I have been watching your videos for several years now and that is the only time I've made a tip to help operate the loader. I worked at a sand and gravel company and probably 90% was handled with a loader stockpiling.
Chris there is nothing wrong with moving your backhoe that way. My uncle started his business just like that, just had a goose neck with double axles. Thanks and be safe.
Nice to see a familiar job site from the past. He should of ordered some fill earth from you Chris. He would o gotten some good quality stuff and not that water infused mess. Great video showing the F-250 hauling the Backhoe.
How did you start out in business. I have bought a bachoe, a 550G john deere dozer, a 350 long tractor, and a single axle dump truck. I have ran equipment for over 20 years. Have any good advice. Im a subscriber and love the show. Thanks
310E is 14,840lbs with 4wd, cab, and extendahoe. trailer has to be close to 5000lbs, I have a 20x8 2 axle equipment trailer thats around 4,000lbs, so thinking a triple axle would be closer to 5 and I don't know how long his trailer is either.
yeah its a bad habit. I dumped one time when i didnt have the bucket up high enough and it hit the ground and dug in. I thought i pulled the cylinder apart lol
A guy I know loaded their backhoe on the back of a f250 and loaded heavy towards the back of the trailer. Needless to say what happened. At least he was alright but the backhoe and the f250 didn't fair to well.
Letsdig, lemme ask you something. They rate those F350s at some rediculous 30k towing or whatever. I know they can pull it and stop it, but can they slow it? I used to live on an 18% grade mountain, and if I can't go down without using my brakes, I'm not going to take it down. Do you think one of these modern trucks has the engine braking to take it down such a hill? If not, I feel that the towing capacity is overrated and BS, and I'd feel more comfortable in an old truck with a detroit with a jake, even if it was rated for a lot less towing.
The Metal Butcher we use 2011 and newer f250’s at our recycling business, and tow everyday. When you’re in tow haul mode every time you touch the brake it downshifts. My 2011 I had, I made it till April of 2013 before I had to replace the brakes. If you’ve got a CDL, then towing with a pickup shouldn’t be an issue.
You wouldn’t hop in a rig with a heavy load and not use or have trailer brakes, why would you do that in an 8500 # truck? The heaviest I ever was with my truck, I pulled a fucking massive boat to Canada for my grandfathers friend. Boat, trailer and truck weighed out at 24,000#. Pulled great, don’t believe what every idiot says about their diesel truck “oh it pulls it and you can’t even tell anything is back there...” yeah that’s not correct. I never felt the truck couldn’t handle stopping the boat, but I didn’t get crazy and go over 70mph. Any heavier and I wouldn’t feel safe braking wise, and also weigh of the truck wise. I used to drive yard jockey, and the feel of that was similar to towing a huge load with a pickup truck. Yes it will do it, although not efficiently and you definitely lose braking effort with more weight.
I think they base the rating more on stopping it or slowing it down rather than what it can up and pull. They do have exhaust brakes on them now, not as effective as a jake by any means but it does work very well.
Thanks for the replies guys, but I'm not really concerned about the brakes. Assuming an infinitely long downhill, you're not going to want to be riding the brakes. You want to be able to engine break. I certainly wouldn't go pull any load without trailer brakes, but I don't believe in depending on brakes for holding speed. Brakes are for slowing and stopping, engines are for holding speed.
Mac Farms I came down a 7% grade in a ram 3500 with exhaust brake on. Dropped it to 4th or 5th gear and it held at about 60. I was loaded with a 304ec2 excavator. Trailer and machine was about 11-12k
how they manage without a loader i just dont understand lol. first thing most folks here get when starts a construction company is a 930 size loader hehe.
I’d pay good money to see that Pick up tow a dozer to a job 😉👍🏼 10 yards up the road ... Mrs Chris- Have you been smoking Michelin’s in this cab? Chris - No that’s ma clutch melting sweetheart
in motion how much longer would it take to load and unload? and what would u have to pull a big dozer over there? It’s just a small job and then he would have to think what todo with that hour and 50 minutes he saved

You’re so lucky Chris, to have all these guys watching you, that know better than you do.
He really is. I bet it never occurred to him to use a dozer instead. Haha
At least there isn't any hidden piles of asphalt in that! Play that game every few weeks.

