original is the sub and I never said it was the English dubs opening
I think a lot of us rag on 4kids too much. You can complain about their dubbing and censoring all you want but the fact is many of us were introduced and familiarized to anime because of 4kids. 4kids exposed Western audiences to anime and there is a very real possibility that anime would not be as popular as it is today if 4kids had not transformed shows like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh into household names.
I can't tell you how excited I was when my favorite digimon season was mentioned. The music gave me chills and brought back memories of skipping school just to catch another episode. I also can't tell you how disappointed I was to hear Geoff call it the worst season of the bunch...
If your referring to frontier no it’s not the worst that honor belongs to everything that came after it at least in terms of the anime, Frontier certainly has flaws that hold it back but it’s a got alot of good things about it too and those things make it pretty good to go back and watch.
Jeff spreading his shit taste as usual. The Japanese opening is charming on it's own right. Kirby is suppoused to be cute and cool at the same time, he doesn't need to be westernised to be "cooler". Let the pink ball be cute.
@@MalevolentFae this has nothing to do with Geoff. I've always loved the American Opening. And I'm sure if I listen to the Japanese more it will grow on me.
@@MalevolentFae where is the big push to westernize anime that you seem to think is happening? Also when was the focus of Kirby his cuteness? Obviously we all know Kirby is cute but the focus has always been Kirby defending dreamland while being cute, I have no problem with the cute opening but the Right back at ya opening just fits the monster of the week show style better.
Kirby has always been depicted to be "more cool" in western markets. Read more at "censored gaming" for those changes. I get it, you want to emphatize "fun" with the new funky theme, but the new catchphrase "Right back at ya"? Ugh.... *yaa yo* to you too.
h3nder The one thing I didn’t like about 4Kids doing Yu-Gi-Oh! was that it was so dumbed down that people only see it is for kids, even though every series is filled with Death, torture, psychological Horror, PTSD, etc
“Kids show” Mmm I personally don’t like Yu-Gi-Oh being called a kids show because that’s really only the dub. I mean the original Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh is targeted for teens and older. It’s more mature than people realize because most people only saw the dub. Which took out a lot of stuff. ESPECIALLY Toei’s Yu-Gi-Oh... that is in no way for children.. 👀
I remember Inuyasha having some really good endings. That ferris wheel man!! Also, Naruto switched back to the Japanese openings/endings so i could enjoy "Go!" by Flow (Fighting Dreamers), and some other great things.

