I finally got a Yoda worth having! But how much better is it? I've never been quiet about my disdain for the original Black Series Yoda figure. I was very disappointed by it. Let's see if this one is any better.

When the original Yoda came out I passed on it. It looked so bad.
Noticed secondary markets had priced him so high, along with the original scrotum faced Emperor.
Picked up this Archive Yoda and well pleased. He looks 100% better, but that snake addition is silly.

Hey Mike, what do you think of the pics of force spirit Yoda? I agree, they've never done a decent Yoda in this line, but I'm kind of looking forward to it!
I think it’s it’s the same quality as their ghost obi-Wan it’ll be ok. But it sucks it won’t come with as many accessories, but I’m gonna buy it.

Hey Mike! I’ve gotta say, I actually like this figure a lot (I also have a heavy Muppet bias). I totally get he’s a little light on articulation, but his elbows are actually double-jointed. Also, his belt unclips and the robe is removable, so in total he comes with 5 accessories, which isn’t bad :)
Yeah, it’s not bad, and this is definitely better than the original. I just wish he had come worth more appropriate accessories.

I have the 3.75 Yoda because I think size wise it looks better with the 6 inch figures but I really cant wait for force ghost Yoda.
Yeah it’s sad that sometimes their 6” figures aren’t as good at 3.75” figures. Their original 3po was like that too
Nice Review. Yoda is My Favorite Character from Star Wars, but like You I wasn't really that happy with the Original Release. I agree, the Photo-Real face Paint is a Game Changer for this figure. I customized my Original Yoda by just doing a simple Black Wash to His Head to attempt to tone down all of that White Paint Hasbro Slathered on the back of the Head for His Hair. As a Happy Accident the Wash also got on the rest of his Head and Face bringing out the Wrinkles and Enhancing, and reducing the Big, Buggy look to His Eyes. I'm still Very Happy with Him, but the Archive Release looks Fantastic, and KUDOS to @Hasbro , I don't know what they did but now Yoda can Hold His Cane, with both of His Hands Clasped on top of each other, in that Classic ESB pose, which was another complaint I had with the Original. He has Double Jointed Elbows, but He Does Not have a Bicept Swivel, or Elbow Swivel. I was going to Modify One of My Archive versions and Add a Bicept Swivel, but I think Hasbro used a Softer, Rubberier Plastc for the Elbows on the Archive Release because It wasn't reallly hard to get him in that Pose now, but took some fiddling with the Robes. It's Definitely something that the Original Release Could Not do, and that I'm thrilled about on this Archive Yoda. It's nice that Hasbro included the Snake on the Black Series figure as a Nod to the Original, Vintage Kenner figure from 1980. The Difference in the Stripes on the 2 Snakes You mentioned was due to a Variation on the Original Release Black Series Yoda. Some had Thicker Stripes, and Others had the Thinner Stripes, which is the Variant. It's also nice that they added His Lightsaber, but I agree with You, This is Not a Prequels Yoda. He will be Displayed just like this on My Original Trilogy Displays. Hopefully Hasbro will give us a Better Articulated Prequel Yoda Soon.

@@MikeKaess Thanks Mike, I appreciate the Compliment. It Really was a Simple Thing to do to Him. But made such a Huge Difference. The Hair still looks way too thick on the back, but at least there's some depth to it with the Shading, and it's not as Bright White as it was.

Got the archive Yoda myself and never got the "original". I got into the line in 2015. It's a great figure, but would have been nice if they included some more than a snake as the extra, since he's so small.

I’m picking him up for sure. I missed out on him the first time. Whoever decides accessories for figs should be fired. I get the snake is a throw back to the og, but yoda doesn’t need the snake. A light blue soft goods back pack to go along with that new Dagobah Luke garbage would’ve been nice. Better yet, that lamp that he battled R2 over would have worked.

I'm not a fan of soft goods on my six inch figures. They just never look right. I'd much rather have sculpted garments. Good comparison, none the less.