Nicely done for what you had and the condition of the dirt. Stay safe and thank you.
It goes easyer with a dozer or a loader Chris, don't you think ? 😲😲😲😲😲😲 nice job Chris !
He couldn't have loaded them on that three wheel trailer.
You broke your own rule "no work on a sunday" must be a nice guy that you helped out.At least it was better than the last sunday.
More backhoe jobs!! Cool vid
What do you normally drive to tow the bigger equipment, semi truck?
dump truck and tag trailer
A good ole Cat D-9 would have made a picnic out of that job.!
Chris make more videos in the 250 Volvo excavator. Chris you work the construction equipment really good
That's what I was going to say, probably wishing you had the Takeuchi there
I’ve got a 410E and it’s been a great machine I put a hydraulic thumb on it and I’ve done many different jobs with it. I just wish mine was 4x4😭
you made a silk purse out of that sows ear you were given.....

What’s the difference between the 310e and 310se?
Chris, sunday, funday haha
How much weight is that truck rated to tow?
How much do you think that trailer and machine weighed total?
Will Flynn Probably about 16k lbs
Nah, that machine is something like 18 alone.
The Metal Butcher Nah, it weights 12,800 pounds
20,000 would be my guess

What the length of your trailer Chris?
Look at you showing up cottontop3 with that Ford and tag along
What is average pay per day for doing this kind of work. In landscaping I make between 200-600 and I'm tired of it
this was a $400 min job.. took 2 hours
Is this a free job or you charged the guy
It's a freebie for a guy he does a lot of work for.
uh no freebie here lol
One tip from an old loader hand, don't lift your bucket so high to dump. I"m not trying do be a smart donkey.
yeah its a bad habit. I dumped one time when i didnt have the bucket up high enough and it hit the ground and dug in. I thought i pulled the cylinder apart lol
@letsdig18 i bet next job like this the track loader can tackle it with no issues
"It looks wet." That's what she said.
A guy I know loaded their backhoe on the back of a f250 and loaded heavy towards the back of the trailer. Needless to say what happened. At least he was alright but the backhoe and the f250 didn't fair to well.
Are y'all in NC?
yup
letsdig18 if you're near Davidson county I might have some work for you.
its about 2.5 hours away. what do you have?

What's the weight aka overloaded?
Daniel Fry Roughly 16k lbs.
BornN1989 including the trailer. Guessing the backhoe weighs alone about 6.5t to 8t. What is the tow limit to his truck
Backhoe weighs a little under 13k by itself, truck is only meant to pull 12k with the hitch
BornN1989 thank-you
Backhoe is 16ish and trailer is 4500.
A Cat 950 loader would have been nice 😂
how they manage without a loader i just dont understand lol. first thing most folks here get when starts a construction company is a 930 size loader hehe.
Chris I like how you do good in the Volvo excavator make more videos in the Volvo excavator
Fish tailing is not a joke that happened to me trailer swung me across 3 lanes luckily got under control and no one near me either
Daryenmontana you must be a foreman you know alot
We were hauling a cat 304c mini hoe and the trailer stared fish tailing bad lol.
hello from kansas!!
Nice!!!!
That dirt is muddy but the backhoe got it done with ease no problems what so ever
Do you see yourself starting your own business or staying with your uncle?
Ill take over one day
letsdig18 Seems like you already have!! Lol
I see your making use of your fancy dancey internet
Seems like that would have been easier with a dozer
But if you don't have access to one....especially on a Sunday....
I think that's exactly what he mentioned towards the end of the video, didn't he?
I’d pay good money to see that Pick up tow a dozer to a job 😉👍🏼
10 yards up the road ...
Mrs Chris- Have you been smoking Michelin’s in this cab?
Chris - No that’s ma clutch melting sweetheart
He didn't need a D 6, my JD 400G would push pretty good and it weighed 1000 lb less then a 310.
I had to fast forward on that one. I expected a story...but Nooooooooo.
Dozer would have done this in 10 min .
in motion how much longer would it take to load and unload? and what would u have to pull a big dozer over there? It’s just a small job and then he would have to think what todo with that hour and 50 minutes he saved
@@randywilson6869 hey my name is randy too:)yea I dont remember I'd have watch it again been few years but I'm not a fan of backhoes.
Seems like your not interested in my comments
Hey Chris! Could you wash your windows a little more? Not bitching, but it would be nice.
rrkreutz2 Clean backhoe windows only ever seen to last at most 20 minutes whether its parked or working lol.
Dalton Chanch that's OK, the videos are usually less than 10 minutes long!
haha I clean them but they give covered again in dust within a few minutes