Shaman King's opening was so epic that at one point I imagined that at the end of the series, they would play the OP at the end of the last episode and they would just stretch out the end of it more than the original so it would just be "SHAMAN KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGG!" And that's it and you would see Yoh doing whatever and end!
I clicked on the video just because you had Medabots in the thumbnail, and then i realize you just used some footage without addressing the op. Man, i feel clickbaited
I dont know all of it just remember "its time to rrrrooolll battle" wish we got the other medabot games than the one rpg and battle game i guess the other rpg on gamecube but all those 3ds games fans could of been playing 😢
I went down a Google rabbit hole trying to remember the name of Medabots because of that thumbnail. Thank God for you my friend. Man that RPG when I was a kid was the shit.
I just finished watching Digimon: Data Squad, and honestly, when I first heard it I found it pretty generic too and "meh".... but when you're binge watching, the more you hear it, you go from "meh it's okay", to downright singing it outloud "NEVER SURRENDER! NEVER BE OUTDONE!" every time it plays lol.
I completely forgot about that show, I freaking loved it as a kid. I think I also liked that the main character was voiced by the same guy who voiced Axel in Kingdom hearts, and they made a reference to it in the show
I still gotta find the other seasons as i only saw the first season or so aired on a channel parents had, but i always remember the theme thinking about the show.
Loved the GX and 5DS openings. The 1st season of Beyblade's English opening, Spider Riders theme, Digimon Frontier, Magical Doremi, and the Cardcaptors theme. Also, the We Are English dubbed opening by Vic Mignogna is AWESOME! I like the Japanese opening of Ouran High School Host Club better. Also, I love Yugioh's Music To Duel By music cds from McDonald's, like Time to Duel, One Card Short, and No Matter What. Also, is it just me, or does the Canadian opening of Dragonball GT sound like: 1. David Bowie sang it, and #2, does it sound like the Dragonball Z Kai theme Dragon Soul?
Rogue C There’s a big debate in Japan over Dubs and Subs for shows like King of the Hill , The Simpson’s, Rick and Morty, etc.. I’m pretty sure they have the English opening debate as well.
Also I love that it wasn't only anime. Code Lyoko was originally a French cartoon that got turned into an American cartoon and got an awesome English opening.
O-Ban Star Racers is an almost entirely overlooked gem of French-Japanese collaboration (it might be the complete lack of noses. I know that stopped me from watching it when I was younger) that had an absolute banger of an English OP as well.
Chelsea Day I missed that show so much. It's been 11 years. Back when I was 7 yr old I saw my cousin watching this, I never told him what he was watching. I later found out the name and as soon as I went home. I went straight into xfinity on-demand and watched ever episode there was.
I'll admit, looking back the giant foreheads and overall art style were pretty damn weird, but DAMN do I love it. The original story, the way they covered romance, the strong characters, it was all great. I need to watch it all again
I watched Code Lyoko every day after school in 3rd grade and was ecstatic to find out that the official english dub put the whole series on UA-cam for free.
What are u gonna do? The odds are stacked against you Back against a wall Gotta give it your all This is the final stand The powers in your hand Two worlds collide! On the inside! You gotta fight for what's right Before its gone gone gone This is Bakugan!
The English Yugioh Openings are my childhood. I prefer them for the og series, gx 5ds and zeal but for arcV I prefer the Japanese openings especially the 2nd and 4th one
i chocked when i seen the uncensored version for first time, yap some of those episodes are never going to happen or get censored, i was expecting some certain things but wasn't expecting that much i know culture differences and such so it doesn't bother me at all just ya wasn't expecting that much nudity.
English Openings are entertaining. Either genuinely or accidentally. Pokemon, Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Bakugan had Rocking openings. But Hamtaro was good... With Rose tinted glasses
Thank you Bryce I watched this video and thought of an opening that, the anime he didn’t list and I was not gonna go to sleep until I figured it out and you said bakugan and I knew it was the ONE so I liked your comment and then listened to the song and finally a genuine smile came to me and now Im back sharing this with you!! Cheers man! Holy shit what a moment!
I highly recommend looking in Dragon balls z Arabic OP it's ridiculously good and fit the show perfectly seriously look up the Arabic OP for Dragon balls z it's beautiful.
Dang, I didn't realize how much I missed these. I've been noticing lately, most of the Japanese openings I've seen to recent anime seasons have been unbearably boring--often, they consist of a whole lot of generic action scenes with bland, forgettable rock forced over them. There's no vision and no love in them. Look, for example, at early One Piece openings, vs. new One Piece openings. The early ones are full of emotion and stick in your heart; the new ones feel like nothing. One thing you didn't mention that I also completely miss: the translations of the music that used to accompany Japanese openings when anime played for English audiences. Those translations, scrolling along with the music, always added a magical depth to even a boring opening. And when the Japanese was written out in English letters alongside the translations? Fantastic! Younger me was thrilled to pay attention to these translations and begin recognizing Japanese words and sentence structures.
Your sudden mentioning of Shaman King gave me a nostalgia attack. Time to go rewatch Yoh getting his soul torn from him as he screams in bloody agony-... again.
Ikr, I think I’ve seen it before, but it was on a dvd with tmnt, kirby, and a few others in a giant crossover special. I now definitely need to watch ALL of Shaman King
"If you don't catch yourself singing the Yu-Gi-Oh GX theme while doing mundane everyday activities, something's gotta be wrong with you." Little Kuriboh Not the exact quote, but I couldn't remember it perfectly.
Miles The Man My excuse is that the only time I watched it was when I was little and stumbled on an episode where they had this sort of zombie plot going on. That’s the only time I ever watched GX.
I can't speak for English speakers since I'm Mexican, but growing up, we got some amazing openings. Most of them were the original versions dubbed in Spanish, and we loved them. Except Pokemon, its opennings were the English version dubbed in Spanish.
