Yeah those are two big and difficult ones. I used to stay up until 4-5am during the weekend and get up at 6am for work on a Monday, it can really wreak havoc on your hormones releasing properly. The stress is a huge one too. Keep working at it, if there is/was hope for me anyone can get things turned around 👍
I like that you actually have real world experience selling sleep products and that this isn't just anecdotal theory. All these things are great advice and if folks can just try to implement one at a time, they will eventually improve their sleep experience. One thing at a time people.. Don't try to do it all at once. Much like diet or exercise. Ease into it. Cheers Josh!
Very good advice! I was always interested in this stuff even before I worked in the industry, mostly because I slept really poorly. It took me years to slowly incorporate a lot of these things and I don’t even follow them all completely now. Slow and steady always wins 👍👍
I like waking up to natural light coming through my windows. Even though I live in the city there isn't much light getting in at night. But man my two biggest issues are caffeine at night and then also being inconsistent with my bedtime. I have the bad habit of staying up and working until I am on the verge of passing out and then I shut down the studio and go upstairs to the bedroom.
I used to be really bad at the inconsistent bedtimes, especially when I was out late playing shows with my band. Over the years I’ve started to get into the work zone earlier and earlier, definitely helped avoid it. Those are great times though when you’re in a good flow of work, I don’t blame you for staying up haha.
@@joshfenn it is always helpful, the same with lbs to kgs, it makes it easier for european or in my case south american viewers. love what you have being doing with your channel btw, you are an inspiration to us all!
Going to bed the same time every night. Getting up the same time. I’m normally awake 5 minutes before the alarm goes off. Sleep mask. Blue filter on my phone and iPad all the time and I use blue filter glasses from 4pm. No screen time an hour before bed. Limit screen time to 2/4 hours a day. This includes tv. Workout x3 times a week as well as walking. Change the things I can and pray about the things I can’t and meditate. Done this all within 10 months and it’s made a difference. Bit by bit forming new habits. 😊🇬🇧
Thanks. I've had a long history of terrible sleep. About two nights a month is good sleep. I've addressed, before, all the things you've talked about with no change in my sleep quality. I can have difficulty with onset as well as interrupted sleep. There's no pattern that I can tell.
It might be time for you to see a doctor/specialist in your case! If you have been following all of these and still not seeing relief, it could be sleep apnea or some medical issue causing you trouble. Hope you can find some help soon!
One's best sleep is from sunset until about 3 or 4 in the morning. I drink a cup of hot black tea and fall asleep easily. This habit also eliminates back pain, etc. I thank the LORD for teaching me this simple way. God bless those it helps!
Ah. You also have the 4 a.m. dinner date with kitty. Mine will get sick if he goes all night without food so better for me to wake up and feed Louie than to wake up to the sound of wretching.😆 Thorough list(for instance including that your skin senses light also. Most people have no idea nor believe me when I've shared that with them). You just seem to take things one or two steps further than others, no matter what the topic. Thanks.
Haha, my cat does this as well and literally happened yesterday. Better getting up to feed him than my 3am vomit cleanup I just went through. Thanks for the support!
That’s definitely a tough one, I don’t follow it as well as I should. See if you can commit to a week and see if you notice any difference! Seeing or not seeing the results will probably help you with follow through 👍👍
I live in a studio. The fire detector emits a flashing light and bugs the heck out of me. A sleep mask is a good idea. I have one black out curtain in my bed room area (I live in a studio). I use a tension rod to hang it up. My mom's idea.
I’ve heard of that tension rod setup, glad it worked well for you! Unfortunately my window framing won’t allow for it but a good tip for most. Thanks for sharing!
The video is nice but I wanted to ask that , past 1 month ago I only slept 5 hours and now I am not feeling freshed in morning and now I sleep around 10 hours a night but nothing happened , same as not feeling freshed please answer me what I can do
Tough to say for sure from my perspective, if the basics aren’t working for you I’d recommend to just give it some time and consistency, and if that fails it might be worthwhile to see a sleep specialist or a doc of some kind if it’s severe enough. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help!
Thank you so much for this video Josh! I will try some of your tips out! Do you have any tips to my 7 month old boy to sleep trough the whole nigh aswell? 😇😂
Haha, a 7 month old is probably more severe than all of these things combined. Hang in there, hope you can get a bit more rest soon! (In 17 years or so at least 😂)
Helped pay the bills and get me off the ground with my freelance video business and UA-cam 👍 the downtime was great to get my editing done too. The actually work part of it was awful a lot of times though but I had to pay the bills somehow haha.
How well do you sleep at night? 👇
Oh boy, the inconsistent bedtime and stress of daily life is definitely the causes of my lack of sleep.

thank you for the C° clarification for the bedroom temperature, us non-americans always have to double-check that when you guys talk about temperature
No problem, seeing this makes me glad I took the extra minute to put in the conversion!

Lovely video, i’d love to see more vids with your financial advice to people after highschool, i feel like i struggle as a young person with that Xx
Thanks for letting me know, I’ll keep this in mind for a few possible future videos. Appreciate the support!
Thanks Josh. Gonna try a lot of these tips😴😴
Glad to hear that!
Oh my God, yes to all of these!

Some people may be too sensitive to the caffeine to have right before bed, but I’m glad you save a system that’s working well for you!

10PM only? I am in bed by 9:30PM and that's the best thing I have done to sleep better ~ it helps you relax much faster
I aim for 9:30 in bed to fall asleep by 10. Glad it’s working well for you too!
Your videos are awesome; super helpful!
