What happens if you bring Nick Valentine to Brotherhood of Steel HQ?

- Have you ever considered what would happen if you brought Nick Valentine to the Brotherhood of Steel base, given their stance on synths in Fallout 4? I decided to find out. I went to Sanctuary Hills, found Nick Valentine there, and brought him along. Then we headed to Boston Airport, where the Brotherhood's base is located in the Commonwealth. We walked straight up to the gates. Afterward, I explored the airport and even checked out the airship. Here are the remarks I overheard directed at my friend.

Brotherhood Leader: Technology cant be controlled!
Brotherhood: Synth Pet
Lol !
That's actually the opposite of what the brotherhood wants, they want all technology strictly controlled so that nothing like what happened in 2077 can ever happen again
They don’t mind normal robots and synths, it’s the gen 3 they are annoyed by since they can camouflage them selves as humans
If you play the series you see the hypocrisy in all the different factions. It's the narrative
Lol
I love Nick so much. He's definitely my favorite companion.
I kinda hope we see him again in another Fallout title, even as a cameo
What about dogmeat 🐕
@@Abraham-yf2sddogshit
no. too judgy. almost go with dog meat.
@@HolySych Dogmeat cant hold a gun. Nick's witty comments over Dogmeat day.
Brotherhood soldier : “That thing shouldn’t have a free will!”
Nick : “What? Are you jealous you had to turn yours in?”
Is that actually a line in game?

Yes and it had me rolling the first time I heard it, Nick sure is witty lol @@Gfish17
*Checks the soldier's pulse, crosses himself* "He's dead."
Hahahaha! Damn.
In my save, someone said “A machine shouldn’t have free will.” and Nick responded, “What’s the matter, jealous since you gave yours up?”
Nick is savage
Bruhhhh that goes unbelievably hardd
really? if its true, damn, nick should join the forged instead. that burn way hotter than their cheap flamer

I liked nick because the game didn’t feel like a single player game as much, he brought life to it, I didn’t feel alone all the time.
he interacts with npc's in every settlement i visit, he has another life away from us.
So anti-Preston gravy?
yea I only wished you could have two companions. Like piper and nick is all I needed.
@@randomguyontheinternet8345mods bro, only way to fully enjoy this game
@@randomguyontheinternet8345there’s a mod for multiple companions
I always bring him near BOS soldiers just so Nick can absolutely roast the rads off of them.
Is that a good thing though?
Brotherhood: We hate Synths.
Sole Survivor: Okay, since I'm friends with Nick, I must be banned from the Brotherhood.
Todd Howard: Don't be hasty.
Unless you're rushing it by the time you are doing brotherhood missions you're strong enough to be a genuine threat to their entire force. We know full well if you were anyone else they would have executed nick but they dont wanna risk being literally decimated in return. By that point you're bare minimum heavily armored and armed and if you've done mechanist and nuka world you potentially have both a bandit army and a robot army at your beck and call.
@@nogitsunegamingFr, I've started fallout 4 recently(planning to actually beat the game this time and not do like 25% of it like a couple years ago) and by time I finally got into the pryden a couple days ago I already had a X-01 mk4 suit of power armor. Y'know For it being a nuclear wasteland, Power armor and fusion cores is pretty common.
@Dk-he6ez FCs make sense - kinda. Power Armor, though, eh. Like the suit that was in transport on the train makes sense. But suits just being in random places doesn't. Sure people may have gotten ahold of some over 200 years, but not always.

The way Nick's storyline played out was worth the game by itself.
Very cool, indeed. One of the best companions in enteries Fallout series.
Nick + Far Harbor is what did it for me. Really had the emotional payoff that I felt was a little lacking in the main game.
Huh
If you want a "fun" time - bring the Courser to the Railroad.
Yikes!

Taking Hancock on the airship has some fun dialog too.
Was about to comment this. It's arguably even funnier than Valentine's interactions.
@@JovaneloI have the mod that let's me take them both. And Strong too!
I bet, they hate Ghouls too and Hancock isn't the one who will be just quiet xDD
My favorite quotes from John
"Are you sure this thing's tamed?
"Heh. Hardly."
"Behave yourself, freak."
"Ain't about to start now."