I AM ALSO MEXICAN. but the spanish versions of English versions of the Pokemon Openings were still awesome. Also ZEXAL's 1° opening was good in spanish......but Arc-v's and Dragon ball super's 2° opening.............we don't talk about that. espeially the later (I SWEAR the singer's voice is breaking while doing DBS opening 2)
Tokyo Mew Mew may have had a terrible dub thanks to 4kids, but the opening "Team Up" is still a banger, along with the group transformation theme "Animal Instinct."
I sang along with those songs every. single. time. I watched the show. And no one could forget... WE GOT THE ANIMAL INSTINCTS. NOTHING CAN STAND IN OUR WAY
Specially jetix and Toonami I mean toonami still around but it's not as good as before, or just Saturday morning cartoons in general I miss him so much😢😪
We still have Toonami, thankfully. 4Kids still exists. Now its a subsidiary of Konami, amusingly enough. Jetix is Disney XD now, but admittingly it's not the same.
4kids asked people to vote on 7 songs that could be the 5d's song. I was 7 and a lot of people picked this song, but there were 2 other choices that could've worked. So glad they did!
The fact that he called it "the worst season of Digimon" makes me mad because seriously?? Has he seen Xros Wars?? Has he seen Data Squad?? The only thing that had Adventure 02 going for it was the coattails of the original Adventure it was riding on. And still, I enjoyed it. And don't even get me started on his misinformed Beyblade dub theme review. The original English dub soundtrack for Beyblad won against Pokemon back in the day for the catchiest dub soundtracks title.
@@theonlyhikaru what is wrong with Xros wars and Data squad? Personally I like both more than Frontier because some seasons like Adventure 01/02 and Frontier give all the importance to only leader and his rival but Data squad give all 4 main characters mega evolution plus burst mode, Xros wars start with something new I like Taiki as much I like Taichi, he is really smart, athletic and great leader compare to all the previous heroes. they introduce new concept Digixros
The Original song is soooo iconic! Also “We will be heroes” from DP is just amazing. Honestly Pokemon has had great soundtrack throughout its entire series
For some reason I got stuck up in almost saying their were only 3 real openings but then I realized how little I grew up with beyblade and watched the original when I was 12
I genuinely loved the dubbed Pokémon and original YGO (I never watched past the ones where Yugi was the protagonist) openings. Weirdly enough, I worked at a toy store in the past year or so, and literally no one who was buying Beyblades knew an anime even existed. I think the toys have eclipsed the anime to become their own thing at this point.
Man, most of these I legitimately love but GX just sent me to the precipice of my awkward middle school years and sent some deep chills down my spine 😂
Digimon wasn't a Pokemon knock off. It was actually introduced by hasbiro to sell toys just like transformers. And it was introduced about half a year before Pokemon in Japan
Its not a knockoff of Pokemon, true, (Well, not fully), but Digimon was the one that came out later. Red/Green came out in 96 while the Digimon virtual pet device, the first Digimon thing, was in 97, the same year as the Pokemon anime.
@@JustinB6699 Feels unlikely that Digimon was only in development for a yr. So I doubt they copied them they probably just had similar ideas. Pokemon is probably not even the first collect creature game
@@Shadowrose54321 I'm not implying that Digimon was copying Pokemon with that. The Digimon virtual pet device was 'inspired' by Tamagotchi, and, yeah, that was made a year after that. Well, months actually. Tamagotchi was Nov 96 and Digimon was June 97. And I'm not saying that it is a knock off of Pokemon in anyway anymore since a lot of it's features that I thought it got from Pokemon by the time the anime came out in 99 (monsters fighting and the growing up/evolution aspect) was originally there, I've come to learn. Though I have no doubt it was trying to get some of that Pokemon craze money.
@@xeryd6037 my dude. Thats like saying Bakuga was a rip off of beyblade because it was made by ex beyblade empolyees. They ain't ripping off pokemon. They just part of a genre that pokemon started.
@@cakehatcolt5969 that just sounds like rewording the fact that its a blatant knock off. Its just good business. Pokemon found success so there was a boom in monster pal anime. Just like in 2009 call of duty modern warfare got a big money boom. People wanted in on that. so a whole bunch of people rushed out a whole bunch of shooters.
I thought I was the only one who felt the same way about that song. I would go as far as putting it above the original and Johto Journeys and everyone would call me crazy for it.
For the German dub of Digimon they used the same instrumentals as in the Japanese openings, thus they are pretty good. Also calling Digimon a Pokemon knockoff is really far fetched.
I will never get over that fact that so many Americans call many shows "Pokémon Rip-/Knock-offs". It must have to do with marketing. I can not envision any other reason that makes sense. Never mind Digimon as a comparison, they do it to so many others, too. Monster Rancher is also one they frequently lob into the same bucket. Did those franchises piggyback off each other? For sure, but they started very differently. Calling Digimon a Pokemon Knock off is comparable to calling GoT a Budget LotR. -.-
@@Jay-hb2mu I used to buy the CDs of the German openings/endings. I love all digimon songs (they translated all soundtracks 😍) one piece, Pokémon, detective Conan ... I feel nostalgic now
Actually, after getting super annoyed with people constantly calling Digimon a "Pokémon Knock off", I decided to look into the history of Digimon, and calling it a "Tomogatchi Knock Off" would be far more accurate because, well, it IS. They originally made Digimon as these little digital pets in Tomogatchi-like devices because, back then, Tomogatchi were marketed towards girls and they thought "What if we made some for boys?", and then they sorta just,,, kept making stuff for Digimon, until it turned into a video game and anime and the rest is history. Digimon didn't really have anything to do with Pokemon, they just had unfortunate timing.
Honestly the German OPs for so many different series delivered so much. All digimon OPs s1-4, Gundam Wing, Monster Rancher, etc. I still come back to them sometimes.
I've got a weird relationship with this topic. German anime openings were almost always based on the original Japanese songs, just with translated lyrics. So whenever a discussion about 'Dub Anime OPs' comes up, I can't participate, since English OPs are so different from what I got as a kid back then. And the translations were really GOOD, the singers were competent and really made the songs their own. I can still hear the German theme songs from all my favourite childhood shows in my head, and whenever somebody plays the English OP to discuss it, it just feels so foreign. Take the English Digimon OP - I had a German version of Butterfly to compare it to, so when I first heard "Digimon, Digital Monsters, Digimon are the Champions!" I almost physically recoiled. You haven't felt confusion in your life unless you watched your first subbed episode of a childhood anime and heard the same OP but suddenly it has Japanese lyrics. It's the oddest thing.
