you should watch the anime, even if you skip the school parts and watch only the tank battles. There are many scenes where shit hits the fan, they cut the background music and turn up the mechanical tank sounds, and all of them are peak action anime
You should absolutely watch the series and perhaps also the movies. I almost got put off by the first episode because the majority is about the background of the girls but the end of that episode surprised me so I decided to continue watching. I finished the entire season overnight amazed by how good it is. The movie is on another level, peak tank battles alone with fantastic music. It is now one of my favorite animes. You can skip the part that you are not interested in and go straight to battles.

It's better in warthunder. However considering I can kill a Ferdinand/Elephant from the front with a 40mm bofors at 500m while I can't with 90mm HEATFS (on the flat of the turret) is a big "how" in that pen amount is not as important as RNG HE spamming.
GuP is a bit slow, but gets much better by episode 3. And you'll definitely enjoy episodes 11 and 12. Also, that BT42 is in the movie, not the first series, and it saved a real version of itself in a tank museum in Finland. The museum put out a notice that they needed funds to restore the BT42 they had, and were astonished by the huge volume of donations they receieved from Japan, and had to go do some research to find out why.
As a fan of the show, I can confirm the voice acting is accurate. The Ankou crew is the most cheerful, loud and passionate, BT-42 is just Finnish, and Erika is just German lol, being the boss. Gg for Wargaming to put more of those in the game! Now we need Katyusha and British crew!

Yes but the BT chassis is not able to drive without tracks without preparation. It needs some weird thing installed to get the drive transferred from drive sprockets to road wheels. So the Anime is not accurate either, but it certainly would have been cool tho.
This is a really great collaboration, mainly because the tanks + crew are available for direct purchase and not hidden inside lootboxes. Finally, WG did something right again.
While Girls und Panzer is just a fun little anime to watch, the thing I really like about it is that has some of the most accurate depictions of the tanks used of any show that I have seen.
It's more than just a fun little anime to watch, the characters all grow in some way, the worldbuilding is very consistent, and the tank battles keep getting better the longer the series goes!

"Jatkosota" means continuation war. I read from an interview that this tank was a disaster, they said that you couldn't hit anything smaller than an airport with that gun and that's when you were stationary, from the move you were even less accurate. And as QB mentioned, the gun was useless against other tanks.
The reason the gun didnt work all the time was the shells HEAT shells were copied off of German ones but they didnt arm properly because of the different muzzle velocities and spin rate of the rounds
What I have heard, It was decently good destroying enemy MG positions. But in an anti tank role it was not great cause of the poor HEAT ammunition that did not work as intended.
@quickybaby I can confirm that unlike most unique crews, the Bt-42 crew will still have unique interactions with each other even if other generic crew members are present in the tank. I have been using them in my VK2801 105 with two extra members in there and all three girls are still interacting with each other on it.
Fun Fact in Anime BT-42 is a menace. It can solo the whole Pershing squad. While the commander is literally playing Polka. Mika always have her calm personality. The whole BT-42 crew are calm. American Pershings needs to be worry.
The battles in GuP are really cool. They really showcase the strenghts and weaknesses of the tanks they put into the series. I don't like anime but as a tank fan, I loved that one. Shame there is so little of it
I wish there was an anime with a more grim vibe and story about tanks but it's with guys instead of girls Unfortunately in japan the CGDCT (cute girls doing cute things) genre is just a lot easier to make popular, so we only have this. Similarly another CGDCT anime about battleships exists called High School Fleet

I watched Girls und Panzer when it first aired in 2012 and honestly it was what got me into playing WoT later on lol In response to QB's question @6:12 I think the first several episodes of the anime is not so good, especially if you're mainly watching for the tanks, but the remaining episodes and the rest of the movies are beautiful. The key is to not take it too seriously. The premise alone of school girls in tanks as a sporting activity should be enough to temper your expectations. There's no use getting mad if what you see on screen is not historically/physically accurate (although there are some historical references here and there).
QB should really just sit his ass down and watch the entire Girls und Panzer series and get over his overly sensitive sensibilities about watching an anime.

