    I'd add instead of tossing the clothes that don't fit, I'd go to a tailor (youre usually helping a small business too). Another one i'd add is mending clothing, I have a sewing machine that I am using this week to mend some stuff around the house thats been adding up, from sewing up small holes in some clothes, a rip in a pillowcase, to even repairing a tear in a jacket.

    Excellent tips on saving some dough & being more eco-friendly! I have flasks but I still prefer bottled Costco water or 9.5 waters (still working on that). Keep up with the vids, really enjoy them! I miss your vlogs :)

      It’s definitely a long term work in progress sort of thing, just keep making changes that work best in your life and you’ll get there! Glad you’re enjoying the videos too :) nice to hear someone enjoyed the vlogs, very few folks watched them back in the day but I can definitely see bringing them back as the channel grows around here.

    Another thing is when you were talking about not having books is you can always go to the local library for books and movies!

    Good points but I disagree with the point about Ill fitting clothing. For a person like me who is constantly fluctuating in weight, i’ve learned the hard way that its always smart to have a wardrobe one size larger in storage. Otherwise I end up constantly buying and selling clothes which is even more wasteful.

    I’m in the process of selling off most of my physical media. I like buying physical copies of games, but I never keep them, I sell/trade them when I’m done. My books and records were stacked up and getting no use. It’s been great to get some $ out of them.

    Here in the US, people tends to use toilet paper more than other countries. In Asian (Japan/Korea/Vietnam etc...) most toilet have a water line faucet next to it so people use it instead of toilet paper 90% of the time.

      Not sure why bidets and water cleaning haven’t taken off more here in the US, hopefully over time more people will adopt a similar setup!

    Oh now I loveeee your channel. The lighting, the background, the camera you use, your thoughts on this subject are very helpful.
    I admit I struggle with the paper towels I try, but always go back to using them.
    My cat Stella never plays with her toys. She would rather sit in a box…..
    Except every morning my husband plays with her with this mouse on a wand, and she calls it a day after that, I donated all her toys except for two to a shelter…
    I am work in progress too 😀

    Here's a tip for refillable oil sprayer... in order for the oil not to go rancid store it in the fridge. That will make the oil last longer before spoiling. This will make the oil thinker so you'll have to run it under hot water to loosen it up.

    I’ve had probably 20 reusable water bottles in my life because I always end up losing them or forgetting them somewhere and I like nice aesthetically pleasing bottles (so expensive) so losing them was getting really annoying. If there are people like me watching this video the trick is to buy a ~1 liter hard plastic water bottle from some fancy water company like Pellegrino or acqua panna and use it for as long as you can until you lose it, it’s not as great as being responsible but it works. I usually use mine for about 2 months before I lose it. It’s not the most eco, it’s not gonna be as cheap as buying one bottle and keeping it for 5 years but it works

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  3 роки тому

      You’ve gotta do what works best for you. Hopefully in time you can learn to not lose/leave the bottles but glad the system has been working okay for you.

      I never thought I could do it either! If you’re looking for a ‘fancier’ alternative it might be worth checking out a big back of shop towels or something for a more dedicated replacement. You do you know, everyone’s situation is different 👍👍

    With cats I have learned that they like to play with everything what you didn't buy for them but not with those things what you bought for them. Too often I have found my cat sitting on a box of their toys after they have forget the actual toy.

      It’s just a misting spray bottle to use when cooking to coat pots and pans when needed. They make aerosol sprayers that are designed just for that but the refillable misters/sprayers work just as well and are far cheaper.

    • @joshfenn
      @joshfenn  Рік тому

      It depends a lot, but there’s an unfortunate ‘disposable’ mentality around a significant amount of America. Some people and places are more conscious than others.