CrimsonSali man the German openings might have the best of both worlds. Most of them were faithful but (specially the digimon ones) were even bette pr then origia
Don't forget that the German dub of Digimon had different versions of the title themes, for use as an insert song. And is there anything more hype in shonen anime than using the OP as an insert song? I didn't think so!
The theme songs hooking the kids were 100% true. The ENTIRE reason I got into YuYu Hakusho and Kenshin was because of their intros around the time I was watching Toonami or Adult Swim in anticipatien for Inuyasha and Zoids and Pokemon. Also Hamtaro's intro and outro was like half the reason I watched the show. I cannot tell y'all how much I danced with that adorable hamster during the credits lol. If I could sing along to a song in the show I was ALL OVER it, and I wore my Pokemon 2BA Master casette and YuGiOh CD OUT lol. I really miss being able to sing along to my anime songs and finding an english version of a song you like can be hard. I'd prefer them coming back rather than just doing what I do now is putting them all in a playlist and going "MY SOUL UNDERSTANDS!"
Nah I totally get the Hamtaro thing. It's a definite acquired taste and I was in the perfect demographic to enjoy the hell out of it at the time so it's no wonder I like it so much XD I was hoping to see Freckles too! It's one of those openings that's just a tad misleading. You watch it and think you're getting a fun peppy romance thing and you definitely are, ya know, when Kenshin isn't struggling with his inner demons and people aren't literally being slaughtered XD
I still get goosebumps when I hear the OP's from "Mew Mew Power" and "Digimon Tamers". "Through the Night" (from "Key the Metal Idol") is amazing, as is Nicole Oliver's cover of "Galaxy in My Hand" (same series). I could listen to a compilation of English intros and outros (with the full songs, not just 10 seconds of them) and fall into a trance of nostalgic euphoria....
My fav dub anime openings: FMA brotherhood (Equivalent Exchange), Tower of God, Pokémon first season, Medabots, Digimon first season, Yugioh Duel Monsters, etc
The whole western soundtrack of Beyblade is miles better than the japanese version. The JP soundtrack is bland while the western soundtrack has quite a few cool songs
I've been watching anime since the early 90's and one of my favorite openings of all time is still the English version of Freckles from Rurouni Kenshin. It's a bright, poppy song that manages to be simultaneously cheery and melancholy, and as the intro to an often dead-serious anime about a former assassin samurai, it makes no sense and also somehow fits it perfectly. Plus, they did an absolute bang up job of making it sound almost exactly like the Japanese version while still making perfect sense. I love that shit.
People can shit on 4Kids all they want for the way they handled shows like One Piece, but you can NEVER say they weren't one of the biggest reasons behind Pokemon becoming a monster in the West. The voice actors, localization team and music team just understood Pokemon. By the Advanced Generation, Pokemon had a legitimately good dub with great theme songs. Longtime fans will always agree that the show straight up lost its soul after the 8th season with the changing of the staff and voice actors. Thanks for the memories 4Kids. +kazy wazzy I hate to admit it, but you're right. A LOT of English Ani Openings are sloppily put together and flat out bad, but there were some pretty good ones among them.
I miss 4Kids actually and especially these openings! I still sing along to them to this day and memorized all their lyrics, especially One Piece, Shaman King, and Ultimate Muscle's English OP lyrics. And I still love singing Card Captor's theme song (not 4Kids, but man, that Card Captor's theme, one of my fav of all-time), yep CC's English OP def got me into the show. Oh man, you're so right about Mon Colle Knights, that opening was so forgettable but the anime I enjoyed. And damn, I miss Monster Rancher, such a good anime... gotta just say, out of all these monster-based shounen-ais, it's Digimon > Monster Rancher > Pokemon for me.
@@joel7342 ya it worked for marketing (I had my parents buy me the toys too lol) since kids still liked it, but looking back at it now, it was a really weird show and it's one of the lowest rated anime on myanimelisth haha
Are you kidding? they'd airbrush over the injuries to remove the red/purple and just claim it stuns his arm for a while. Then cut out all the scenes where they talk about the limitation of injuring himself, up until he learns full cowling and then just have him say "Now I can use One For All without breaking my limbs in 30 places" just to make sure we confuse everyone. Oh and Shiguraki doesn't disintegrate people, he just makes them disappear.
I unashamedly love the One Piece rap. And most of the One Piece English openings. In regards to the best Pokémon intro, the first will always be an anthem to the generation, but the opening of the movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew is a fantastic rendition of Advanced Battle’s theme that I can’t find to purchase anywhere and I lost my dvd of the film so I can’t just do an audio recording at home. I’m a little disappointed. And I just wanna day that I never got super into YuGiOh GX, but I still kinda miss it. From what I remember it was a decently interesting school anime. Side note- does anyone remember Chaotic? Along the lines of YuGiOh or Bakugan?
Oh goodness you're so innocent. Dig down, to the part of you that liked one piece. Muster your best pirate impression. Go youtube, look up the opening to lucario & the mystery of mew, copy its URL. Google "youtube video downloader & converter online" & click the 1st non ad result. Paste the URL & download it. If the video is just of the song & the program allows it, convert to mp3 right there. or If it doesn't start or end at the right part, download the video, load it into MS movie maker, cut it to the right length, export it, then convert it. Congratulations. You've got your ungettable song. & You're a pirate. Luffy would be so proud. And if you feel that bad about not paying for it, send me $1.
Chaotic was the most underrated show and game ever. It didnt really take off here in the U.S. but it was very popular in the U.K. I still have all my chaotic cards
In Latin America we most of the time got a rough translation (or a very similar sentiment) to the original japanese openings and endings and we also keep all the OST. We were blessed.