The 2 to 3 first episodes of G&P is for the story construction. It gets way better after these episodes with battles every 1 or 2 episodes, also there is a movie focused on a "great battle" and a long movie in 3 parts including french school. The anime is great, it's just a bit long at the beginning
As an anime fan and a fan of Girls und Panzer, I'm absolutely delighted that there's another collaboration. Well, the last part of the finale has also come out in the meantime. I think that's why the two other tanks came into the game in the first place. It would have been even funnier to have the MK that appears in the anime. ^^ And the anime is really good, you should watch it from start to finish.

To be fair about this collaboration, I'd say you're seeing Capitalism at works here, specifically the part about minimizing expense. Because Japan seems have a different mindset regarding royalty of their IPs which makes collabs a low expense event for more profit for Wargaming. Basically most Japanese companies see fanwork and collabs as free advertisement for their IPs, while Western companies see fanwork and collabs as stealing money from their IPs and so they must take legal actions unless the authors give these companies a lot of money to use their IPs. Seriously just look at Game Workshop Cease and Desist the hell out of fanwork for example of how most Western company manage royalty of their IPs, and then you can sort of understand why collabs with Japanese anime seems to happen quite frequently. That's my opinion.
Ok, i might actually come back to this game just to buy this bundle. I haven't played the game since 2020 but I am a big fan of the show and I've been wanting to see more GuP tanks in the game. Edit: Ok, I caved in. I just bought the "All-in" bundle and I'm now reinstalling the game. Never thought I'd be back to this game lol.
The Tank animations in the Anime are quite nice. Even if the story or characters are not for everyone. I for my part watched it for the very good Tank animation. And it is hillariously funny that when a tank is defeated there pops out a litte white Flag out of the Commaders Hatch.👍
Have never watched the show, but is the only way I could get a BT-42 (one of my most wanted tanks). So far it has been a lot of fun, play it with a smile and a laugh. Setup has been Rotation Device, Vert Stabs and Rammer. Now if WG would just introduced an AC3 Thunderbolt I'd be happy.
All the commanders have unique lines alone, and the Jatkosota crew interacts, and they added back voice lines for the Ankou (Oorai) crew interactions and it's nice they had the official mod covered that too. I kitted my Kuro Tiger the same as my Tiger C, durability, rammer, turbo

the Girls und Panzer show (and movies) have excellent battles! they're a bit nonsensical in that the physics can be bonkers, but it's fun to watch and can get you pretty hyped up. also the sound design is incredible! love hearing all of the guns, engines, tracks, etc sounds that theyve gone the extra mile to make.

To your question about Girls und Panzer anime - I think its absolutely amazing if you are somebody interested in tanks outside of just games, and might be easily one of the best piece of cinema about tanks I could count number of anime series Ive seen on my hands as it could be about 10, but Girls und Panzer is truly something special for history buffs. Its also got in general nice atmosphere, humour, various schools based on various nations represent their old stereotypes... There's Girls und Panzer the original anime, then Girls und Panzer Der Film, and now Girls und Panzer Das Finale
Hahah this was great! Yeah QB you got to give it some time, there are tank scenes here and there and they build up to epic fights and story toward the end of the episode and then series. Kinda sucks they arent dubbed which takes away from it if you let it. But you can even do what I did which was skip around to the tank scenes and skip all the dialog. It was so cool I went back and watched the whole thing. It is done really well. Highly rewatchable.

