Und sie hatte mal in ihrer Instagram Bio eine ganze Zeit lang Haribo macht Kinder froh stehen, aber das war ganz am Anfang ihrer Karriere. 😄😅

Wow. Compare Min's level of English fluency with some kpop idols who can barely make coherent basic sentences, and add to that the fact that she speaks 3 other foreign languages... Min truly is an amazing artist! Love your songs and stay safe from a Romanian living in London who is your fan! (I also love Chinese history and tried to learn a bit of Mandarin Chinese, so I totally feel your pain with learning "katakana" - pictographic languages are monsters of linguistics! :))) ) Germany was still lovely the last time I went there this past winter for the amazing Christmas market in Koln, but sadly I think big festive events like their traditional Christmas markets will be cancelled for who knows how many years now... (even if we get a vaccine I think large gatherings will be avoided out of safety concerns for a while) Still, both Germany and Vietnam are doing well with containing this ourbreak (Vietnam did much better but Germany is keeping it under control more than other European states) so hopefully we'll all survive this without losing loved ones and you'll get to see your adoptive European country again in the near future! Ha, how should your ability to speak a language (English) define your capacity as an artist? Why should English be put on a higher ground than any other language? Superiority much?

Still, now that I saw your comment I need to clarify - I didn't mean that English should be put on any kind of pedestal as a language (in fact, it is easier than most other European languages as it has no gendered nouns, case systems, and pretty standard verb conjugations, and it certainly isn't as hard as most Asian languages, with all of their tones, particles and in the case of Chinese and Japanese even writting systems...) or that an artist's ability at speaking it should be an indicator of their artistic prowess - only that I found it admirable and amazing that she had the time to learn 4 languages and achieve this level of fluency at least in 1 while being a professional singer! It was my bad for phrasing my original comment a bit poorly, but I just meant to compliment Min's achievement, not insult other artists... (I myself very often listen to vpop, cpop, a little kpop as well as plenty of Turkish and Russian music for example, so I'm sure there are singers I like who don't speak any English and of course that doesn't make them worse) It's also that I speak English at a native level of fluency so I commented specifically on her English because I can judge it - coversely I just know a handful of words in German/Japanese and none in Vietnamese (maybe "Ai" means "love" like in Mandarin as I think I heard that word in a few vpop love songs? Or "Ghen" means "jealous" because of the subtitles on Min's song? 😂Even if I guessed these 2 right I'd never get the correct tone of the 6 there are in Vietnamese, so I still know 0 words lol), so English is the only language she speaks in which I could accurately assess her ability. Adding to your points, I also think it's much harder for Asian people to learn English than it is for most of us Europeans, because the whole logic of the language, as well as vocabulary, is very different compared to Asian languages. About 40% of English vocabulary is of Germanic origin (so it will sound similar to words in Dutch, Flemish, German, some Scandinavian languages etc) and another rough 40% is of Latin origin (so similar to words in Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Romanian), which means that most Europeans (except slavic people and a few others) will instantly recognise some words in English when they first hear them, which won't be the case for Asian learners...

My father and mother are both Vietnamese and I was born in the US so I am also very fluent with Vietnamese due to me growing up with my grandma. My grandpa is half Vietnamese and half Chinese so I grew up not knowing that I understood Chinese because my grandpa spoke to me in Vietnamese more than Chinese. My grandma was born in Vietnam but then my great great grandma took my grandma to Japan, because she wanted my grandma to learn and earn a degree at Japan. My grandma gave birth to my mom in Korea because my grandma's older sister lived there with her Korean husband. So basically I'm American, part Vietnamese, a small part of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Wow.
Kaori L did I mention that my grandma HAD to live in Korea with her older sister and her husband because at that time my grandma's mother (my great great grandma) passed away so my grandma could support her family? 😢 and also my father *was* a small singer in Vietnam, but now he's forgotten and retired from his singing career for the family...

Wow. Compare Min's level of English fluency with some kpop idols who can barely make coherent basic sentences, and add to that the fact that she speaks 3 other foreign languages... Min truly is an amazing artist! Love your songs and stay safe from a Romanian living in London who is your fan! (I also love Chinese history and tried to learn a bit of Mandarin Chinese, so I totally feel your pain with learning "katakana" - pictographic languages are monsters of linguistics! :))) )
Germany was still lovely the last time I went there this past winter for the amazing Christmas market in Koln, but sadly I think big festive events like their traditional Christmas markets will be cancelled for who knows how many years now... (even if we get a vaccine I think large gatherings will be avoided out of safety concerns for a while) Still, both Germany and Vietnam are doing well with containing this ourbreak (Vietnam did much better but Germany is keeping it under control more than other European states) so hopefully we'll all survive this without losing loved ones and you'll get to see your adoptive European country again in the near future! Still, now that I saw your comment I need to clarify - I didn't mean that English should be put on any kind of pedestal as a language (in fact, it is easier than most other European languages as it has no gendered nouns, case systems, and pretty standard verb conjugations, and it certainly isn't as hard as most Asian languages, with all of their tones, particles and in the case of Chinese and Japanese even writting systems...) or that an artist's ability at speaking it should be an indicator of their artistic prowess - only that I found it admirable and amazing that she had the time to learn 4 languages and achieve this level of fluency at least in 1 while being a professional singer! It was my bad for phrasing my original comment a bit poorly, but I just meant to compliment Min's achievement, not insult other artists... (I myself very often listen to vpop, cpop, a little kpop as well as plenty of Turkish and Russian music for example, so I'm sure there are singers I like who don't speak any English and of course that doesn't make them worse)
It's also that I speak English at a native level of fluency so I commented specifically on her English because I can judge it - coversely I just know a handful of words in German/Japanese and none in Vietnamese (maybe "Ai" means "love" like in Mandarin as I think I heard that word in a few vpop love songs? Or "Ghen" means "jealous" because of the subtitles on Min's song? 😂Even if I guessed these 2 right I'd never get the correct tone of the 6 there are in Vietnamese, so I still know 0 words lol), so English is the only language she speaks in which I could accurately assess her ability.

Adding to your points, I also think it's much harder for Asian people to learn English than it is for most of us Europeans, because the whole logic of the language, as well as vocabulary, is very different compared to Asian languages. About 40% of English vocabulary is of Germanic origin (so it will sound similar to words in Dutch, Flemish, German, some Scandinavian languages etc) and another rough 40% is of Latin origin (so similar to words in Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Romanian), which means that most Europeans (except slavic people and a few others) will instantly recognise some words in English when they first hear them, which won't be the case for Asian learners...

My father and mother are both Vietnamese and I was born in the US so I am also very fluent with Vietnamese due to me growing up with my grandma. My grandpa is half Vietnamese and half Chinese so I grew up not knowing that I understood Chinese because my grandpa spoke to me in Vietnamese more than Chinese. My grandma was born in Vietnam but then my great great grandma took my grandma to Japan, because she wanted my grandma to learn and earn a degree at Japan. My grandma gave birth to my mom in Korea because my grandma's older sister lived there with her Korean husband. So basically I'm American, part Vietnamese, a small part of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Wow.