Brotherhood is probably cool with Super Mutant companions too.
And their cool with Hancock
Too they just make similar remarks
When you think about it, Nick, Strong, and Hancock should all elicit the same hostility that post-Blind Betrayal Danse does.
well in fallout 3 i had one and they were fine with him , no mods. Fawkes is a companion you free from a vault and he has a higher IQ than the other super mutants.
@@AdmiralKarelia Curie as well
@@wadewilson5712and a higher IQ then some people irl
Answer: he gets really catty.
Nick was definitely top tier companion
Even nick states how ridiculously would be for him to enter a BOS HQ, this is Bethesda Peak Game Design and consequences.
In New Vegas if you dare approach a Legion Camp with peaceful intentions Boone would stop following your commands and go full berserk, guns blazing until he couldn't see any red on his scope.
I mean after blind betrayal, Danse will be attacked by BOS. So, it was a weird design decision to just comment badly about nick instead. But still NV has some goofy a moments
@@RonanInLan
But Nick isn’t impersonating a human person.
@@pokemagetech No point on it. BOS hates all non-human beings the same.
@@RonanInLan The BOS hates super mutants in FNV but is 100% fine with you have Lily as a companion so its the same design choice Obsidian chose.

Nick's responses are hilarious!
I unironically took him there almost every time, i replayed it and its been like 5 or 6 years ago and i didn't remember. I found out by him saying he hopes i don't share their views.
The first time I played I had Nick tagging along still and went to inspect the Brotherhood of Steel HQ. I started hearing offhand remarks like 'you better keep that tincan close, if he wanders away, can't say we didn't warn you' and the like. But when I went up to the Prydwen, one of the BoS members said "You should really be careful with whom you keep company, friend. And a Synth ain't the kind of company you want." to which Nick replied with "Yeah yeah, I've heard it all before. I'm sure my companion here knows what kind of company with which they want to idle with. And I can't say YOUR kind, is it."
To this day I have no idea what triggered it, I didn't have any mods at the time because I didn't know I COULD mod my game as I was on Xbox. At this point I'm almost sure it was a Mandela Catalog Effect or something.
Did… did you genuinely just say “mandela CATALOGUE effect” or was that a joke??
There’s no catalogue in that phrase lmao
Mandela catalogue is the found horror thing
Mandela effect is the misremembering thing
OP
🤣🤣🤣 “In that transaction” see, this is why I love Nicky. Good Ol’ Nicky, that witty sarcastic bucket of bolts. He’s worth more to me than a diamond ring. Wouldn’t trade him in for all of the bottle caps available in the game itself. His remarks always get me through the day. Nicky, Danse and Dogmeat are my favourite characters overall.
Nick is THE best companion of all time: change my mind
I can't 😭
As I tried this, Nick was instantly attacked by the whole Brotherhood. I don't know if it depends how far into main story you are or if the survival difficulty led to that.
Might depend if you are allied with them yet.
@@josephperez2004 It was years ago and I don't remind at what point it was. Too many playthroughs. I think I am addicted to F4. Usually I go with all factions as long as possible until the battle of Bunker Hill.

I'm pretty sure that early on they won't do anything, but early-mid (I wanna say after you meet maxson) they'll flip out for a short tkne.
It's always a good time when it's just a few of them, and Nick has a chance to return fire, so they all go hostile on you.
🤣
If you didn't start the brotherhood missions or go there before the airship shows up they will be hostile
@@O_Lee69Ahh yes, the classic “Become The House, as The House always wins” route from NV

Nick: Yeah? You’re not much to look at either

Yeah he gets a lot of hate there. Poor Nick
I watch these like I don't already know 😅
I'm fully convinced that the sole survivor is a secondary character and the game is actually about Nick 😂
Honestly that sounds like a rad game. Nick Valentine detective game spin off when?
Funny I actually did this today! They were like, “how could you bring a synth here?!”
He answers the question in the last 25% of the video
Nah if they hav an issue with my companion they should keep it to themselves don’t forget ik how to turn off your immunity Arthur
Plot Twist, Liberty Prime is replaced by a synth. Checkmate BOS

nah they're just synthcis
Yeah for for example, in New Vegas, Boone becomes hostile towards Legion troops. The same could have easily been done with Brotherhood soldiers in regard to Valentine.
In Fallout 2, Vault City made you leave your super mutant and/or ghoul companions outside.
@@AG1kI think that does happen when you bring X6-88 to Railroad HQ.