Not gonna lie, I love that One Piece intro!
I get why it has so much hate... But I don't care, it's a banger!
It's the one good part of that redubbing that 4kids.
Why do people hate it??
@@sapphic.flower The anime itself took alot of the characters voices and made them either goofy or flat. Sanji for example sounded like if Big the Cat went through puberty, Nami sounded phoned in half the time and they censored a good amount of content (obviously to make it kid friendly but it still damped some the action)
please you better be kidding that opening literally almost made me stop watching one-piece if I didn't know there was a Japanese version that was pretty decent I would of literally stopped at the first arc because of that Rap song thingy?? tbh the only English opening that I liked was pokemon and maybe yugioh GX (get your game on) every other one the Japanese version was so much better man
its a absolute banger!!!
Yugioh GX's opening sounds like the dying screams of the 90s
I like it
Oh yeah of course it does... but I don’t really hear anyone defending it so maybe everyone already agrees with that.
However I was yet to reach that point in the video so... guess I was wrong.
At least the ZeXaL op is good in dub.
I fondly recall Littlekuriboh tearing the lyrics a proverbial new one because it helps set up how dumb the series is.
(nothing wrong with dumb, tho. the entire premise is dumb, might as well go all the way)
Still good
The English Sailor Moon theme song is a goddamn anthem.
Sailor Moon has zero naked people :-|
Fuck the 90s dub with a rusty chainsaw
You kidding right?, that song is fucking attrotious, it's like a freaking TMNT song, in latinamerica we had an almost direct translation of the original japanese Moonlight Dendetsu and it's a damn good song without needing to shout what she does every night, some comic book and child tv tropes of the american tv make me cringe, specially most of the voice actors, it's like every character is a power ranger, they're all teenagers with attitude.
@@javierortiz82 thank you.
Dubbers: **Dubbs the opening**
Everyone: ew why? I liked the Japanese.
Dubbers: **doesn't dub the opening**
Everyone: *signs, I miss the English dubbed openings..
When you forget about sailor moon:
Both, obviously. :P
The original teen Titans had English op in serious episodes and Japanese op in funny episode
People are never happy
You can’t give them what they want, cause they don’t know themselves.
You know what I’m willing to bet it is: People who grew up enjoying dubbed openings miss them, and people who grew up on subs prefer them.
It’s the classic battle that will last until the end of time. Sub vs Dub.
It will continue on until everyone eventually decides that the true answer is: who cares as long as we get our anime?
There's gotta be a reason why I can still remember the Lyrics to the english Shaman King Opening even though I've not seen the show in over 10 years haha
In germany we got many german intros but kept the shaman king intro. I love it. Smash hiz
We both know the answer to that my friend, you left the show but the show never left you.

