Today DJI has launched its next generation action camera the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro. Building on the solid performance of the Action 4 the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro bring many new feature and enhancements such as new 4 hour battery life, a new 4 nm chip and next generation 1/1.3 inch sensor allowing for improved low light capabilities with 13.5 stops of dynamic range. The Action 5 Pro now feature larger OLED screens and new tracking capabilities among many other new capabilities.

I have the Osmo Action 3 and 4: both of which are outstanding - a real game changer would be if DJI would add an adjustable focus, even if its just manual, or at least handle close-up shots with sharper focus. The Super Night Mode makes a massive difference, by the way. I would probably get it for that alone.
Is the steady horizon still cropped?

I would love to see the Mini 5 Pro released in time for the fall colours which will be soon. I have no idea when the 5 Pro is expected of course. DJI's teaser ad before today's release date mentioned a 5 Pro, though I guess the picture they included didn't match a drone. But I had hoped! //Tom

Personally, I would choose DJI Action 5. I do have a GoPro review coming, but my go to action camera will still remain the DJI.

I got Action 4 earlier this year. It is my first action camera and I can't recommend it enaugh. Great quality and super reliable. I love very natural colors and contrast in my videos. It leaves some space for my amateur editing.

I’m picking mine up tomorrow, now I need your set up guide, I’ve always had GoPro’s this is my first Action, no pressure but get a video filmed, edited and loaded by tomorrow afternoon 😂

I don’t think they were the same spots. I live in Canada. He lives in the US. Maybe just similar buildings.

I read somewhere that it was supposed to have 3 internal mics. Is one of them at the back to capture your voice? When you vlog a scene in front of you instead of your face, you couldn't get good voice audio on previous cams as you weren't facing the cam, so do please let me know.

One last question sry. Can you tell me your export settings? your videos look much better even i set my export to 80mbs bitrate and quicktime highest quality
I edit all my videos in LumaFusion on iPad Pro and export at 100 Mb

Do you know if it supports 60 FPS Rtmp? or is it still limited to 30FPS? I can't find any info about it online and I'd really love to know before I purchase it full of expectations, without it meeting those :)

Hello! Thank you for your review. Still haven't saw it all, but i would like to leave you one simple note. Your brake levers are too high up. You will feel much more comfortable and secure if you point them downward slightly. It is just one screw and rotate them.

I was looking to buy a new action cam this year, but since I'm disappointed with both the GoPro 13 AND the Action 5, I guess I'll be waiting to see what comes out next year. Neither of them have done enough of an upgrade to justify a purchase from owners of current release cams.

This action camera is 100 times way more better then the go pro 13 black edition. In the near future i will buy one.
Bad ass. The night/low light footage looks incredable. According to DJI the slow mo performance is 240fps @ 1080p BUT "intelligently generates up to 960fps"....Hmmm interesting

ACtion 5 hit the right spot, better low light quality, excellent day video, backward compatibility with A4 battery, GPS, bigger screen, longer battery...subject tracking is awesome, hopefuly they implement on A4 with new FW update
If you are on the market looking to purchase something to up your social media content and currently looking at the 360 x4. Which one would you recommend between these two? For day to day use not really an outdoorsy person here.

Looks solid. I'm curious how the 4k60 HLG footage matches with the Air3. I was considering the Hero13 but this will likely be a better fit considering I'm already well into the DJI space with my drone lol

Sooo DJI managed to squeeze a liitle more juice from the battery while maintaining the same form factor and compatibility, only Gopro couldn't... RIP gopro!
I think GoPro could have. They just chose to change the form factor so customers would have to buy more accessories. I have a video coming with battery and overheating performance on Saturday. The action, five blows GoPro away and all aspects when it comes to overheating, recording time and charging speed

I m satisfied with my Action 4, no need to upgrade like iphone users doing it every year. You buy once action camera and that is enough.
Ngl the difference between the action 4 and action 5 pro is quite significant. The “like every iPhone user” makes zero sense considering past the iphone 10 they have been the same with next to no differences. Action 5 pro actually is worth the cost.
Could you show with this model exactly how you take the video off maybe a couple of different examples I have an iPad Pro, the larger one and this year’s I think it’s called the m4. I bought one of these cameras when they first came out and when you go to get the Footy off, it’s so twisted and labeled in ways that’s almost impossible to know what it is. You have to really dig all through the SD card and open up 10 or 12 folders just find the footage that you shot, I would be curious to see how this one does if they may fix those problems.
Normally, when I have a camera and I put my SD card into either computer or an iPad, you can see like a little thumbnail of the picture or at least the date on the Omos. It’s just like a whole bunch of letters thumbnail and you have to play a guessing game last time I shot I had to actually take it somewhere and get them to find the video because we thought it was lost.
That's lot of upgrade from action 4. Go pro 13 was definitely not at all a big upgrade.
Only thing we didn't get 1 inch sensor.

The upgrades wouldn’t be noticed by most Action 4 users, the new battery is good and I can use it with my 3 and 4, I’ll be waiting till it’s discounted for my moto vlogs.
@@IanTed newer sensor for better low light, altimeter for trekkers, bigger battery, bigger screen, support for dual dji mic 2, a very big upgrade. I think I will go for action 5 instead of pocket 3

I think the reasoning behind it was due to existing features and some of the new features makes it a pro level device

Does it have timelapse features ?
Yes, it does. You can create hyper lapses, and time lapses. I might make a video demonstrating that’s capabilities in that area.

You can adjust denoising and what they refer to as texture. I believe that’s the same thing as sharpening you can go +2 or -2.
@@AirPhotography i asked the same to another reviewer who compared it vs. OA4. Both set at -2. OA4 looks great and OA5 still looks oversharpened.
I'm upgrading from OA1... and i think i'm gonna choose the OA4... I don´t think i'll be able to get a good cinematic look on the OA5...

What’s best for record video 4k 30 or 4k 60?
I always film at 4K 60 I like the look of it and it gives me the option to slow down by half if needed

Is there going to be a firmware update for the Action 4 now that the 5 is out. As there will be people that won’t get the action 5 for a while.
I’m not sure I haven’t checked yet. DJI is good at continuing to improve older products.

I will wait until DJI comes up with a 360 degree view angle which will be a game changer! There is still plenty of room of improvement and the current update is simply negligible.

I’m a bit disappointed with the upgrades, still happy with my 3 and 4 for moto vlogging and travel. Waiting for the predictable firmware updates and deals at a later date, why did they add PRO to the name?