Glad to see the tv show pumped some life into fallout. It’s always been a great game.
I already knew this one because I have Nick Valentine as my follower the entire time.
This is my favorite exchange of dialog:
BOS Soldier: "No machine should have free will."
Nick Valentine: "Why, are you jealous that you had to give up yours?"
😂FUCKING SAVAGE😂
I really just can't enough of these little bits. And I get so invested too like I'm watching real news.
Nick Valentine is by far one of the best characters in all of fallout. His smart ass quips and witty comments always got me smiling. We also share the same name. My middle name is Valentine.
The fact that i accidentally just did this today before seeing this video, i feel bad for nick ngl
Nick came with me from the moment I met him. Dudes a straight savage
“There is a settlement that needs your help, I’ll mark it on your map”
Asking the questions we all answered 8 years ago like a boss!
What about curie with the synth body?
They do nothing mainly because I think the NPCs still register her as a miss Nanny bot (Look at the Diamond City Guards for evidence). They also don't care about Hancock, Strong, and X6-88.
Curie and X6-88 can at least pass for human, which is the entire point of Synths in the first place
@@uninspiredgaming9963 I would say that X6-88 not being found by the BOS would be impossible because he's wearing the infamous courser coat and has a voice that's equivalent to an unenthusiastic handjob since the coursers main job aren't to blend in and try to act human while possibly sabotaging the human settlement they're in unlike normal 3rd gen Synths but rather to ya know retrieve Synths that have gone A.W.O.L . Yet at the same if Curie can get by so can X6-88 because while yeah one of their enemies are Synths, they can't just shoot and kill people all willy nilly just on the suspicion that they're a Synth
@@specter1691yet they were all to happy to kill Danse without officially confirming that he was a Synth and not the real Danse on the suspicion based on institute records matching their own records. Its only after he goes AWOL that he’s confirmed to be a Synth. It’s clear that the real person and a synth can exist at the same time as we find out in a random encounter. We find a man being held hostage by a man that looks just like him. It’s possible that the real Danse is still alive but we don’t ever meet him.
@@Loona_Rose_Hazbin
Agreed, but as it's SOP for the Institute to take the captive original over to the FEV lab, you're not likely to actually recognize the original when you find them. Hint: they'll be much bigger and green now. I don't know the details of the Art vs. Art escapade. Honestly, I don't think Besthesda really cared about a believable scenario, just a bizarre encounter. I have met them enough to have confirmed one is a synth, and the other IS a human. I started by trying to kill the synth, eventually killed the human. A couple of the events happened in conjunction with other fights, and it was difficult to tell who killed whom. I'm sure Super Mutants killed the human once, as he was dead before I fired a shot. Now that I think of it, that's the last time I saw it. Could be Art's death stopped the random encounter?
This man just read my mind with this one, been wondering the last few days.
There’s actually a little line of dialogue between Danse and Nick hinting that they’ve crossed paths a few times
Nick s responses are on point homie is there for all the smoke hands down my fav companion
You cut out the best part, everybody knows Nick is The comeback King and oh boy, does he have some comebacks
I just got the game and did that without thinking, i felt bad for bro. Non stop him getting bitched.
You should’ve included more of Nick’s comebacks, they were the best parts of these interactions!
And this is precisely why the last thing Maxson hears is rusty gears from 12 seventeenth century mortars.
I have never thought a about doing this. In fact I have always left him behind when going to the Brotherhood base to be on the safeside.
I almost never go anywhere without Nick, he's been on the Prydwen loads of times
Sweet! The detail is awesome.

They really thought of everything.
Nick’s best line is easily what he says if you destroy the nucleus with him.
There really was so much well thought out stuff going on in this game
I love how half of the things you do ive already done
Nick is the only synth that everyone loves.
This is literally how I play the game lol

I'm so pleased Bethesda took this into consideration.
Nick Valentine is awesome. I love his wit.
He’s my go to follower, just asks if you’re sure you want to walk through a brotherhood compound with a synth at your side
the big quest for Nick was dope when you have to collect 12 audio tape to find out a code and to find out the guy to take his revenge (I forgot his name)

i joined the brotherhood on my first playthrough and brought nick to the prydwen my first time on it… definitely quite the trip when i heard maxson declare war on synths! i thought i was gonna lose nick.
I unintentionally brought nick there not even thinking about it