I am so damn excited to get this, in every version of World of tanks I get the Girls und panzer tanks. I just started playing on PC a few weeks ago and was heartbroken i couldnt buy them when i started I shall have my Panzer IV Anko again!
I'd definitely recommend you giving another go at the serie. The first two episodes are a bit slow as they're putting everything into context and easing you into it, but after that you're in for a wild ride that is fun to pretty much everyone, tank enthusiast or not, anime enthusiast or not.
@2:16 Not really an oversight since it is based on the Soviet BT-7 tank after all, which used the commander/gunner, driver and loader crew loadouts IRL (interestingly the in game versions of BT-7 and BT-7 artillery do not use this loadout). But yeah the BT-42 was a disaster of a tank IRL. It was mechanically unreliable, inaccurate, the HE shell wasn't really suited for tank combat and the HEAT shell that was copied from German designs wouldn't arm properly due to difference in velocity and rifling. Seeing as the HEAT shells failed to penetrate a T34 IRL, I think the listed 100+mm pen is quite an unrealistic number. The gun is BTW the same 4.5 inch howitzer (which in British usage only shot HE and smoke shells) that is in game used in Bishop, FV304 and Crusader 5.5-in. SP (none of which IRL actually used that gun). Regardless it is nice to finally see it in game, as it is an actual design that was used in combat. Not enough to make me change from my F2P ways tho. Don't really care about the other 2 tanks, as I already got the King Tiger (C) and tech tree PZ IV H.
I will say you seriously, watch GuP anime (with the movie "Der Film" and "Das Finale") Is totally worth it 👍 Good animation in battles with the tank models really good made it and WWII references in some moments
Tanks are cool, but the only problem I am having (an hence why I am not buying them) is that you can not "switch" the tank skin & crew voice & portrait so that it would look normally. If I had to option to buy regular BT-42 even without crew, I would actually do it. So here is a lesson Wargaming: If you are selling "skinned" tanks, also sell regular variants of those tanks alongside. For some one it may be cool, but imho tanks & child looking girls don't go along well....
@@heittomerkki Some people will buy those tank exclusively for the aesthetics, but I do think that vast majority of WoT player base would not buy them BECAUSE of their aesthetics. At least this is what I am guessing. WoT used to be a game about tanks that were more or less based on historical tanks, or at least tanks were "stylized" as historical. So, logically thinking, most of the player base like "realistic looking" tanks more than cartoony ones. I guess WG would make more cash if they gave us an option (you buy a tank with a skin & crew & you can just not use the skin & send crew to barracks). I guess I am gonna wait for the regular BT-42 then.

To be fair about this collaboration, I'd say you're seeing Capitalism at works here, specifically the part about minimizing expense.
Because Japan seems have a different mindset regarding royalty of their IPs which makes collabs a low expense event for more profit for Wargaming.
Basically most Japanese companies see fanwork and collabs as free advertisement for their IPs, while Western companies see fanwork and collabs as stealing money from their IPs and so they must take legal actions unless the authors give these companies a lot of money to use their IPs.
Seriously just look at Game Workshop Cease and Desist the hell out of fanwork for example of how most Western company manage royalty of their IPs, and then you can sort of understand why collabs with Japanese anime seems to happen quite frequently. That's my opinion.
Ok, i might actually come back to this game just to buy this bundle.
I haven't played the game since 2020 but I am a big fan of the show and I've been wanting to see more GuP tanks in the game.
Edit: Ok, I caved in. I just bought the "All-in" bundle and I'm now reinstalling the game. Never thought I'd be back to this game lol.

The Tank animations in the Anime are quite nice. Even if the story or characters are not for everyone. I for my part watched it for the very good Tank animation. And it is hillariously funny that when a tank is defeated there pops out a litte white Flag out of the Commaders Hatch.👍

Have never watched the show, but is the only way I could get a BT-42 (one of my most wanted tanks). So far it has been a lot of fun, play it with a smile and a laugh. Setup has been Rotation Device, Vert Stabs and Rammer. Now if WG would just introduced an AC3 Thunderbolt I'd be happy.
And I really want them to add Kay and company (American) crew and other non Das Finale crews eventually... maybe in another couple years.
All the commanders have unique lines alone, and the Jatkosota crew interacts, and they added back voice lines for the Ankou (Oorai) crew interactions and it's nice they had the official mod covered that too. I kitted my Kuro Tiger the same as my Tiger C, durability, rammer, turbo
the white flag should be a default addon to french tanks being destroyed aswell

the Girls und Panzer show (and movies) have excellent battles! they're a bit nonsensical in that the physics can be bonkers, but it's fun to watch and can get you pretty hyped up. also the sound design is incredible! love hearing all of the guns, engines, tracks, etc sounds that theyve gone the extra mile to make.
about the actual show, no. the first episodes are boring and just set up the absolute stupidity of tank action that follows. it is just great.