Anyone remember just how absolutely "4Kids" the Sonic X OP was? Talk about repetitive. But after all these years, it plagues me every now and then. GOTTA GO FASTER, FASTER, FASTERFASTERFASTER!!!

We don't talk about that Jetex op.
I love the 4Kids Sonic X opening.
Japanese version had lyrics like "Inside! Outside! Go, Sonic!" to make you remember *that* part of the fanbase.
the european intro is terrrrrrrrrible, but gotta go fast is pretty good.

I honestly liked them. Sure 4kids was dumb to do unnecessary censoring and all but at least the openings were pretty fun in my opinion ^^
Some of their openings*
YES EXACTLY
"Gotta Go Fast" from Sonic X is one of the best dub openings ever. It's a certified banger!
Shaman king too
tell that to the french people who got the original dubbed in french instead of GOTTA GO FAST
that vocalist absolutely nailed the word "BEYBLADE!"
*LET IT RIP*
*fucking insane guitar rift*
Not even just the intro. Beyblade had a fire soundtrack.
"Never Gonna Take Me Down"
"Switchblade"
"Heavyweight Generation Beyblade"
All these sounds went hard as fuck back in the day. We may have had to deal with the monster that was 4Kids back in the 90s and 2000s, but anime music had a different kind of original personality back then.
@@SnowyWolborg don't forget swing low.

Issue is, if they had to censor them that much, maybe they weren't really meant for kids. Plus, censoring death with a hell of eternal suffering...

I also can't tell you how disappointed I was to hear Geoff call it the worst season of the bunch...
Agreed
If your referring to frontier no it’s not the worst that honor belongs to everything that came after it at least in terms of the anime, Frontier certainly has flaws that hold it back but it’s a got alot of good things about it too and those things make it pretty good to go back and watch.
Calling frontier the worst in the series is insane when xros wars/fusion exists.
This was my first time hearing Kirby Right Back at ya's Japanese OP...
I'm disappointed
Ukulele Skye same lol
Jeff spreading his shit taste as usual. The Japanese opening is charming on it's own right. Kirby is suppoused to be cute and cool at the same time, he doesn't need to be westernised to be "cooler". Let the pink ball be cute.

Kirby has always been depicted to be "more cool" in western markets. Read more at "censored gaming" for those changes. I get it, you want to emphatize "fun" with the new funky theme, but the new catchphrase "Right back at ya"? Ugh.... *yaa yo* to you too.

Mmm I personally don’t like Yu-Gi-Oh being called a kids show because that’s really only the dub. I mean the original Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh is targeted for teens and older. It’s more mature than people realize because most people only saw the dub. Which took out a lot of stuff.