I agree this figure is subpart - I wish Hasbro would make upmtheir mind if this line is one of highly detailed, well made accurate likeness figures for collectors or some line they begrudgingly keep making half a$$ed releases for (hmm, venting I am doing!). Anyway, I thinkmits funny where we disagree tho - I think this Yoda is too big and needs to be slightly smaller to better fit in scale with the Black Series. But then again they totally screwed up R2's scale so you cant go by him, and Dagobah Luke isn't out yet but even when he is Hasbro said they won't release any training backpack to allow this figure to fit on his back because it would,d be "too big and look odd". Or something to that effect. Regardless of his size, there is zero excuse for not articulating his legs. Other small figures in the BS (Jawa, Maz) have knees, and it would have helped possibly adjust his height to make him look smaller as he should. Argh, at least as you point out the Paint Ops are far better this time around - thank goodness Hasbro is now putting detailed faces and such on their figures - when you hold that original Yoda side by side with this one....come on Hasbro, I am not being sarcastic when I say just about anyone would have been able to do a better paint job than what was on the original..."Better paint jobs? Not with out products, here's what we do - splotch splotch for the eyes, dot dot pupils, thick swipe around the back for the hair (missing the top as you show) - ta da! Ship and sell and laugh maniacally at the dumb nerds who buy this lo quality crap! Mwahahah! They'll buy it no matter how little we try, it says Star Wars on it, Mwahahahhaaaa!" (my impression of evil Hasbro exec). Maybe someone who cares is now at the helm and rereleased these and they do look way better. Now let's see if the other issues (scale issues for certain figures (R2 and Ig-88 are the biggest - should I say smallest - scale effups), too few or no accessories, bad likeness (every Luke for example). Figuarts still rocks and when Hasbro tries they are amazing (Mace, Obi Wan, etc). Apartbfrommarchuve releases, we need resculpts of ALL the figures I just mentioned (maybe just heads for the Lukes but R2 and IG need done from the start). Great review overall dude!!!!
I wouldn’t mind if the figure were smaller because that’s more accurate, but also it should come with more/better accessories

As a reptile keeper and a Star Wars fan, I feel compelled to do a repaint on that damn snake. It's eyes aren't even painted ffs!

I remember many years ago.... Sadly. I saw Yoda, R2D2, and Slave Leia at a Barnes and Noble. They were $22.99. I passed. As you said the Yoda was tiny for the money and he looked like crap. The R2 also to small. Leia was just hideous. I came back a couple weeks later, they had 3 or 4 of each so. Well they dropped to $14.99ea. None had sold. I still passed. Finally a month later they had maybe 1 or 2 of each at $9.99 clearanced. I was a IDIOT and passed. I went back the next day realizing I was a dumbass and all were gone. I finally got a R2 original. I won't go into how much and why...eBay and as I said I'm a dumbass. I also got Slave Leia. She was $60. Still ugly as hell but they announced right after I bought her they weren't releasing her anymore. So eh. I also got a 3.75 MOC and loose Slave Leia with her so I'm not as bummed as R2. I never got a Yoda. I almost, almost paid $85 off eBay and I stopped myself. No effin way. $25 maybe. $30 tops. Sadly we never got the Yoda here. Or if we did the wave was a one and done. That happens here a LOT. Since then my luck improved. I got 2 R5-D4 exclusives, 2 Gen.Grevious figs, and I found the Carbonite Second Sister and Mandalorian as well as the reg.releases. The RoS, TLJ, TFA don't interest me. Some figures eh. Most...nope.

That damn snake. I hate hate hate hate that thing. I love accessories, but how is it an accessory? I know it's kind of hard to think of what he should have come with, but maybe his little pot/cauldron thing of stew that was in his hut? The one that Luke eats from while complaining about everything. Anyway, I just really think the snake was a useless accessory thrown in. The lightsaber at least makes some sense -- even if it doesn't really fit. Or maybe do a throwback from the old 3.5 inch figures from the 90's and have him come with the backpack that Luke carried Yoda in. I dunno. This figure is definitely better, but the color green just seems a little too...green. It's meant to be the older Yoda, and I feel that one should be a little more grey mixed into the green. Maybe I'm nitpicking. Either way it's still better than the original released one was. And regardless I'm still in a great mood because my Emperor Palpatine figure w/Throne will arrive in a few hours. Keep up the good work.

You can remove the belt and the vest and he looks like a prequel yoda fighting Palpatine. But the articulation is still pretty bad :(
Yeah, removing the cloak doesn’t fix a lot of the issues. It just shows off how much articulation he’s missing.

The green still isn't right for TESB. If we're going by Lego colours, these are olive green, when OT Yoda should be sand green. Come to think of it, Lego's most recent OT Yoda is olive green too...