To your question about Girls und Panzer anime - I think its absolutely amazing if you are somebody interested in tanks outside of just games, and might be easily one of the best piece of cinema about tanks
I could count number of anime series Ive seen on my hands as it could be about 10, but Girls und Panzer is truly something special for history buffs. Its also got in general nice atmosphere, humour, various schools based on various nations represent their old stereotypes...
There's Girls und Panzer the original anime, then Girls und Panzer Der Film, and now Girls und Panzer Das Finale
Hahah this was great! Yeah QB you got to give it some time, there are tank scenes here and there and they build up to epic fights and story toward the end of the episode and then series. Kinda sucks they arent dubbed which takes away from it if you let it. But you can even do what I did which was skip around to the tank scenes and skip all the dialog. It was so cool I went back and watched the whole thing. It is done really well. Highly rewatchable.

I am so damn excited to get this, in every version of World of tanks I get the Girls und panzer tanks. I just started playing on PC a few weeks ago and was heartbroken i couldnt buy them when i started I shall have my Panzer IV Anko again!
I'd definitely recommend you giving another go at the serie. The first two episodes are a bit slow as they're putting everything into context and easing you into it, but after that you're in for a wild ride that is fun to pretty much everyone, tank enthusiast or not, anime enthusiast or not.
GUP is basically the Anime that brought me to love tanks, I liked that WoT is collabing with them.
@2:16 Not really an oversight since it is based on the Soviet BT-7 tank after all, which used the commander/gunner, driver and loader crew loadouts IRL (interestingly the in game versions of BT-7 and BT-7 artillery do not use this loadout). But yeah the BT-42 was a disaster of a tank IRL. It was mechanically unreliable, inaccurate, the HE shell wasn't really suited for tank combat and the HEAT shell that was copied from German designs wouldn't arm properly due to difference in velocity and rifling. Seeing as the HEAT shells failed to penetrate a T34 IRL, I think the listed 100+mm pen is quite an unrealistic number. The gun is BTW the same 4.5 inch howitzer (which in British usage only shot HE and smoke shells) that is in game used in Bishop, FV304 and Crusader 5.5-in. SP (none of which IRL actually used that gun).
Regardless it is nice to finally see it in game, as it is an actual design that was used in combat. Not enough to make me change from my F2P ways tho. Don't really care about the other 2 tanks, as I already got the King Tiger (C) and tech tree PZ IV H.
As a DUB enjoyer, I'd rather understand what's being said than having original voices.
I will say you seriously, watch GuP anime (with the movie "Der Film" and "Das Finale") Is totally worth it 👍

Somehow looking at the crew when switching from a normal german vehicle to the BT-42 is the fucking funniest thing ever.
Girls und Panzer is a great tournament underdog story. Highly recommend it for tank fans even if it jumps the shark at times.
Every wot player should watch gup, if only for the cracked tank models and action scenes from the movies.

The best thing on this packet is the large number of trained crew members. With them inside a new German tank, grinding will be much easier.

Tanks are cool, but the only problem I am having (an hence why I am not buying them) is that you can not "switch" the tank skin & crew voice & portrait so that it would look normally. If I had to option to buy regular BT-42 even without crew, I would actually do it. So here is a lesson Wargaming: If you are selling "skinned" tanks, also sell regular variants of those tanks alongside. For some one it may be cool, but imho tanks & child looking girls don't go along well....

@@heittomerkki Some people will buy those tank exclusively for the aesthetics, but I do think that vast majority of WoT player base would not buy them BECAUSE of their aesthetics. At least this is what I am guessing. WoT used to be a game about tanks that were more or less based on historical tanks, or at least tanks were "stylized" as historical. So, logically thinking, most of the player base like "realistic looking" tanks more than cartoony ones. I guess WG would make more cash if they gave us an option (you buy a tank with a skin & crew & you can just not use the skin & send crew to barracks). I guess I am gonna wait for the regular BT-42 then.
U can turn off non historical skins in the settings if u dont like cartoony skins

@@matsurisband-aids I know that WoT has something like this, but it only works on skins and not tanks. Those new tanks are each separate tank with a name & stuff and not a skin for a tank, so it does not work.
