In smb3d land. If you juggle a koopa shell enough, it'll burst into a 1up... I found out when I noticed juggling one with a fire flower kept giving me higher point values each hit... it just can't hit the ground when you start
To be fair, since the hat serves a gameplay purpose with the cap glide badge, it makes sense that the 99 lives easter egg was removed. Of course, it could be argued that since the badge could be used with characters that don't even have a cap in the first place, my reasoning is slightly flawed.
