Thank you for another engrossing and beautifully done series. I've shared the series with three missionary families who've spent many years in Zimbabwe and they said the wept as the scenes brought back a flood of wonderful memories. I was in Africa for the first time a year ago. Malawi and it's wonderful people captured my heart. I'll be returning to Tanzania in March 2017. I can't wait!

Own a LR4 and have set it up for overland touring in Aus(180L fuel tank(1500km on road), Rear Wheel Carriers, Bullbar, full roof rack, switch for off-road height above 55km/h, etc etc etc) and I do agree with your comments to some extent Andrew. You do need to put in a little extra effort and dollars to set one up for remoteness as you need to purchase the small BT IID Tool which is a LR specific computer which can override all sensors on the car, It can be done, but not as easily as a low tech model. Parts are actually cheap i've found as long as you're willing to express ship direct from the UK. Really love mine and for me the air suspension is worth the trade off, it's that good.. Remembering though there are very few true 4x4's as described that don't require the wheel speed sensors to be functioning to keep driving down rough terrain... LC200 being an example. Some things on the LR4 are very easy to fix. I've replaced all 4 of my air struts last week with 200k kms on them in 3 hours with 2 jacks stands and a jack for example.
Thanks for the wonderful series as you showed the world the picture that many don't hear about Zimbabwe only bad politics people think of when it comes to Zim .Hope your son is gonna do the same after the same time frame as you did . Its unfortunate you didn't take him along on the trip.

I suggest you to mention to your followers to stop using adblock while watching your videos and even click on the ads even if they dont like it. This way you will perhaps significantly increase your youtube income and we will keep watching these amazing adventures by just spending an extra 30 seconds for each video. I would like to see the formation of such consensus among your followers in this regard.
thanks for your kind words on my beloved LR3/4. if was to name one major thing annoying me on the LR3 (which i own) it'd be the same: why does it force to lower >40km/h. will try to change that in the CCF. 70km/h is from my standpoint a reasonable threshold.
na, not physically raise the car permanently with shorter rods. i already have the shorter rods in tool box but i do not really want to use them. i'd rather raise it with the IIDTool. but the smart thing would be to drive a bit faster with the suspension raised. until the point where height might get risky (highway). and: doing it this way wheel alignment isn't required.
Lion attacks of people are not unknown but are rare. They are almost always lone males who are out of a pride and are hungry, who hunt opportunistically. They do not plan a hunt like the females, but see something to eat and attack. This obviously wasn't the case here. I guess I was lucky.
I love what you had to say about the LR3 and LR4. That was about as nice as you be, while still telling the truth :) Like you, i have owned a LR, but it was a RR.... What can i say, best vehicle i've owned, but with more problems than Lada Neva :) Never again.... Toyota for me :) Would i take LR3 or 4 in Outback Australia... Hell NO!!!! My nerves couldn't take it... While it would be comfy, the constant mental stress of when it just stops in the middle of no where, would kill me. Just Google LR3, LR4 or Merc in the Australian Outback and you will see.
same here. owning an LR3 now, have had a lada niva (and jeep wrangler before that). loved the niva, though it had many faults and thing you think nowadays will not fail, had failed. but for the sake of space, comfort, and still being able to go wherever you wanna go: the discovery is by far THE best compromise, while not being a compromise at all. it's a true 4x4 with outstanding offroad performance, while offering best in class comfort and style.
Yes, and Economy and Road Manners when you are not offroad. On paper, its brilliant... In real life, its brilliant, until its breaks, fails, catches fire, the transmission fails, the doors fall off, the front end goes out, the Becker BM54 radio dies, the sunroof leaks, the carpets smell, etc etc etc..... you know what? people write on the internet only when they have to complain. only the bad cases get spread. i'm happy, though i spend 3 grand the last two months (inspection, wishbones, oil pump casing,.. the ususal things). i worked at other car manufacturers, vw, audi, fiat, as well owned american and japanese cars. they all fail. i had colleagues working at mercedes. you have no idea what goes wrong there, some really ridiculous things..
I love people whom say "People only write bad things on the net"... So in denial... Especially LR owners... Ask an Ex LR owners what they think :) I don't buy that one bit, people write what has happened to them as a warning to others, people also (me included) write about thing they are happy with that have impressed them.
After Australian adventures I double dare you to overland travel China and the Gobi desert. You know you want to. If you need someone to carry camera gear I'm available.
The Aussie's have a saying; If you want to go in the outback take a landrover, if you want to come back again take a landcruiser !! I couldn't agree more.