Digimon frontier was my favorite opening outta of all of them when I was a kid. I just loved the theme songs from the anime.
Shaman King's OP is so epic that the Romanian dub did a localized cover of it instead of using the Japanese one. Just a fun fact.
Exactly that happened in the first episode of the Higurashi remake and it was just as hype
Battle Spirits did the same thing for their shows on UA-cam, where the 1st episodes had the opening themes at the end of them.
I clicked on the video just because you had Medabots in the thumbnail, and then i realize you just used some footage without addressing the op. Man, i feel clickbaited

Digimon Frontier was hands down one of my favorite shows as a kid. It was so freaking good.
In other news I think I need to rewatch it.
Right, I was like, um excuse me, ill knock you off that fucking idea that its a knockoff of pokemon.
That hip hop style that was made for so many anime dubs were dope. The up beat music always had me pumped for every episode

Thats different the Pokemon English themes are grandfathered in. People would riot if they stopped making them.
Just realized that the American Kirby OP is just proof that we can't escape "American Kirby is Badass" syndrome.
Uh, because he is badass
He's the name you should know
The original Pokemon English opening actually rocks. Fight me.
Ngl I think it's the best. I haven't watched it in years and I still remember the lyrics
I kinda prefer the X and Y cover version. But I will not deny the greatness of the original
The Original song is soooo iconic! Also “We will be heroes” from DP is just amazing. Honestly Pokemon has had great soundtrack throughout its entire series
Pokemon johto journey’s tho. Or Unbeatable from the advanced era
Nobody is going to fight you on that dude
I really liked the English Beyblade openings especially the metal fury one :)
For some reason I got stuck up in almost saying their were only 3 real openings but then I realized how little I grew up with beyblade and watched the original when I was 12
my confusion when I watched beyblade in america compared to korea
Ohkay... hearing the first few seconds of the YuGiOh theme should not have made me tear up the way it did. GOOD JOB PANDERING TO MY NOSTALGIA! Fuck.
It's time to d-d-d--d-d-ddd-DUEL!
Holy shit I loved 5ds, that intro just hit me with so much nostalgia
Yu Yu Hakusho still had one of the best English opening!
Samurai champloo too!
Yu yu hakusho and champloo are my favorites
Smile Bomb is thus far the ONLY Opening.. I. Don't. Skip.
Pure sacrilege if I do.
Exactly
That song is legendary.
YYH is the king of English op
Honestly I thought he was just referencing the fact that a lot of kids dismissed Digimon as a Pokémon knockoff
How come everyone goes on the whole Digimon Vs Pokemon nockoff discussion but nobody ever mentions them all coming years after Shin Megami Tensei?
I’ll always be triggered by someone calling Digimon a Pokémon knockoff.
Ignorance my man, Ignorance. 😪
It was made by pokemon ex employees tho
@@xeryd6037 that doesn't make it a knock-off though
@@xeryd6037 my dude. Thats like saying Bakuga was a rip off of beyblade because it was made by ex beyblade empolyees. They ain't ripping off pokemon. They just part of a genre that pokemon started.
@@cakehatcolt5969 that just sounds like rewording the fact that its a blatant knock off. Its just good business. Pokemon found success so there was a boom in monster pal anime. Just like in 2009 call of duty modern warfare got a big money boom. People wanted in on that. so a whole bunch of people rushed out a whole bunch of shooters.
POKEMON ADVANCED BATTLE "UNBEATABLE" OH MY GOD! The amount of HYPE in the first 5 seconds in that song just make me feel UNBEATABLE!!!
Seriously. "Unbeatable" is like god-tier opening music for me. The song is so good and how they edited the animation to it is top notch.
So true
I thought I was the only one who felt the same way about that song. I would go as far as putting it above the original and Johto Journeys and everyone would call me crazy for it.
Unbeatable is one of the best Pokemon ops

Y'know I keep hearing about this German dub that I'm actually kinda curious about it.
Can you put a couple of links to some cause now I'm really curious.
I love the German OP of Digimon Data Squad it's the one i grew up with
@@vasylpark2149 just look it up on YT.
There are even multilingual versions so you can compare different languages ^^
Don't forget that the German dub of Digimon had different versions of the title themes, for use as an insert song. And is there anything more hype in shonen anime than using the OP as an insert song? I didn't think so!
0/10 didn't talk about the Shaman King Op enough.
0/10 talked over the best part
You lost me at Hamtaro, but the rest is pretty much my own experience as well. I was hoping Geoff would've used a clip of Freckles/Sobakasu.

You Yu Hakasho's opening is by far the best ENGLISH opening in anime .
